We really enjoyed our stay! The location was perfect, the parking included was great, and even though this unit is separate from the hotel, the hotel staff were all kind and helpful throughout our stay. We utilized the beach chairs that the hosts provided, it was a nice bonus that we didn’t expect. The only complaint would be better cleaning needing to be done. I messaged the host and they replied that they’ll let their cleaning staff know. We would definitely stay again in the future.
Convenient location on bus line, but beach, harbor, and Ala Moana Center all very walkable. Has all necessary amenities for a functional, comfortable stay. AC, wifi, TV, mini fridge and shower all performed as expected. Nice lower-floor view, some street noise, but not too bad.Finishes are….well…well-loved, and have been for a while. But you don’t come here to hang out in your room, right? If you’re finicky about light rust and some musty smells, your search needs tweaking. This is low-frills, high-value lodging that had everything I needed. I would recommend and would stay here again.
Great location and convenient parking space. The host was very responsive. The unit was clean but was the furniture was not as updated as expected and it could use paint job . Overall, a good experience.

Good location - that is all
The location of the condo is good to be able to walk to the beach and shopping. However, the cleanliness and upgrades for the condo were lacking.

aloha Bethany - sorry you experienced some issues during your stay, you feedback has been noted and addressed - respectfully, Mark G.H.
Misleading descriptions!! Kitchenette? I assume would include a stove, refrigerator with a freezer and a kitchen sink. Only sink in the bathroom with no dish soap. The tub/shower needs a rubber mat or non slip coating. As a senior I had difficulties getting out of the shower. The TV remote needs the battery replaced, or remote replaced. Very difficult to get working. Also, parking space number should be included in the directions to the hotel. Had to ask at the front desk. This is hotel room with parking. Staying at the hotel would have cost the same but we would get daily housekeeping.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I’ll address your points plainly.
Our listing photos and description accurately show the kitchenette setup — a compact fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, with no stove or kitchen sink. We make sure those amenities are clearly disclosed so guests know exactly what to expect before booking.
Regarding the bathroom, we’ll add a note about a rubber mat for those who want extra traction. The remote battery has since been swapped out, and parking instructions do include the garage location and permit process, though I agree adding the exact stall number upfront is a useful improvement.
As for housekeeping, condo-hotel units booked through private owners don’t include daily service — that’s reflected in the pricing and outlined in the listing. Booking a hotel direct you would be paying an extras $50 / day plus 18% taxes, signifgntly more than this budget apartment.
Mahalo for the feedback. It helps us tighten up details for the next guest.
Hallways under renovation, room smelled bad, bed skirts were miss matched, one of the beds metal frame was placed in the front side hurting every time we passed by. Balcony was very odd to use and TV didn't work at all. Luckily host has refunded for remaining nights that we didn't use.

We are happy with our stay and the location of this room. It was what we were looking for, the location we wanted and we just picked the cheapest place that had what we needed (AC, 2 queen beds (not a sofa bed), and free parking). We had stayed in the Aqua Palms before, so we knew it was an older building and that the parking garage was tight so we were prepared for all of that. The beds were comfortable, the fridge worked, the AC worked great. The only downside was that it could have been cleaner. There were things on the walls that needed to be cleaned off, there was sand or dirt on the floor, so much so that we were wondering if maybe the cleaners forgot to sweep. The beds, however, were clean, we didn’t find any bugs, roaches or anything like that. They were working on the floor we were on so there was coverings on the floor of the hallways, which may bother others, but we didn’t have a problem with it. Over all, we would stay here again. We only are in our room to sleep and get ready so we don’t require anything fancy. Thanks for making our stay in O’ahu great!

Mold and old
Mold, outdated, and awkward. Upon arrival, noticed the place had a musky earthy smell. I just assumed it was due to the natural humid climate. Also discovered that the mini fridge was sticking out from under the counter and off. The bathroom faucet was too big - meant for a kitchen or very large bath sink. If you bend over the middle of the sink without looking, you could bang your face into the faucet. After a couple days of feeling allergy symptoms, we discovered mold on one of the pillows. The owner did respond in a timely manner and replaced the pillow and sheets so we did appreciate that. We found it to be an unpleasant and uncomfortable place and left early.

Aloha,
The unit is older — that’s never hidden — but it’s kept clean and maintained, and there’s nothing in our regular inspections indicating any mold issue before your stay. The unit had been closed up for several days prior to your arrival however aired out quickly once the AC is running.
You reported a pillow with discoloration a couple of days into your visit, and we replaced the pillow and linens immediately. That was the first time anything like that had been noted in this unit. The mini-fridge was left pulled forward by the prior guest; housekeeping should have caught that, and that’s on us — it has since been corrected. The faucet is a higher-arc style, exactly as shown in the listing photos, but I understand not everyone likes that design.
You elected to leave early, and while the unit was fully functional and serviced, I respect that it wasn’t the right fit for you. Mahalo for giving us the chance to address the one issue you raised during the stay.
This was the worst vrbo unit I’ve ever rented, from the moment we checked in the toilet was clogged and flooding the bathroom, host took about four hours to respond to my message, he said he would send someone to come fix but nobody showed up so we had to use the bathroom at the front desk of the hotel. When someone finally showed up to fix, he complained that it was after hours and even mentioned he didn’t have hot water at his own place. He basically said there’s nothing he could do besides plunging the toilet and throw some towels around for the flood but it didn’t fix the problem. Place also smelled like mold and cigarettes. Shower head had visible mold in it.. they did at least give me my refund.

Aloha,
I’ll lay out the facts so future guests have a clear picture.
You reported the toilet issue shortly after check-in, and we responded the same afternoon. Our on-call maintenance tech did go out, but it was an after-hours situation and he could only do an emergency clearing until a full repair could be scheduled. The unit’s plumbing line needed more than a simple plunge, and we didn’t want you stuck relying on a partial fix. That’s why we offered an immediate checkout with a full refund, which you accepted.
As for the comments about mold or cigarette odor, nothing in the unit’s inspection before your arrival indicated either, and housekeeping did not report any smell or visible mold. Still, we take that kind of concern seriously and had the unit re-cleaned and re-checked afterward.
I know the stay didn’t work out, and that’s unfortunate, but we did address the issue promptly and made sure you weren’t charged for unused nights.

The Aqua Palms is a 3 star property. The good - price was good, across the street from HHV, comfortable bed, free parking. The bad - we were on the Covid Quarantine floor. There were 14 rooms on the 3rd floor that were housing quarantine people. I was upset that no one mentioned this to me either prior to me renting or when I checked in. Every time I left my room I secured my mask and held my breath going to the elevator.
The ventilation in the room is poor and it always smelled moldy when you enter the room.
This is my second time staying at AP and probably my last. The hotel part is run down and the trash is over flowing on each floor and it smells. It’s a shame because I really like the location.

I would just like to clarify, the guests are NOT covid patients - these are guest who are about to be repatriated to their homes in the Pacific Islands and therefore have to quarantine prior to travel - this includes ABSOLUTELY no contact with the outside world - thus meal deliveries and daily testing for these guests to ensure that they are covid free and able to gain entry back to the islands.
We had a great stay in this apartment. It was handy to see Waikiki and close enough to walk to Ala Moana Centre. Just a short walk to the lagoon to watch Friday night fireworks too!
The best thing about this place is the free parking. Although navigating through the lot is a very tight squeeze, nothing beats being able to leave the hotel room and not having to worry about parking coming back. They have beach mats, umbrella, chairs, and a mini cooler to use which is a huge plus as well. Excellent and strong AC unit to cool off. The room doesn't feel very old like many of the buildings in the area. Host was very responsive if we had any questions.
We didn't take advantage of the balcony because it was a little dirty. You will hear traffic since the room is by a big street, but it is not awful by any means.
Would recommend!
