I can't say enough about how perfect Casa Allegria was for us. We achieved ultimate relaxation in a paradise setting.
As described by the owner, the birds in the morning with my coffee, while looking over the valley was the best way to start any day. We loved the fact that we didn't have to fight for a lounge chair as compared to staying at a resort. The back patio at Casa Aleggria has enough chairs, loungers and couches to seat 20 or more people and we tried them all. They were all great. Lounging in the pool was our favourite thing to do. We could lean up against the infinity edge and look out over the valley. There we could see butterflies, hummingbirds, huge pilliated woodpeckers, flocks of green parrots, Costa Rican blue jays and a bunch of other birds species.
Speaking of the owner, Jacqueline was extremely helpful leading up to our trip. She offered advice on local attractions, restaurants and grocery stores.
There is a fresh fruit stand near the front gate of the complex she recommended that was great. We loaded up on fresh pineapple, papaya, mangoes, passion fruit and cantaloupe. All were full of flavour and super cheap. We also checked out the fish monger she had recommended. Juan Carlos welcomed us into his shop and showed us his product. He had some fresh sea bass caught that morning. He prepared the fillets while we waited and we left with 3 pounds of incredible fish for $10 per pound! This stuff sells for $35 per pound at home... awesome! We also scored some huge shrimp.
Getting back to the house... now we have to cook all this amazing seafood. The kitchen has everything any chef could possibly need. The gas stove top was great and we had a wide variety of pots and pans. There is also a high end convection oven. There are 2 barbecues on the patio (one gas and one charcoal). Imagine grilling huge shrimp while parrots are flying by and howler monkeys can be heard in the distance.
The bed in the seperate master was so comfortable, we slept so well. The ensuite bath had a huge shower with an awesome rainshower head. There were plenty of plush towels as well as an assortment of pool and beach towels. The 2 bedrooms in the main house were also very nice. Each one with it's own seperate balcony. The living room featured a couch and love seat that were super comfortable. There was a nice flat screen and a wide selection of books. We loved the decor and finishings all through the house.
In a word, Casa Allegria is stunning, inside and out.
