Why they chose this property
We fell in love with the Old Vicarage over 20 years ago. She's a grand old Victorian lady, located in the heart of historic City of Lincoln. The location is so convenient, and within a short walk of the fabulous medieval cathedral and castle. The Old Vicarage was a happy family home for us and our growing children. We all enjoyed its space, charm and the central location. The house is within easy reach of the railway station, shops and restaurants, and with the wonderful view of the park from the big picture windows of this fine old Victorian townhouse.
What makes this property unique
Unlike many properties on offer, with their generic 'holiday let' decor, The Old Vicarage is presented as a home for home and is bursting with charm and character. Although sympathetically updated, The Old Vicarage escaped the scourge of modernisation that ripped the heart out of so many period properties. The house retains most of its period features like deep skirting boards, open fires, a Minton tiled hallway, the big solid wood original doors and their rosewood handles, ceiling roses, a big central staircase with mahogany features, and the massive sash windows which offer an unrivalled view of the parklands opposite. Unusually for a property in such a central location, there's also secure, private parking in a garage on the property. The remote controlled electric shutter door makes for a convenient place to stash your car during your stay. Of course, with the railway station just 10 minutes walk or a short taxi ride away, visitors using public transport are well catered for too.
