River front log home 3 miles from Tryon Equestrian Center, gated community
This spacious log home on 2.5wooded acres has all the comforts of home with a warm “ lived in” vibe. It can easily be shared by 2 couples. Kids love the sleeping loft. A favorite feature is the large working fireplace. Enjoy roasting marshmallows at the fire pit by the river. The living room features generous vaulted ceiling that frames your view of the tall trees out back sloping down to the Green River. A large working fire place is the focal point of the room. The main floor has a split floor plan with King master suite and Queen guest suit and a sleeping loft with 2 twins. Down stairs is off limits due to hurricane Helene damage. The cabin was built in 2003, has new living room furniture. It is a country cabin so bugs crawl and leaves fall.
There are a wide variety of activities close by including Tryon International Equestrian Center, trails, rafting ( check updates on hurricane Helene recovery for trails open) There are many charming villages in the area.

The property was close to Tryon Equestrian Center which made handling the competition, horse and related matters very easy. Nice place to relax after a long day at the horse park. Steffanie, the Host, was fantastic to deal with!
2 nights were not enough to enjoy the deck, scenery & peacefulness of this home. We stayed 2 nights to attend a wedding- however flights were delayed and cancelled so we got in way later than we anticipated on night 1, but we still enjoyed the lovely deck & quiet of the outdoor sounds for a couple of hours. The next morning we were off early to see family, attend family wedding, spent midnight- 3 am in the Rutherfordton's ER - my youngest adult son broke his leg at the reception. By the time we got back to the house & all got settled for the night, we all went straight to bed. Got up in time to pack up & clean up to be out by 10 a.m. the house was lovely, but we all wished we could have stayed longer or at least 1 more evening to enjoy the deck and beautiful surroundings. Next time we go to NC, we would love to stay here again. Thank you Steffanie. P.s. communication was great w Steffanie too.
We were in and out since we had a horse show all weekend at TIEC, but when we were able to relax, the beds were so comfortable, the pool table was a blast and you couldn’t beat that beautiful, cool river water after a long hot day. Would absolutely love to come here again!
Stayed here during a horse show week and it was the perfect getaway and close enough to go back & forth. Typical older lakehouse but well loved. It was perfect for a ladies getaway. Only hitch is that 4th bedroom is only accessed via attic pull down stairs which would be great for kids.... older women not so much. Plan on definitely staying again next year!
Loved our stay at this property. The house is well equipped, and super convenient to the Tryon Equestrian Center (about 10 minutes drive). Communication with the host was very easy too.
We had a great stay. After a long day at the horse park day one our second day was much more relaxed and we were able to come back and enjoy an afternoon on the deck hanging out, having dinner and having a fun few games of pool. I perfectly cute place with lots of extras. We so enjoyed our trip.
We enjoyed our visit! The fireplace was so cozy and the bathrooms had new towels, shower curtains, hand towels. My daughter enjoyed the pool table. The beds were comfortable. Plenty of room for everyone.
We had the best time at your cabin. Although it was only for two nights, we felt at home. Everything we needed was available, which made trips to the store obsolete. Thank you so much Steffanie! We will return!
Well I can't say enough great things about this property !!!! Clean, cozy, spacious and so homey. You will not regret staying here !!!!! There was absolutely nothing missing !!! The downstairs is the same size as the whole upstairs and you literally could take multiple families there ! So happy I chose their home and I would definitely stay there 100 more times !!!!

The house was lovely ! Clean and tidy. It was a great location to TIEC. The 3 rd bedroom was in the loft using attic stair case so we only used the two bedrooms on main floor. Beautiful view near the river.
Zero negatives.....nothing but positives. If you are looking for relaxation, peace, and the ability to just unwind....this lovely home fits the bill. From the moment we arrived, it just felt good. For us, we enjoyed relaxing in the river, caught several fish (8 to be exact), tubing down to the park. As well as canoeing up and down the river. Not to mention the deer. It was just so peaceful. Only wish we could have stayed longer. Definitely looking forward to returning. Without a doubt, a winner!!!
What a great vacation house for our family of 6. All the beds were very comfortable which is important to me because I have a bad back. The kitchen was fully stocked, the pool table was great and everything inside was very clean.
We did end up having to purchase our own River tubes because we could not find any on the property. It wasn’t a big deal to us, but other travelers should be aware. We also didn’t see a canoe anywhere.
I didn’t give 5 stars for cleanliness because out back of the property there was some old broken down small tables and plastic bins by the shed. There was also a roll of old screen on the deck.
Our favorite thing was being able to go tubing right out back of the property. We really enjoyed the convenience of this! We also loved going to Chimney Rock State Park which was about a 45 minute drive and well worth it.
We loved this property and would definitely stay here again!
What a beautiful retreat to this lovely home! The photos are spot on and the property was exactly as advertised. This was our first trip to the Lake Lure area and our stay was way too short to fit it all in. The most difficult part of our stay was choosing what to do! The home was so cozy and inviting and the river in the backyard and the community area would have been plenty for us to explore if we just wanted to stay close to home. We did hike some nearby falls and Chimney Rock and explored Lake Lure and the charming town of Tryon but we were always being drawn back to the serenity and privacy of the house. Steffanie was great about accommodating us last minute and very responsive to my inquiry! Overall, the looks on my kids faces as they found the joy of unplugging and splashing in the river and climbing on rocks made this a weekend getaway my family will never forget!
We found the home to be exactly as described.- spacious and lovely - just like the surrounding property. Furnishings were what one would expect to find in a traditional log home - casual and comfortable but also nice. Access to the loft is via pull down ladder (like an attic access pull-down). Kitchen was adequately stocked with pots, utensils, etc. There were screens on the doors which were great for enjoying the cool evenings.
Wi-fi and cell signals were fine though we hardly used either as we were too busy enjoying the outdoors during the day and game room/pool table at night.
The home is located on a great part of the Green River with some spots around 3’ deep and others less than a foot. Current was mild during our stay and floating around/wading was easy. There was a small beach at the access but getting down to it could be challenging for elderly people as the embankment was a bit steep with soft, sliding sand.
One note about water pressure - it was great until our final morning there when the neighbor started pressure washing at 8am. Not sure how that impacted the water for this house but there was a significant decrease in pressure. That was the only problem we had the whole time and out of the owner’s control, obviously.
Two teenagers, two adults, one springer spaniel and we all felt it was one of our all-time favorite getaways. Haven’t come back from vacation feeling that relaxed in a very long time. would revisit again in a heart beat.

About the host
Hosted by Steffanie Pearce-Vasquez
My parents built this log home in 2005 so that our family would have a place to gather in the summers. We have enjoyed many large family gatherings here. It is far away from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives as business owners and parents of school age kids. Our family is originally from northern Ohio. We all migrated south and most of us live in southwest Florida now.
Why they chose this property
We chose this property because it offers a contrast to our regular life style. We enjoy the inspiring views of the mountains and cooler weather than we get in Florida summers. The gated community of log homes provides security but the neighbors know each other and are always welcoming. Wild life is abundant here, deer, humming birds, wild turkey all visit us. There are plenty of family adventures within a 45 minute drive of the cabin.
