Comfotable and cozy cabin on the ski hill. Has all the amenities needed for a feel of home with a northwoods flair. Lots of beds if larger family wants to stay. Only two of us but liked there were 2 full bathrooms. Owner was very responsive to a few issues and took care of immediately and checked back with us to make sure all was handled by her staff. Fall colors were in peak and added an extra bonus to our week stay.

Would definitely rent to these guests again! They left our cabin in great condition and so glad that the Fall colors put on a great display! Our amazing Team Member Ruth was spot on with addressing and correcting their concerns and together we worked to make their Northwoods experience a delight!!

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
Nice layout and location but needs care
We loved the short walk to the ski hill, the layout with lots of private bedrooms, and how inviting the house is. The owner was easy to communicate with and very accommodating when we had to postpone out trip by 2 weeks.
Unfortunately there were several things that really need attention. The couch was broken, with the recliner side unable to lock in an upright position. One set of blinds were missing in the main room, making it very hard to eat at the dining room table with the sun in your eyes. The beds were quite uncomfortable and need to be replaced.
We found a pair of pajamas in one of the beds, making it clear the sheets hadn't been washed. The stove's burners had food burned and crusted underneath. There was a fair amount of pet hair in the loft and the dishwasher seems to be wearing out, as several mugs and bowls had bits of food crusted on them.
If it weren't for these issues, the house would be great. Hopefully they can be addressed before the next visitors' stay.

This is quite a disturbing review and certainly not the type of review we are used to receiving. You were kind to mention that I was easy to communicate with, however, it is interesting that you could not reciprocate and communicate with me at any time during your 4 night stay to let me know that you were experiencing challenges. It’s easier to address and correct problems on the spot while you are there, rather than hearing about challenges online after your departure. I’ll take this opportunity to address each challenge: the welcome letter on the counter addresses the sofa and the local furniture company was there 2 days prior to your stay. After I read your comments, I contacted the company again who came out and found the sofa to be functioning correctly so I am not certain as to what you are referring to. It is sometimes difficult to get that recliner to lock, but the option is to not use the recliner piece as there are 2 other recliners within that sofa. The welcome letter also addressed the blinds which came down with a prior guest and the local blind company is not open for repairs due to COVID19. The window faces the woods so no one can see in, and if the sun were a problem a solution might have been to move the table 4’. Again, had I known this was a problem, we could have rigged the blinds to fit your needs during your stay. I confirmed with my housekeeper that sheets had in fact been cleaned and we searched through the dirty linens and did not find any pajamas. I do apologize, but we don’t make a habit of not changing linens at all!!! Further, the queen beds are new Serta Perfect Sleeper Matresses and slept on less than a dozen times. The twin beds might need to be replaced soon, however, they are seldom used and you are the first guest to bring up the comfort of our beds. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats, which have not been to the ski house in over a year. If there was in fact pet hair, then it must have been a previous guest, and since we don’t allow pets, I can only apologize. We ask guests to wash the dishes and replace them in the cupboards prior to departure. The previous guests must have put dishes away not paying attention and we will be certain to check those as well as the burners in the oven. We never like to experience guest disappointments, and wish that we could have resolved this situation during your stay so that you would have had a more pleasant experience.
This was our second stay. It’s a great location - close to waterfalls, hikes, and Little Girl’s Point. The cabin is cozy and fits our needs perfectly. Thanks!
My 16-yr old son and I had a great time at Big Powderhorn and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Mary was very prompt to answer our text questions and went way above and beyond to make sure our stay was awesome. We walked to and from the ski lifts. We went late season so we couldn't ski back to the house due to the lack of snow in the parking lots and on the road. Still, no complaints. We highly recommend this place to make your vacation enjoyable.
We hadn't stayed at a ski resort off season before but this little place proved to be just what we needed. Quiet, good location, comfortable. Nice owner who, with her team, was responsive and helpful.
The cabin was nicely decorated for the holiday season. Super clean and quiet. Our family of four, including adult children, stayed for a ski vacation. We enjoyed the roominess of the cabin with separate spaces for all. Nice, well-equipped kitchen, clean bathrooms, and comfortable beds and furnishings. Could walk to Powderhorn, and an easy drive to Indianhead and Blackjack. Also enjoyed the Wolverine snowshoe trails.

Thank you for staying with us and glad you enjoy and got to experience a lot of what we have to offer. Thank you!!
We were looking for one last long weekend before school started. Glad we found this listing. Great location to visit many nearby outdoor activities (hiking, bonfires in the beach). Cabin was super clean and very well equipped. The owner is incredibly kind and helpful. Look forward to returning this winter to ski.
This was the perfect for a relaxing weekend. Close to tons of fun places - we hit up beaches and hiking spots all around. The house was so clean and cozy. Plenty of space for the family to spread out! We look forward to coming back in the winter to ski as the ski lifts and resort are a close walk away. Thank you!
No one could have foreseen this when booking last Fall. Three days into our 7 day vacation, Powderhorn closed due to coronavirus concerns. Luckily, my 10 yr old, 7 yr old (& 72 yr old father) found the ping pong table & gear on the morning of day 4 - we had the best time!
Spent a day or two skiing at Indianhead (7 minute drive from cabin). Otherwise, walked up Powderhorn (for sledding back down...LOL), sauna, & ping pong championships. The cabin has enough room so we weren't on top of each other. Also, really great internet - two kids and 3 adults all on their devices watching streaming video and no issues.
Can't wait to go again!!
Our family had the first annual ski vacation and we had the perfect house to stay at! Love the house and the owner was so helpful with questions. We will be back!!!!

Thanks for staying and glad you and the family had a great time. See you next year!

This is a great spot when visiting Powderhorn. It is located at the base of the mountain, next to parking lot off bunny hill. We were able to ski from hill across parking lot to the door. And take in the nightlife at the lodge right next door. Basically, a ski in/out experience.
The cabin is very comfortable and everything one would hope for on a ski trip. Large windows that view the hill and ski lift. A giant lofted for the kids to hang. Separate living area with 2bedrooms and bath in basement. This cabin can easily fit (2) families.
And the hosts are great. Can't go wrong here

Nice clean and cozy cabin.
Enjoyed our stay here. Cabin was nice and clean. It did not smell like a cabin, it was very cozy, the dry sauna was a good size and it’s in a great location. I would stay here again.

Excellent place.
Plenty of room, great location, clean. Our family really enjoyed this place. We all felt it was the best one we have stayed in over the last 10 years.
We’re so glad you found our little cabin! We also own AJ’s Lodge & Oven on Lake Gogebic, and while we love getting away ourselves, our lodge keeps us busy—so we’re excited to share this special spot with a few select guests.
You’ll have all the peace, privacy, and serenity you’re looking for, and we’re just close by if you need anything at all. We truly love this Northwoods retreat, and we hope it becomes a favorite getaway for you too!
