The Julia House Right On The Gulf of Mexico

The Julia House is a 1930s style beach bungalow built the same time as the famous Don CeSar Hotel, 500 peaceful steps over the dunes to the Gulf of Mexico. The house is totally modern with a touch of Broadway. 2 Bedroom / 2 Full size Bathroom; Fully furnished beach house featuring an additional Florida room with a Double pull out sofa sleeper. Sleeps 6 comfortably. The Beach House is fully equipped with everything you need to relax, including access to the outdoor kitchen. Great for families and friends to relax and unwind in a quiet, safe and charming beach community, close to everything you need for your vacation.

The Julia House, is fully equipped with Wireless Internet access, Cable TV, Blue Ray DVD Player, all linens including beach towels and a washer dryer on premises. Cook on the outdoor grill located on a beautiful and tropically landscaped patio with a Western Cedar Gazebo. Relax and watch the sunset after taking a stroll on the beach only 1 short block away. Walk to any of a variety of wonderful restaurants or shopping within a mile. Amenities also include a fully equipped kitchen which includes large double door refrigerator/freezer, modern range, built in microwave w/exhaust fan and light, dishwasher, disposal and a full complement of small appliances and dishes, pots, pans, utensils and flatware.

Eclectic Pass-A-Grille is only a 10 minute drive south, with restaurants, snack bars, funky gift shops and pier offering chartered fishing excursions on the Gulf. The historic Don CeSar Hotel is a 5 minute walk up the beach. This 4-star luxury hotel offers access to fine dining, and for a guest fee, use of their health club, yoga classes/pilates classes, World Class Spa and kids game rooms. Rentals of paddle boards and wave runners are available. There is parasailing and volleyball on the beach as well. The pool is available to non-guests Monday-Thursday, depending on hotel occupancy, by purchasing a day pass. By car it is a 10 minute trip to Fort DeSoto Park and their beautiful private beaches, reported to be one of the 15 finest beaches in the world. Rollerblading, biking, picnic facilities and fishing pier available. A 15 minute car trip to downtown St. Petersburg offers sidewalk dining at the many restaurants on Beach Ave. Museums, highlighted by the Dali museum and the Chihuly Glass Museum, will satisfy your artistic pallet, and those of your guests. Tampa International Airport is a 25 minute ride by car or taxi: “From plane to beach in less than ½ hour!”

The home is literally a 3 minute walk from the beach - which is great when you don't want to remember to pack everything before a beach excursion, as you can easily just walk back, no need to drive or coordinate everyone in your party to leave at the same time.

We live on the Property in a separate house. We work closely with our guests to insure a wonderful stay, and will be available during your stay to answer any questions.

Stay at the Julia House

Since our timeshare was not yet repaired from the 2024 hurricanes, we rented the Julia House through vrbo. The host, Charlie, was on site to let us in and show us the path to the beach etc. The beach was perfect. It was a wonderful substitute for our timeshare and I would return in a second if I wanted to go to SPB when our place was not available.

Lovely little getaway

We really enjoyed our stay at The Julia House. Very fun beach house. Excellent and quiet beach. Plenty of amenities for the beach - beach towels, chairs, toys, etc. Good quality linens and well stocked kitchen.

Amazing host.

This property is a very short distance to the gulf, a beach cart is available along with an umbrella and chairs. Location is within walking distance to pass a grill and restaurants to the north. We truly had a wonderful time and will be returning next year.

Wonderful beach getaway

Location, location location. If the beach is what you love this property is a half block to toes in the sand. The tropical back yard was so relaxing and beautiful. We had the host with the most. Our host went above and beyond to met our every need. Not to mention he was a lot of fun!

Best beach location

Had a brilliant week in this charming Floridian house. Plenty of space for family of 5, kids aged 10-16. Great outdoor space. Absolutely fantastic location, just steps from the beach. Charlie is a great host, welcoming, friendly and very hospitable. All the beach stuff you could need is there - towels, beach chairs, buckets etc. thoroughly recommend. The beach is beautiful, quiet with white sand and shallow turquoise sea. Perfect for families.

Interactive Host

Charlie was a very welcoming host, even loaning us the makings of a relaxing beverage. He took us to Publix for food since we had no car when we first arrived. He checked on us frequently since his home is just across the patio. The guest house was quite adequate for 4 older adults, but not recommended for children at this point. There are some "in progress" repairs due to hurricane damage that make it unsafe for small children. Charlie was very upfront about the issues and explained the ongoing work in place. The location was great for us with easy access to Tampa, Clearwater, and the airport. The patio area is lovely and very inviting.

Perfect spot for relaxing stay

We are a couple and a single friend. Two bedrooms and two baths worked perfectly. We loved the courtyard where we could grill and entertain. Very close to the beach and Don Cesar. Treat yourself to an evening walk under the bridge. It is lit up beautifully. Charlie and Rebecca were great hosts and we enjoyed an evening sitting outside and visiting.

A 4 minute ealk to the beach!

Our host was kind, helpful, and an engaging storyteller. The house is furnished with myriad Broadway show posters, so that you feel almost as an ex NYtheatergoers. The delightful beach is just a few minutes walk away. There are a variety of shops, restaurants, cafes, and a Publix supermarket and CVS drugstore...

My Family and I have stayed in many condos and homes. Never before. Have you stayed in a better equipped and stocked accommodation than Charlie’s! Not only that, Charlie is a gracious and phenomenal host! Julia House is everything described and Moore and the location is to die for! Toes in the water.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Julia House on The Gulf. It's proximity to the beach was high on our list and it delivered. The sand was incredible and the sunsets were spectacular. We even spotted a dolphin just fifty feet from shore. Several restaurants within walking distance, not to mention the best Mojitos just across the street at the 360. The accommodations were comfortable and enjoyably eclectic. The patio however was where we spent most of our time enjoying a beverage(s), the sun, the breeze and stories about our daily experiences. Charlie was the best character and host you could meet with stories galore. Already missing Charlie.

We spent two weeks in this quaint cottage, with loads of charm and quirky details. It is very conveniently located, near the grocery store, great restaurants, the beach and other fun activities. The hosts live behind the cottage, and they are wonderful and fun people. The 'yard' between the two homes is a tropical paradise. We spent many hours there enjoying this beautiful setting. What a great place to relax and enjoy a few drinks, and/or cook-out on the chef-style grill. The home is within walking distance of several restaurants, the beach, and an ice cream parlor! The Julia House was a perfect setting for us to enjoy all that St Pete's Beach and the surrounding area had to offer. We had everything we needed here, a fully functional kitchen and outdoor grill area, dining area large enough for 6, two bedrooms, with extra sleeping possible on the couches, and all the necessary linens, plus beach towels, chairs/umbrella for our trips to the beach. We would definitely like to stay here again in the future. There is also a shared laundry facility available for your use. We felt so at home here!

The best beach get away!

I took my grown daughters along with a few of their friends for a relaxing beach trip. We loved the quirky decor in the house, reflecting the owner’s affinity for Broadway musicals. There are plenty of books if you like to read, and games. We were greeted by Charlie upon arrival, and he is a charmer! We enjoyed getting to know him and his sweet friend Minette. He shared with us his memorial for his beloved wife, Rebecca. He has a bench for her on the beach, and sponsors a turtle nest in her memory. We found those to be beautiful gestures. We were delighted to find there were plenty of towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, a beach umbrella, and Charlie had even gotten an easy up tent for us to use and a cornhole set. You will want for nothing! You bring yourself, your swimsuits, a cooler and you are good to go! As we are all pretty fair, some might even say “pale” or “transparent,” we appreciated the shade. The beach is a very short walk, and it is not crowded since it is private for the community where we were. We had wanted to use the outdoor kitchen but it was too hot the week we stayed. We used the outdoor shower a lot. I don’t think I ever used the one inside, lol. We had the most relaxing week. We swam all day, ate great food (Shrimpy’s was our favorite), and I slept like a rock. We all did! Couldn’t have asked for a better trip. We appreciate you Charlie!

AWESOME!

We had an awesome time! The house was perfect for us. We would go to the beach every morning then walk back for lunch. It was so nice not having to bring towels, beach chairs and umbrellas - Charlie and Rebecca had everything available for us to use. One of the best parts of our trip was meeting and spending time with Charlie and Rebecca. They are the best hosts and we certainly count them as friends now. Stay here. You won’t regret it!

At the Beach

This was a great spot just steps from the beach, where we strolled mornings and evenings (to spectacular sunsets!). Charley and Rebecca's house shares a beautiful tropical courtyard with the property. They were there for our first week, and were gracious and fun, including a lovely dinner on the patio for us on a Saturday evening. Would definitely rent again.

Cute,charming,needs some upgrades

This property is charming enough,I would recommend some upgrades.Some of the light switches weren't working to the point where I went to plug in a small heater the outlet shorted out and maybe invest in a new couch or clean the material.The patio area is very nice and big, unfortunately it rained half the time and couldn't really enjoy it.The property is located on a very busy road literally out the front door.The big plus to the house is the proxemty to the beach Which made up for the other issues.

Charlie and Rebecca love to travel but love their time on the beach in Paradise the most. Rebecca was born and raised in Virginia. Charlie is a New York/New Jersey guy. We currently live in Charlottesville, Virginia but spend most of our time on the beach. A quiet Southern belle and the outspoken Yankee have traveled much of the world and eaten lots of delicious food and still have many places yet to see. We are the proud owners of a Bluebird Luxury Coach and are proud to have visited all 50 states and 30 major league baseball parks! Charlie loves to cook and Rebecca loves to eat--they make the perfect couple! Rebecca is a product of the Richmond, Virginia school system and Charlie is a graduate of Seton Hall University.

Why they chose this property

After Charlie visited the area in the mid-1960s, his parents decided to purchase the property and began their retirement years in St. Pete Beach. The Julia House is named for Charlie's mother who was a major force in the purchase of the property. Charlie is convinced that living here added many years to both of his parents' lives. After the passing in 1989 of his father then his mother in 2000, Charlie purchased his brother's half of the property and began remodeling and renovating the property. Over the years, Charlie and Rebecca began spending more time in Paradise, sharing the property with children, grandchildren and other family and friends.

What makes this property unique

The Julia House is fully furnished with everything and anything you might need to make your stay comfortable. Access to the beach includes our own supply of beach chairs, noodles and floats. Guests also have access to a lush and tropically landscaped patio that includes an outdoor kitchen, covered Western Cedar gazebo and a Jasmine enclosed semi-private hot/cold outdoor shower to expand your outdoor living experiences. The most unique benefit to guests is the beautiful white sand and blue Gulf of Mexico with a spectacular sunset most every night. ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR!
