Come and see why Southern Bell beckons. We are located on the second floor of the 1940’s original telephone office building right on the historic waterfront of St. Mary’s. Newly renovated in the Low-Country style this property offers incredible views of the waterfront. Walk to local restaurants, museums and parks. The ferry to Cumberland Island boards within yards of the front of the property. Cumberland Island is the premier wild beach experience with 15 miles of undeveloped beach to explore. Wild horses and historic ruins add to the adventure. Perfect get-away for the author, artist, or to relieve the workday stress.

Quaint river view home

This is the 4th home we have rented in St Mary ‘s and each very nice and would probably rent again but this home was more cozy, quaint, well decorated and the view from the porch was the best of the homes we have rented.

Perfect for visiting Cumberland Island national seashore. We enjoyed our stay. Home was super clean and welcoming. Linda was easy to work with and friendly.

Great stay in St. Marys!

Southern Bell is in a great location and is spotlessly clean. Outside you can hear music from the Tiki bar nearby, but it is very quiet inside. We will stay here again .

Linda’s place exceeded my expectations. The place is very nice, clean and well decorated. The location is perfect in the small downtown area. Right next-door to a gift shop with an ice cream bar too

This was my 2nd stay at the property. The location has amazing views and is so convenient. The local food is amazing. The unit provides a great living space. I utilized the laundry area. The owner is fantastic to work with.

Fall visit to St Mary’s

My wife and I were very impressed with our stay at the Southern Bell. The place was much nicer than we expected and a great location. Cleanliness was exceptional and with all the amenities we never went to the store for coffee, cream, toiletries, etc…. We visited 3 of the 4 major islands in the area during our long weekend and would highly recommend the Southern Bell for exploring the local area.

The flat was as lovely as pictured and had all that is needed. The place was beautifully decorated and immaculate. The especially loved the doors……beautiful! We were visiting my Aunt and cousins from near and far. A very comfortable accommodation.

Completely Chill!

If your looking for a super chill getaway with a beautiful view and a couple of local hangouts, look no further. Apartment was immaculate and was very well organized and stocked: hotel quality linens, laundry detergent, Keurig (with pods) and full kitchen for cooking in! Owner was very responsive. Would definitely stay here again!

As soon as we walked into the place we were all delighted! So much attention to detail make this a wonderful place to stay. The place is spotless and the decor is fabulous. We didn't want for a thing except a few more days to stay. Restaurants are all within walking distance as is the ferry for Cumberland Island. Thanks for a GREAT time!!

Fabulous place

Views of river for sunrise and sunset, walking distance to everything including Cumberland Island Ferry, dining, parks, and museums. Very well appointed with plenty of fluffy towels, soft sheets, and comfy beds. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely decor celebrating the building’s history without being overdone. Beautiful reclaimed heart of pine for floors, doors, and some furniture items. Very relaxing!

Can not say enough about “Southern Bell”! We were returning to our childhood home where my husbands mother had been the switchboard operator and they lived in the joining apt. The town of St. Marys is delightful. There are friendly people and wonderful seafood! We will be returning!

Perfect Waterfront Condo

This condo was just as described, if not better. Perfectly appointed and appropriately stocked for travelers and vacationers, with thoughtful items like coffee, bottled water, laundry detergent, and plenty of dishes, pots and pans, and linens. St Mary’s Gem

Why they chose this property

The Telephone Office Building, built in 1947. It was an important fixture on the downtown waterfront until 1951. We have paid tribute to that legacy with a couple of vintage phones and other memorabilia from our collection on site in the apartment. Our dream is to open a small telephone exhibit of the phones used in this area between the late 1850's up to the 1950's.

What makes this property unique

Location, location, location! Any closer to the water and you would be wet! Great views of the water and boats. You can watch the sunrise and sunset from the porch or the inside of the apartment.
