This cozy house has a splendid view of the Pamlico Sound. It was spotless and compact, perfect for a couple. The owner greeted us cordially and even gave us a bit of extra time to check out. We'll be back.
It doesn't get any better than Hyde County Lodges and the Meekins. Outstanding properties and hosts! This is our 2nd trip and we will be back again in a few short months, for a week or more! I'm looking forward to retirement so I can have extended stays in this little slice of heaven on earth. Thank you Karen and Dell for another wonderful memory in our memory bank.

Awesome place to get away and relax
This lodge was just what we were looking for... A place to get away from the busyness of life to a quiet place where the sound of birds and an occasional boat passing by which was a delight for us to see. The lodge was well kept, very nicely furnished, and had everything we needed for our stay. Karen and Dale were delightful to meet. My husband especially enjoyed his talks with Dale learning more about the history of fishing in this area. This is a quiet area with no night life or entertainment, but this is exactly why we came. Even though there was TV available, we never turned I it on, we didn't want to miss enjoying our surroundings. We did drive to Manteo one day, to Swan Quarter another, checking out neighboring communities. You will need to bring your food although for lunch there is The Big Trout Marina and R&L's and Martel's Feed House which also has supper. Local places with good food. If you are looking for a place to relax with besutiful this is a great place to do that.

Thank you Mary for your comments. We do live in a quaint, quiet place. We have always said "Just another day in Paradise". I do hope you and Reid will be back. Thanks again
I would give the lodges 15 stars if they were available. Loved, loved, loved our stay! The lodge was spic and span and had everything you needed to cook a meal and more. Karen and Dell are amazing hosts and we really enjoyed our time with them. We will be back, again and again! Yes, it's that spectacular. There is not a lot to do there as far as night life, but who needs night life when you have a view of the water, birds, fish, shrimp boats, crab boats and the everyday fisherman to look at. Thank you so much Karen and Dell for your wonderful hospitality and giving us a taste of your "Little Slice of Heaven."
We decided to take our boys to the outer banks for vacation. I booked on VRBO and it was amazing! Only a little over a half hour from Roanoke Island. Waking up in the morning and having breakfast on the screened in porch was so relaxing. Watching a guy checking his crab traps, fishing boats coming in, feeling the ocean breeze on your face! It was amazing and so relaxing. Karen was very attentive and checked in via text prior to getting there and while we were there she stopped by. Very attentive to our needs. Would definitely rent from her again!!!
The property owners are great! They made sure we had everything we needed ahead of time. The property is a very far distance from anything (fresh food, beaches Ext) are an hour+ away. With that being said, if you’re looking for a quiet place to get away from everything this is the place! Very clean lodges and an awesome fishing pier 100 feet away from your door. Would definitely return again.

Thank you so much for the kind words. Yes we are some distance from the hustle bustle of the Outer Banks but that's why most people choose to stay here. I do hope you'll be back someday. Thank you for your business Karen
Fabulous place to feel the breeze, fish, and enjoy the salt air. The house was well stocked and the porch was wonderful! Hosts are very friendly and helpful.
A great spot for a getaway! Karen's communication was fantastic, everyone we met was super friendly, and the place was great - clean, and right on the water. It also worked well as a jumping off point to visit the outer banks.

This trip was perfect!! I couldn't have spent my 40th birthday in a better place! Fishing was awesome, location was awesome, and cabin was awesome! We have decided to make this our annual trip! Thanks to the Meekins for all the hospitality!
Quiet and peaceful. The Dell and Karen are gracious and helpful. Tons of wildlife and places to explore nature in kayaks. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets! Definitely off the beaten path-which was wonderful! We had a fabulous and relaxing time!!
