Location was good. It was about a 8 minute walk to the Kaanapali boardwalk and beach - which is absolutely beautiful! Beach at resort was not really usable. This is a north facing unit and didn’t receive any sun during our stay but it does have an ocean view which is nice! This is an old building and unit. The unit has been mostly renovated, but some areas are original (doors, ceilings, baseboards, ect.) There were a couple of items in the unit that did not work but they were replaced after about a day. The unit was well equipped. The resort pools and beach club bar are nice with daily specials. Would recommend staying in this unit if it is quite a bit cheaper than other places right on the Kaanapali boardwalk/beach.

Nice place

The place was advertised and delivered the same. It was easy to book, easy to get info on and up to date on many things. I would stay again. The sheets smelt so clean for the entire trip.

Great view/clean room

The condo is a small studio unit with a full size kitchen and bathroom. The view is a bit set back from the beach but makes up for that being high on the 7th floor. You can see the ocean spanning across and the island of lanai in the distance. Even woke up to a rainbow in the view. Bed was comfortable and plenty of pillows to relax with. Only suggestion I have, is to have a few floor mats, certainly one at the door so we aren’t tracking in dirt/sand, and ones on either side of the bed so we aren’t bringing sand or whatever else is stuck to our feet into bed.

Wildfire Experience

I stayed here during the wildfires of 2023 and the building staff was very professional, compassionate, helpful, understanding, and prepared. None of the units had power, but some common elements were operational as they had gas generators to keep elevators running, pools in service, hot tubs warm, restaurant open, and a cell charging station in the lobby. There were gas grills to cook your own food too. The unit is just as it is described & photographed on the website. Perfect size for 1-2 people. Everything was clean, organized, etc. Nothing to complain about except for the unfortunate timing of my trip. Location is good. Lots of things nearby (walking distance), including a grocery store. Ubers are always close, so only takes a few minutes to get one. Good unit, good building, good location, good value. So all you need is good timing to have an amazing trip here!

Need to be aware before you rent

When I arrived to room, the bathroom had not been cleaned and had pubic hair on the toilet and tub. Not one drop of cleaner in the room to clean. Only three towels for 10 days for 2 people and 2 rolls of toilet paper that looked as if they had been wet and smashed. This room is ocean view but not ocean front. The hotel was overall nice and most people that worked there were very friendly, BUT, they were not upfront on the VRBO listing. If you are handicap, elderly or just need a hand with your luggage DO NOT RENT HERE. The room is on the 7th floor and the hotel staff is not allowed to help you and cannot let you use their luggage cart (no matter how much you offer to pay). You are also not allowed to rent DVD’s from the lobby like the other guests at the resort. I did not know this ahead of time and my daughter picked a movie and then wasn’t allowed to rent one since we were “NOT HOTEL GUESTS” as they called us. She cried but nothing they would do. When I finally went and rented a dvd for my daughter, the DVD player DID NOT WORK in the room. I let them know, and at no time was a new one brought up. Also, as advertised on VRBO the children can participate in classes (ex: lei making class). They even attached a schedule for the times. I planned our time so we could attend and then was told we were not allowed since again “WE ARE NOT HOTEL GUESTS”. I reported all these issues to owner of property. She agreed to refund the cleaning fee ONLY if I wouldn’t write a review.

I would like to personally apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during your recent stay at our condo. We take guest feedback seriously and would like to address your concerns. Firstly, we apologize for any cleanliness issues you encountered in the bathroom. We take pride in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, and we have a dedicated cleaning team that addresses any reported issues promptly. Your mother reached out to us, she was not staying on island nor in the condo, she was the first to report the cleanliness issue to us, we immediately sent our cleaning team to re-clean the bathroom for you at no additional charge. However, we did not receive any photographic evidence of the cleanliness issue, which would have helped us to further investigate and take appropriate measures. Regarding the towels and toilet paper, our standard practice is to provide enough towels and toiletree items to start your stay, and we apologize if this fell short of your expectations during your visit. The cleaner confirmed that the condo was ready and clean before you arrived. She said there was enough toilet paper and towels for the visit, there were also extra towels located in the closets if needed. As mentioned previously this is a difficult situation to judge because of the lack of evidence to support many of your claims. We want to clarify that our property is not owned or operated by the hotel, and therefore does not offer the same amenities and services as the hotel itself. We are a separate, small business and strive to provide a unique experience for our guests. We do find it odd that they refused to help you as they have with our past guests, but these must be newer policies that we were not made aware of previously. It is important to note that as VRBO (Vacation Rental By Owner) guest, the resort still does offer additional facilities that may require additional charges, such as coin-operated washer/dryers, gym, small grocery store, salon, shops, and restaurants. However, the use of pools, hot tubs, Ukulele classes, and common grounds are complimentary and available to all guests. Now that this hotel policy has been brought to our attention, we have taken steps to ensure that our listing and communications clearly state the amenities and services that are available to our guests as a private listing, and differentiate them from the hotel's offerings to avoid any future misunderstandings. We value your feedback and suggestions, and we will continue to make improvements to provide a better experience for our guests.

Perfect little getaway

Maui get away

We enjoyed our month stay in this studio condo. The view towards Molokai and north was beautiful and made whale watching so fun. Definitely glad we took the binoculars!! We loved the tall table and chairs on the lanai to see over the railing too. The reason for the “good” review was only because the unit is a bit dated and we did look down on a parking area and hear the trucks backing up from time to time.

The staff at Kaanapali Shores is very good -- upbeat and helpful. The view from the balcony was good. One challenge incurred was if there was the smallest amount of food stain or crumbs left on the kitchen counter, a bunch of small bugs would appear, so we kept things really really clean, and kept all food of any kind in the fridge. Does the unit need fumigation?

Beautiful condo

We had a wonderful time staying in your condo. everything was perfect the views, the amenities, the weather, what's not perfect about Maui. Made use of the pool while also the beaches.
