From November 1- April 15 please be aware that the Utah Department of Transportation and Town of Brighton rules about canyon travel require snow tires (3PMSF) or chains to make it safely up the canyon and to the home. Snow plowing on neighborhood roads is provided by local vendors and intermittent. Cottonwood Lodging does not have control over snow plowing. DO NOT TAKE UBERS OR LYFTS TO THIS PROPERTY. Please plan to check in by 8pm to avoid unplowed roads if it is storming and note that this home can accommodate ONLY 2 vehicles.

Blanche's Retreat is managed by locally owned and operated property manager Cottonwood Lodging Company where the guest experience is most important. Please reach out for information about the area and other services offered by Cottonwood Lodging.

Blanche's Retreat is a large family cabin located in the mountain community of Silver Fork - famous for its award-winning "Utah's Best Water". Located just 2 miles down canyon from Solitude Ski Resort and 4 miles from Brighton Ski Resort, this secluded home is perfect for large groups or two small families vacationing together (there is an abundance of separate beds for everyone). Amazing hiking and snowshoeing right out the back door.

Living Room - Open space with cozy couches, an Apple TV, and wood-burning fireplace.

Kitchen/Dining Area - Plenty of cooking tools and dining ware for all meals! The dining table seats 8 with 4 more seats at the kitchen counter.

Common Bathroom - Full bathroom with standing shower.

Basement Level:
Den - Sectional couch with Apple TV, DVD/VHS players, and a video library!

Laundry Room - Full-sized washer and dryer with detergent provided.

Bunk Bedroom - Provides 2 sets of Twin bunk beds as well as a Queen bed.

Full Bathroom - recently renovated addition featuring all new appliances!

Upstairs Level:
Primary Bedroom - Cozy Queen bed upstairs with reading nook and baby crib, if needed.

Loft Area - Find a Full bed and Twin bed outside the Primary Bedroom in a loft-style area.

Jack and Jill Bathroom - One entry in the loft area, one entry through the primary Bedroom. Full bathroom with combo shower/tub.

We had an amazing experience at this cabin! The place was incredibly spacious, clean, and had everything our family needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The location was peaceful and quiet, making it the perfect getaway.The host was exceptional—very responsive, thoughtful, and proactive. There was a power outage in the area during the night, and the host immediately helped us with flashlights and quickly contacted Rocky Mountain Power to resolve the issue. The power was restored much faster than we expected, thanks to their quick action.We also truly appreciated the flexibility with early check-in and late check-out, which made our trip much easier with kids.Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we would definitely love to stay here again. Highly recommended!

Great place! Cabin in the woods not chalet. Not a bad thing, just setting expectations.

Great place, feels very homey. Tons of beds and plenty of space for a big family. We had a great time and loved the place. Would stay here again.

Perfect Vacation!

We had a wonderful two week stay at Blanche’s Retreat. It’s an excellent location for access to hiking near Solitude but also so easy to get down the canyon. The cabin was perfectly suited for our needs and the management company was quick to respond to anything we needed.

Nice cabin close to ski resorts

Enjoyed renting this cabin. Very convenient to Brighton and solitude. Tucked away in the woods Easily sleeps 12. ( room for 8 in bunk beds downstairs ) Amenities are a bit dated but everything works and the cabin is well stocked. We had a great time.

Located in the woods; it is quiet and serene with beautiful windows to watch the snow fall. Lots of beds, big couches, a giant is a win! They warn renters that during winter you need a 4WD car and it is necessary to navigate your way to the house. Would definitely stay again.

Great Mountain Stay!

I recently stayed at Blanche's cabin with a group of friends for a ski weekend at Brighton and Solitude. The location couldn't have been any better to access both mountains. The cabin had plenty of space for all of us to spread out and it was very well equipped with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable! The only drawback was that it was about 30 minutes down the canyon to get to restaurants, grocery stores, etc. The communication from the management company was fantastic! They were in touch prior to our stay and throughout the stay as well to make sure were were doing well. It was much appreciated! Overall, the cabin was fantastic for our ski weekend and we would love to come back!

We really liked the privacy of the cabin. Sheltered in the trees, it seemed to be by itself and cozy. Many of the cabins were in clusters and had close neighbors. Our felt like it was just us. Safe and warm. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I hope we left it as neat and clean as it was when we arrived. Mary Lee

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: In terms of the view and proximity to the slope at Solitude ski resort, spacious. Blanche's place was reasonable. However this place needs much improvements. Carpeted areas were dirty, kitchen needs a lot of care, organization and cleanliness. It is old and needs remodaling; appliances such as coffee maker, blender are old and found that they haven't been clean in while. there is no sink garbage disposal in kitchen sink. The area rugs are filthy. A lot of space but only two rooms have privacy. In summary will no be coming here in the future.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house was definitely big enough for our family of 6 and also very clean upon arrival. Other than that, it left a lot to be desired. One of the showers was broken and off-limits until the last day of our stay when a repairman fixed it in the afternoon. There was tons of water leaking in through the wooden walls and floor in the basement. Every single bed and pillow was so uncomfortable and none of us slept well while we were there. Lastly, and this is just taste, but it looks like the house was designed/outfitted 4 decades ago and not touched since then. A few small updates would go a long way with visitors.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was big, with plenty of room, and definitely felt nice and cozy. Stayed with 6 other people, and we all had a great time. It definitely could have used some better cooking equipment. For instance, none of the knives were sharp, so trying to cook a meal was torturous (cutting chicken thighs? had to saw through them to cut anything. Annoying and dangerous). Also some better pans would be nice (most of the ones there were flaking teflon and so on). Also, no wi-fi. Plenty of phone data available, but having wi-fi would definitely have been nice.

The equipment in the kitchen was sufficient for everything we needed.We found the house a bit "run-down", especially for its price. We have rented a house in the Canyon every year for 6 years and have always been able to rely on price as a guide to the quality of the situation. This was a disappointing surprise.For example, the glass doors in the upstairs bathroom were in complete disrepair. The first day trying to open the door the entire assembly fell on me in the shower.The bathrooms are very, very small and have not been updated.Two people taking showers of approx. 10 minutes length each completely wipes out the hot water. Anyone else wanting to take a (hot) shower has to wait about an hour.I'm afraid we will not rent this house again and can't really recommend it to others.

Charming cabin with lots of character, great location

The location of this cabin is perfect for Brighton & Solitude, and it's not too out of the way to dip back into Salt Lake City for errands or further exploration. This place has infinite beds if you've got a big group. Very cozy living room. The woods surrounding the cabin are lovely. All wheel drive is imperative for getting to the cabin if there's snow on the ground, the road to the cabin aren't as well maintained as the main roads. Don't expect to make it in an Uber.

This location provides privacy from the noise of traffic from the main road as well as close neighbors. We have many hiking trails near our cabin that can be enjoyed summer or winter!
The famous Silver Fork Lodge and Restaurant is located just an 8-minute walk or 2-minute drive away - a great place to fuel up before hitting the mountain! There is also a ski bus stop located near the Silver Fork Lodge. Solitude is a quick 3-minute drive up the road, and Brighton is 9 minutes away.
