Originally built in 1933 as a large commercial furniture warehouse it has been transformed into a vibrant multi purpose space of residential lofts & boutique businesses located directly across the street from World renowned Balboa Park.
The space
Spacious open loft with exposed ceilings - hardwood floors throughout, extraordinary natural light, over 700sf of classic mid-century furnishings & space. Stocked kitchen with coffee maker, microwave, toaster oven & refrigerator. Queen sized bed with luxurious mattress and bedding, living room with TV & bar, washer/dryer, new shower & air conditioning/heat

We were not aware that the loft was DIRECTLY UNDER the flight path of planes arriving at SD Airport. Planes arrived every 3-5 minutes starting at 6:30AM and ended after midnight. It was VERY loud and felt like the planes were about to land on the top of the loft. Not even the best loops/earplugs could drown out the sound...we tried. We almost left Saturday morning, but had nonrefundable tickets to a show that night.The ONLY indication of a flight path on the listing was the last line of House Rules which read: No filming or videos. Stairs, Subject to city noise and flight path noise.This listing is very misleading.

This disclosure is provided so guests can make an informed decision before booking. The loft is located in downtown San Diego, which is a vibrant urban environment near the airport. Aircraft noise is an external factor that we cannot control, and it is not unique to our property. For guests who are particularly sensitive to noise, we also provide earplugs as an added courtesy. We understand that noise tolerance varies from person to person, but describing the listing as "misleading" is not accurate. The flight path disclosure is included in the listing prior to booking, and we strive to be transparent about the property's location and surroundings so guests know what to expect.

The aircraft noise was significant and every 3 minutes until 10:50 pm and started again at 4:55 am. There is no soundproofing in the ceiling or the windows, so it was just too much for us, the other person with me slept with a pillow on their head.This is noted at the very bottom of the amenities. The unit itself is absolutely fine otherwise.

I suggest in the future you read the description before booking so that you aren’t surprised by information that is readily available to you. You mentioned that your family lives on the same street, which makes your comments regarding the location and surrounding environment somewhat confusing. I am sorry that you missed the disclosure in our listing, which states: "Please note this property is in downtown and in the landing flight pattern for San Diego. It is subject to city noise, air traffic, and emergency vehicles. Close proximity to the airport, hospitals, and freeways." We even provide earplugs for light sleepers, which appears to have been overlooked as well.

Centrally located so were able to walk to balboa park and Gaslamp district. 6th street parking is not free and has a 2 hour limit. 2 of the parking meters in the front of the building were broke so we just parked there. Bathroom has no counter space. We liked the planes flying overhead and the fact that we were the only people in the building at night.

A solid loft, but a bit awkward that the place is intermixed with businesses. Parking on the street is fine, but be aware that cars have to be moved after 8 AM off of sixth Avenue. Be aware that there is substantial flight noise in the loft. There isn’t sufficient sound proofing for the place, so be prepared to hear planes. The host has ear plugs, but I feel that’s a band aid fix. Sad that I visited a CVS a block away and the planes could barely be heard.

Not a pleasant guest to host. Left the loft very messy and ignored checkout instructions. Guest did not read thru the listing. I suggest in the future reading the description before booking so that you aren’t surprised by information that is readily available to you. Close proximity to airport, hospitals and freeways. There is no elevator and must use stairs to access. SD city allows construction from 7AM-7PM. Which you could hear from time to time.
We do not allow pets/animals of any kind because we have a family member allergic to dog/animal dander/ hair. .Use LBX to prevent loss of keys
