One of the best values around. Perfect for beach time, enjoying Mobile Bay, etc
Our Blue Bay House is a truly a unique property- it is one of if not the oldest, existing house in the Fort Morgan area- just look at the photos- it is built on pilings approximately two (2) feet tall- not eight (8) feet. It has withstood the wear, tear, and damages inflicted by numerous hurricanes over the years- the "worse" being Hurricane Camille in 1969, a Category 5 hurricane with the strongest recorded land fall in history with 175 mph winds; and, also Hurricane Frederick in 1979, a Category 3 with 100 mph winds. Between those two hurricanes, most structures in the Fort Morgan area were destroyed or sustained substantial damages. The Blue Bay House, although damaged in those horrific events, has hung in there!
When we purchased the property approximately ten (10) years ago, it was our understanding that the property was owned by two (2) generations of the Richards family. The prior owners had actually lived off of and from the offerings of Mobile Bay as their primary means of substance-fish, shrimp, oysters- and at times, used their home as a location for the selling of bait and fishing supplies to those visiting the Fort Morgan area in the 1950's and the l 960's. In more recent times, in the early 2000s, the home was used by the Richard's family for their annual family vacations during summer holiday periods such as the 4th of July.
Our renovation of the property has been out of respect for the property's history and our attempt to "restore" the house to its former state, with the addition of a few modem conveniences. The exterior color of the home was chosen as the house has "always" been blue.
The house is located directly on Mobile Bay and offers a 200 foot long pier for fishing, crabbing, shrimping, and the docking of your boat. The house is easily accessible with only (3) steps required for entry. The Blue Bay House is a small house offering two (2) bedrooms- each having a full bed (plus there is a queen size sleeper sofa in the living area), there are no clothes closets- only open clothing storage areas; one (1) bath room a shower; and open (no cabinet doors) Blue Bay House no covered under-house under-house parking as do the "modern" homes in our coastal area which are built on pilings; it is a small house (approximately 800 square feet) being the next-to-last home on a dead end street- a few the "aspects" if you are interested in renting this property.
Because the Blue Bay House has a 200 foot pier located approximately 15 steps from the house's back deck, we ask that you use your best judgement in choosing to rent the home- all use of the pier is "at your own risk", as is docking your boat at the pier, and swimming in and around the property. A strict condition of your rental of the property is that children and your guests MUST be supervised at all times because you assume all risk for any and all personal injury associated with such activities.
That being said, we have installed during our renovation/restoration, central heat and air, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, free WiFi, small kitchen appliances, microwave, and satellite tv for your convenience and use. The bathroom has been renovated with a large, walk-in tiled shower. Perhaps the best feature of the Blue Bay House, besides its location directly on Mobile Bay, is a function of its location, being the absolutely beautiful sunrises and sunsets on Mobile Bay. If your vacation plans also include "beach time" - the beautiful, white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico are 3/100ths of a mile south of the Little Blue Bay House. The Fort Morgan historical site, which contains a public boat launch, and the Mobile Bay Ferry to Dauphin Island, is 2.5 miles to the west. Tacky Jack's restaurant is approximately one mile to the west; the Sassy Bass restaurant is approximately 2.5 miles to the east. A convenience/dock store, the "Happy Hooker" bar, and charter bay and Deep Sea fishing is located at Gulf Shores Marina ( 1 mile to the west)e; a small grocery store is located in the "Sassy Bass" strip mall. Six miles to the east, adjacent to "The Beach Club" development with restaurant, "The Pines" has a gas station, convenience store, and restaurant.
Gulf Shores is 18 miles to the east- where all the conveniences (WalMart, numerous restaurants, fully stocked grocery stores, and the typical crowds of vacationers) are located. If your desired vacation accommodations are for a home near the Gulf, and with more room and newer construction.

The place was a wonderful, quiet location. Perfect for our weekend getaway just to kick back and relax. We bought food and cooked there saved money on spending. Just a wonderful vacation place. Will definitely reserve again
We really enjoyed our stay at the Blue Bay house . It was perfect for our stay. The house was nice and clean and stocked with everything we needed . It has a cozy rustic feel. I enjoyed my mornings on the back deck looking out over the bay the best !! Our host Tina was so helpful and nice . We would definitely stay again !
The host and facility were perfection at this charming get away. The house was spotlessly clean, no bugs or critters. The appointments were delightful-everything one needed, nothing one didn’t. It had an old school charm with space age cleanliness and freshness. Looking forward to another visit as it is a fisherman’s/woman’s paradise

The house isn't fancy, but you have everything you need. We had a great time. We took our kayaks out and were surrounded by dolphins only 300 yards from the house. The fishing beach was a very short drive away, and though the walk from parking to the beach was long there were only two other people out there.
This was our first beach vacation as a family and we had a blast! We love the Fort Morgan area and your house was just perfect. It is small and isn't fancy like a high rise condo is but we sat on porch every morning and watched the water and animals in the peace and quiet! It was brilliant
Me and my Granddaughter decided to stay in Ft Morgan this year to relax and take our two small dogs. The house was perfect setting on the Bay with a big back porch to sit out in the sun and watch the water. The house was perfect for us with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath and a kitchen, that we could have used if we were going to cook. The neighbors were so nice and didn't mind us renter's in their area.
We had an awesome time. Great access to the beach and beautiful views

Even the neighbor was not happy with the way the property is maintained. There is piles of old wood and grass is more than waste high. Rats were not only around the house but in the house. After 5 minutes there wife was ready to leave but I convinced her to stay so I could fish the pier. It was NOT a place I would return to or recommend. We are far from bugee people but this was ridiculous. The place needs a lot of TLC but the owners evidently do not put any of the money back into it. Please search for another place to stay. This is sad because I have NEVER left a negative review for anything but I can’t justify just remaining silent with this one.

Sir, are you sure you and your wife were at the right place, considering all our positive reviews? Yes, this is an older house, as described in the photos and property description, but as the owner, I have yet to have any complaints from other guests about rats and any of the complaints that you have mentioned in your review. To my potential guests, please don’t allow this terrible review to overshadow the numerous positive reviews on this older, but neat cozy cottage that has an absolutely stunning view of the bay! Plus, fishing pier and our vacant lot abutting the west side of the subject property that can be used for sunbathing, children play and fishing opportunities from the sea wall. We would love to have you as our guest in this unique property!
Thank You!

I just left yesterday and I am missing this quaint little cottage terribly. I spent most of my time on the back porch with the fantastic view of the bay, watching the pelicans and cranes perched on the dock and diving for fish. The sunrise and sunsets were Spectacular!! I miss that wonderful smell of the salty sea breezes. I felt so at home and peaceful in this little cottage. It was very clean, bed was comfy, kitchen stocked with necessities, the view from the many windows was wonderful. No, this isn’t some fancy high dollar condo, but for me and my two pups, this was absolutely perfect. I can’t wait to go back again. Tina is an amazing lady!!! She checked in on me to make sure all was well and if I needed anything. Her communication was excellent and she is one of the most kindest and caring person I’ve ever met. I absolutely LOVED my stay at Blue Bay House and will definitely be back!!
Absolutely loved our stay. Pier is just steps away from the house, sandy area to sit back and relax. They have everything you need for your stay, very clean. We will be back!!
This was the perfect, no muss no fuss, place for a weekend get away. Loved being surrounded by water and able to sit on the deck and watch the dolphins play. Will definitely be back!!!

About the host
Hosted by Tina Scarborough.
We are native Alabamians. We live in Tallassee, Alabama. Joe and I enjoy actively participating in our Church, traveling with our friends, boat rides on Mobile Bay, fishing and shrimping, riding the ferry to Dauphin Island, bike rides in the Fort Morgan and Dauphin Island area, and enjoying the prettiest beach in the world- here in Ft. Morgan!
Why they chose this property
The Fort Morgan area reminds us of how Gulf Shores was forty (40) years ago- prior to the proliferation of condos. Ft. Morgan is a quiet, peaceful place to relax and enjoy the pristine white sandy beach, salt air, and ever-present Gulf breezes; a community of single-family homes, with great neighbors and friends.
What makes this property unique
The house is located directly on Mobile Bay and offers a 200 foot long pier for fishing, crabbing, shrimping, and the docking of your boat. The house is easily accessible with only (3) steps required for entry. The Blue Bay House is a small house offering two (2) bedrooms- each having a full bed (plus there is a queen size sleeper sofa in the living area), there are no clothes closets- only open clothing storage areas; one (1) bath room a shower; and open (no cabinet doors on kitchen cabinets. Why? Because that is the way its been for two generations!!) The Blue Bay House has no covered under-house parking as do the "modern" homes in our coastal area which are built at least eight (8') feet high on pilings; it is a small house (approximately 800 square feet) being the next-to-last home on a dead end street- a few the "aspects" or unique characteristics if you are interested in renting this property.
