Thank you for such a great review. Just to clarify for future travelers, the house is located in heart of Oceanside.
We enjoyed a short getaway at one of our favorite destinations on the Oregon Coast.
This property has all the things we love - bright, large windows, comfortable furniture, close to the beach, and a great view of the three arch rocks!
Needed more toilet paper but Susie provided it immediate. Shades would be nice. There are a LOT of stairs. Not for the old or infirm. BUT, the house is wonderful and has comfy beds and bedding. The kitchen has the basics. We did need to buy salt and pepper. Susie is an excellent just and very responsive. Short walk to the beach.
We loved the convenience of this beach home. If you don't mind the stairs up from the street you'll find a great view, comfortable spaces and close proximity to beach and eateries. We brought two dogs, 5 adults and one toddler and the place worked well for us!
Great rental! Loved the open layout of the kitchen/living room. Mattresses upstairs werent great but sufficed. It should be noted you have to walk upstairs to get in. Great view from living room. Very cozy and nice. Loved it.
We had a great and relaxing time! The house was very clean and well stocked. One of the things I wnjoyed the most was the amazing ocean view from the living room! Cant beat that! It would be great to
go in the summer to enjoy the beach more. Totally recommend staying at Nancy’s look out! I will definatelly rent it again.
Stay seemed like it would be fine but then owners tried to nickel and dime the refund out of us. Toilet clogged while there. This happens but often this results in money back, not requesting we pay for it. We did extra cleaning because they provided late check out. Complained about a few dishes left behind, garbage which was unclear considering we had to use dumpster across the street due to full garbage cans, stealing a comforter, and breaking a molding. I have nothing to say about the last 2, just confused by it. Have been using VRBO for a long time. Have never had an issue like this. Find another place in Oceanside because there are many others to choose from.

We generally love to leave good reviews of guests. We have a 2 year history with hundreds of guests across several platforms staying in our rental. These guests have left us wonderful reviews. We take great pride in providing our guests with a beautiful, and spotlessly clean rental.
Shame on you for dumping your garbage in someone else's garbage can. You had 2 large, empty garbage can to start with. You only needed to contact us and we would have happily picked up the extra bags.
You are the first person we have kept the security deposit from. Here are the reasons we kept the deposit. These have already been discussed with you privately.
1. Toilet impressively clogged with no communication leaving us scrambling to deal with before next guests arrived. We can only assume you didn't want us to see how many people you had in the house.
2. Broken glassware
3. Damaged wall
4. Reservation for 3 guests, many, many more people staying at house.
5. Missing linens
6. Pictures and mirror removed from walls requiring rehanging.
7. Crab guts thrown in yard requiring power washing.
8. Smoke detector removed and dismantled
9. Sink literally overflowing with dishes, dirty dishes and silverware placed in cabinets requiring everything to be removed and washed.
10. Burnt carcass in oven.
11. Microwave and refrigerator interiors coated with crab.
Good luck with future rentals We can only hope you won't treat other home owners in this manner.
We really enjoyed our stay at Nancy's Lookout. The house is clean, comfortable and well-stocked. We loved the beautiful view of the beach from the home's expansive windows, and really enjoyed the perfect stretch of beach that is a short walk away. We chose this house because it was important to us to have a place that allowed dogs. As another reviewer mentioned, it would have been helpful to have some sort of gate on the side deck that has stairs straight down to the street. We were nervous to let our dogs just sit on the deck, so kept them leashed, which wasn't ideal.
Our only real complaint was the beds. We are used to sleeping on memory foam mattresses, and found these beds to be on the hard side. That, of course, is a matter of personal preference; some people like harder mattresses, but we did not find these beds to be particularly comfortable. But the more pressing issue for us was the size of the beds. The house is advertised as accommodating 6 adults. I took that at face value, and did not really consider the fact that there are two queen beds and one double. The bedrooms are small, so maybe larger beds would not fit in the rooms, but unless you're 6 very small adults, you may feel squished with this bed arrangement. Our group included my husband and me, our two grown sons and their partners. The unlucky couple that ended up in the double bed were not thrilled. Maybe more accurate to advertise as accommodating 5 adults. Other than that, loved this place!

Hi Janie,
Thank you for the review. A gate is on our to do list.
Regarding the beds, we clearly state that there are 2 queens and 1 full bed in our room descriptions. I’m sorry you found the beds too firm.
The house is very nice inside, has a terrific view of the ocean, and also has a great location in Oceanside. It is a very short walk to the beach and an even shorter walk to our favorite restaurant, Roseanna's Cafe.
While I did not ding this place in my overall rating, there are a few improvements I would suggest to the owners to make this house even better - and these suggestions would not cost a lot to implement. First, the house needs more dishes and silverware. We had only six dinner plates, and about the same number of knives, forks and spoon. This resulted in running the dishwasher almost every day so that we would have clean dishes, etc. Second, I would suggest that a gas grill would greatly enhance the outdoor cooking experience. Charcoal grills just don't cut it when you want to quickly BBQ something. Third, it would be great to have a King bed in at least one bedroom. (Either of the upstairs bedrooms have room for one.) Last, a gate on the side deck would be great for those who (like us) have a dog and want to make sure it does not go down to the busy street if someone leaves the side door open. Also a good thing for families who have small kids, as the stairs down to the street are long and steep and would make for a bad fall for toddlers.
Susie was wonderful to deal with. And yes, we could have called her and asked for more dishes, but it was not a big deal and we are not the kind of people who make mountains out of molehills - to use an old phrase.
All in all, I gave Nancy's Lookout five stars and look forward to returning there again someday.
Susie is a great host. This property was recently renovated and they did a fabulous job. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom upstairs and an additional bathroom and bedroom on the main floor. All were clean and bright. There are large windows that overlook the ocean and the Main Street in Oceanside. Access to the beach from this property is fantastic. Parking is available on street, there is a lower level that is occupied part time however this is not a distraction to the property at all, and that person has no access to the rental area. The kitchen was very nicely appointed with a custom island, decent appliances and all items one would need to comfortably cook on a vacation. Communication with the owner was fabulous.
The breeze and glimpse and scent of the ocean draws one out.
The clean, updated, simple, inspiring, relaxing atmosphere make for a lovely stay. Know, if you are challenged, that there are fifteen steps up (and a sturdy railing) to enter. Once in, though, there is a main-floor bedroom and bath. One of the two upstairs bedrooms, where we slept, has a enticing view of the ocean and arches. I didn't remember in the ad that there is no use of the garage. The parking was adequate outside of it for one car. The other parking space is minimal, but perhaps typical for in-town. The three beds are all full or queen and very comfortable. The manager, Susie, responded promptly to all communication
