This was a great start to our trip to Maine. It was quiet and located on a beautiful pond. The A frame was rustic in a good way, providing anything we could need. The owner was very quick to respond to communications. This is a great stay!

Thanks Karen ! So glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope the remainder of your trip was fantastic.
Beautiful lakeside cabin that was the perfect launchpad for my partner and I's trips to Acadia. Around a 50 minute drive to the national park and Bar Harbor, which is reasonable if you decide to make day-trips. We packed the car for the days worth of activities, and returned to the cabin at nights, which was cozy and quiet. The cabin is an all-around great option for your Maine trip.

Thanks very much Jack! So glad you enjoyed your stay!!
Our stay here was fantastic. It was close enough to Acadia to spend 3 days there and then also had plenty of time to jus trelax and enjoy the lake. The boats/kayaks are a big plus for getting out on the water and we had a great stay overall!

We had a great time at George’s Pond! Sitting on the deck, enjoying the views, swimming, going out on the canoe and kayaks. Just a wonderful time overall!
This cabin was exactly as described. It was so close to water you could almost touch it from the sliding door. The host was amazing and helpful. It was a great place to view Maine for the first time.

Thanks so much Rachel! So glad you enjoyed your stay. We'd love to see you again!!
Jim was a great host and communicator during the booking process. The house was very private, well-stocked, and directly next to the water for swimming and other activities. The only slight negative is the location is a bit far if you plan to do multiple Acadia visits like us.

Thanks Gary. I am glad you enjoyed your stay! It was a pleasure having you all!!
We rented the cabin to be close to UMaine Orono for Parents' Weekend. We arrived at night and the cabin was cozy and welcoming. In the morning we had coffee on the dock watching the fog burn off of the pond. The home is definitely bare-bones, but accommodating and comfortable. The property manager was responsive to my questions and concerns during booking.
The cabin was remote but not difficult to find. It was on Beautiful Lake George. It was pretty close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The cabin was clean and cozy. We enjoyed our stay. The loons called frequently which was our reason to stay by the lake. Jim was very nice. He helped us out when we need anything. No TV but who needs one when you are in the wilderness.

Pretty spot. Very quiet. Just what we were looking for.
The property is perfect for a week visit. The kitchen in the main cabin is nicely equipped for anything you would need. We were happy that there was a grill for general use, as this is what we chose to do most nights. The kids loved the kayaks -- they rowed and fished to their hearts' content.
We were concerned to discover the fire detector in the A frame had no battery (after we allowed our 15 and 12 year old sleep there for two nights). Not insurmountable, but definitely a bit disconcerting.
Overall, a very pleasant stay!

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. The smoke detector batteries are checked/replaced every spring. We are not sure how it was missing and it will be replaced immediately.

Cute but rustic
The cabin was in a very pretty area and fairly convenient distance to either part of Acadia national park (45 min). Everything was clean and ready for us to use and the host was helpful and friendly. We were disappointed to find out after we had booked in the welcome information that the cabin had no potable water and that we needed to buy and bring water for cooking and drinking. The host provided one gallon jug, but we were hiking in Acadia national park and for the price it would have been good to know this beforehand as we may not have booked the property. For the cost of the rental it was disappointing to have this logistical issue, as we underestimated our needs and had to purchase additional water along the way. Also the cabin is quite close to another property. On the Saturday of our stay we were awoken early in the morning (around 6/630 AM) to a work crew removing old shingles on the next door property, cursing and talking loudly enough for every part of their conversation to be heard within our cabin. We were hoping for a quiet getaway prior to having our first child and this, though out of the control of the host, was a disappointing disruption to our vacation. Overall, although it is a cute cabin, the amenities and comfort of the furniture put it a little bit more in the rustic category than we expected with the price point.

I am very sorry that your stay was not a 5 star experience. As you noted, you were on notice that you would need to supply drinking water. I wish you had advised me of your concern prior to your arrival so we might have resolved the issue. As you also noted, the noise at the nearby property due to a roof replacement (caused by prior storm damage) was outside of our control.
It was pleasure meeting you both and I hope the remainder of your trip was outstanding!
Overall the A-Frame was beautiful and I would stay again!
A few things I wish I knew before booking or were more clear at time of booking: 1. there are 0 curtains on the windows or doors, and there are adjacent homes on either side. It's nice to have the peace of mind that comes with closing the curtains at night, so it made our stay a little uncomfortable. 2. The back sliding door to the lake does NOT lock - there is a piece of wood to "jamb" in the track, however, it's not cut to size and you can easily open it from either side - (we tested it). Not sure what the property owner was thinking here - but this also made the stay uncomfortable with the knowledge that at any point someone could easily come in. It would be great if the owner provided the key to actually lock it. 3. There is no drinking water, only pond water to shower and clean with. You must bring your own water to use to brush your teeth, etc. This didn't bother me, but I wasn't aware when I first booked this stay until my partner read the fine print after the booking was confirmed. Two gallons of spring water should be enough for 1 week's stay - not including any water bottles for drinking. Lastly, 4. There is no heat in the winter, only plug-in heaters. This also didn't bother me, but it should be noted for those considering booking here as this info wasn't clear to me in the Vrbo listing. I stayed here early October, and it was cold, but not bad when you layer up and turn on the heater.

Thanks for your detailed feedback! We had removed the curtains on the lakeside due to feedback that they were obstructing the view of the water and there is no cabin on that side of the property. There is also no cabin on the rear of the property.
The lock on sliding door was broken by another visitor and we will be getting it repaired. The rental agreement stated that there guests were responsible for drinking water. We will now ensure there are at least 2 gallons of water when guests arrive. Glad you enjoyed your visit.
Lovely and rustic lakeside cabin. Easy to get to local beauty spots and a beauty spot in its own right. Check process was smooth and host communication was prompt and considerate. Definitely would stay again!
We rented the cabin for a week and it was perfect for us. It's right on George's Pond. The scenery is spectacular. The cabin doesn't have a TV, which was very nice because we had to interact with each other. The cabin has everything else - comfy beds, full kitchen and bathroom, etc. The cabin is also located far enough away from touresty areas to be super peaceful, but close enough to drive to easily.
Loved the tranquility of Georges Pond along with the roomy kitchen/living space, well-equipped kitchen, nice deck and great outdoor furniture and fire pit! Our family really enjoyed our time there and at a reasonable price! Only negative is the 45 min drive to ANP.
Pros: Beautiful setting on the lake. Quiet area. New dock provides easy water access for complimentary kayaks. Two housing units provides privacy and flexibility. About 50 minutes to Bar Harbor and an hour to inside Acadia main attractions. Be sure to check out Schoodic Point which is closer, less crowded and spectacular.
Cons: One bath room per house. No air conditioning. Heat is either small plug-in electric space heater or wood burning (which we did not try). Cell service worked for us, but is spotty. Dirt access road is rutty, so bring an appropriate vehicle.
Enjoyed our stay. Would recommend.
We had a great time here! The lake, waterfront location, fire pit, loons at night, all made for a great experience! It was an hours' drive from the Hulls Cove entrance to Acadia, and Bar Harbor, so we made sure to plan ahead for activities in that region. What a beautiful area! We especially enjoyed exploring the Schoodic peninsula. The cabin was equipped with lots of chairs and comfortable beds, as well as kitchen equipment. We would definitely recommend this place to others looking to stay in the area!
Perfect place to unwind and relax. We loved waking up every morning and seeing the sunrise over the lake right from the big open living room windows. Spent multiple evenings making a fire in the backyard fire pit while the sunset on the lake. The kayaks were also a great addition! Cabin was located around an hour from Acadia/ Bar Harbor. Would definitely love to stay again!
