About this property

Koi Cottage With Mineral Hot Tub ~ Located Minutes From The Upper Meramec River

The Koi Cottage is a great place for family to get away and enjoy the country in a private setting.
The rate for the Koi Cottage is for 4 guest. We are now offering our Goldfish cabin to be rented with our Koi Cottage. This is a one bedroom cabin with full bath and Roku TV. With the Goldfish cabin, we can accommodate 6 or if a couple is interested in having their own private space. This cabin is only rented in addition to the Koi cottage. The rate is an additional $70 per night. It is furnished with linens and towels, coffee pot, filters, creamer and sugar. If you are interested in adding the Goldfish cabin, I will send a separate payment request.
The Koi Cottage is a single level living, no stairs for easy access. It starts with a large concrete patio with fire pit, table and chairs, charcoal grill.
Off of the patio there is an outdoor room where you will find a wood burning stove, chairs, The outdoor room is surrounded with windows to enjoy the outdoors from the warmth from within.
When you walk indoors, you enter the living room with satellite TV, comfortable reclining couch and love seat. We also have a large selection of books for reading enjoyment.
Off of the living room is a sun room which has a futon to open up for extra sleeping and the view of the Koi pond. The sun room has cordless pull shades on all windows plus a room divider to create a comfortable sleeping area. There is a electric fireplace in the sun room which can be enjoyed from the living room.
From the living room you enter the dining area with table and chairs that will accommodate 4.
The kitchen has a refrigerator with ice maker, stove, microwave, dish washer, toaster oven and coffee pot. It's stocked with all the dishware you will need, utensils and pots and pans.
The large bedroom has a queen size log bed with linens and a large closet for your cloths.
Bathroom is a full bathroom with tub and shower, towels and washcloths.
There is a washer and dryer for your convenience.
The mineral hot tub is located on the back deck. Where you can enjoy the hot tub in private.

Check-out instructions

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load the dishwasher
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Wash dishes and return to cabinets . Please, make sure they are clean before putting away. Scrape leftover food and rinse dishes before putting in dishwasher
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
On check out, please put your trash in the trash can by the road. Wash any of the dishes and put them back in the cabinet Thank you, Cindy
Do not let your pets run free or left unattended, unless left in a pet kennel. Clean up after pets
No smoking inside the cottage. Smoking inside will result in a charge of $250 for damages and possible loss of income

We had a great stay! The hot tub was fantastic and the surrounding area was beautiful. There are two extra cabins on the property that were unoccupied but we were unaware of before arriving.

We made the best of a difficult situation. When first walking in, you are hit with an overwhelming musty smell. The one air purifier does not eliminate the smell. Within the first few hours mice will be eating your dinner on the counter. Although the host seemed surprised to hear this from me, there were obvious signs of mouse issues (bite marks on plastic silverware holder and mouse poop throughout cabinets and drawers) The pictures are outdated and do not reflect the cabins current state. The coffe pots lid is broken, so beware of spilling. The fridge has multiple broken components, making it hard to store items from mice. When communcating with the host, she was overall argumentative, saying that she thinks I'm just a little extra. Unfortunately, we were not able to relocate given our money was tied up in this property. She did go get us mouse traps and peanut butter. We had to spend more money on eating out because we weren't comfortable cooking in the cabin. Not once did the host attempt to give me a break on the price. She did offer to reimburse the food the mice ate, but that felt more like an insult than a soultuion. Please beware of what you are signing up for especially if you are uncomfortable sharing food with mice, have asthma, or allergies.

One thing I have learned in hosting, I cannot please everyone. I would like to and I try to. This guest said she saw mice and I was surprised because no previous guest had mentioned that to me and I spend a lot of money to keep them out. She wanted mouse traps and peanut butter so, I went out right away and purchased those items plus a plastic tub with a lid for storage. The cottage is located in the woods. We have a professional service to service the cabin for mice and bugs but, being located in the woods, it can be a battle. I am not an argumentative person but, I can only be screamed at for so long. The refrigerator is a nice refrigerator. A previous guest broke two shelves on the door. I didn’t realize that the plastic was cracked and unable to hold heavy items. I disagree about the pictures. We have actually done some updating since those pictures.

Very comfortable & quiet cabin. We had a nice relaxing time both inside & outside. The hot tub was wonderful as was the fire pit & Koi pond. The cabin was close to great activities as well, Caves, museums & Route 66.

Bed bugs are an owners worst nightmare. My pest control company came out right away and we closed the cabin for 2 weeks for treatment. Our cabins are sprayed twice a year, instead and outside. The owner of the pest control company told me that bed bugs are usually brought in by guests suitcases. She recommends to never store your suitcase on a floor of a hotel or rental home. We were very sorry that this guest needed to cancel their reservation and refunded full amount after we knew that there was an issue.
