Such a cool place... once you get there. Road there is dirt w/huge potholes. We had to back up twice to get a run at it. Definitely recommend a 4-wheel drive for access. Other than that, it's pretty close to town, the view was beautiful, house was very comfortable, pool was amazing and the hosts were very receptive. We had a great time!
This house is beautiful! We have stayed at rental houses all over the world and this was one of the best. The outdoor spaces are incredible. Beautiful private pool. Outdoor dining table. Outdoor lounge patio. Beautiful grounds. The inside is a bit cozy but everything you need including gorgeous views from the bedrooms. It was perfect for our family of four with a four year old and a teenager.
Beautiful house, wonderful and helpful management. It’s a beautiful piece of heaven. We would rent it again in a minute. Even better than the pictures.
We really enjoyed out stay! The house is beautiful, spotless and better in person than the photos! At night you can hear the waves crashing on beach and the views are 360 degrees from the mountains to the coast and town. The drive up the hill to the house is steep, we had no issues in a 4 door sedan. If renting a golf cart for the week, make sure to get a lithium battery cart as they have more power for the hill. Having the pool after a day at the beach was magnificient, the sunrises and sunsets are marvalous! Nancy and her husband are very responsive and are very helpful with any questions, we would love to return for a future stay. A Hill & Family - Minnesota
One of the best properties I’ve stayed at! Such a beautiful location surrounded by plants and beautiful birds. The hosts are so nice and responsive and will help with anything. If you want a quiet experience with privacy this is the place to pick. Only a 10 min walk to downtown but be ready for some hills! 5 stars! Gracias!!
We absolutely loved our stay at this hilltop home in Sayulita! The property offered the perfect blend of privacy, safety, and comfort. Tucked away above town with breathtaking views of the ocean, sunsets and lush surroundings. The house itself was beautifully designed with a great floor plan and a private pool. One of my favorite moments was having massages on the patio while the kids swam. Such a peaceful and memorable afternoon. I also cherished my quiet morning coffee in the living room, taking in the view before the day began. As others have mentioned, the road up to the house is steep. We found that the golf cart actually handled it better than our rental car (a Toyota RAV4) so having both was useful for getting around town. The staff was exceptional. So helpful and responsive in the lead up to our trip and their recommendations for activities, restaurants, and massages really elevated our experience. Truly top-notch service. This home gave us the relaxing escape we were hoping for, and we only wish we could’ve stayed longer. I wouldn’t hesitate to return or stay it one of their properties again. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Luciérnaga! The property is incredibly beautiful with all the plans and tress and birds - an absolute paradise! The house was very clean when we arrived and was cleaned once while we were there as well as the pool being maintained a few times. It would be great to have a schedule for these interruptions so we could have planned to be out of the house/not using the pool during these times. Nancy helped us arrange a transport to and from the airport, which was awesome. The walk to town is a bit treacherous, but also incredibly interesting. There is a dog at the neighbors house (Rocko), and if you are nervous, the family there will help out - they were very sweet! The kitchen at the house is quite basic and dated. We would would have loved to have a few more things such as a tea kettle, and a few large bowls/serving dishes. However, it's easy to forget about these minor things when looking out the window at the ocean or chilling by the pool in the jungle oasis!
We had a great time! Great ac in the bedrooms- beautiful views!! Pool was perfect temp! Nancy and her husband were so responsive with anything that can up, and helped me get a pack and play before we arrived.
This was a beautiful property and perfect for our party of 6. It was a nice and peaceful escape from the bustling and fun downtown. We really enjoyed the outdoor areas to relax. We had all of the amenities needed to prepare breakfast, snacks and blended margaritas. I definitely recommend golf carts to go into town. Nancy was great to help arrange our transportation to and from the PV airport and quick to respond to any questions we had. We would absolutely stay here again.
It was our first time in Sayulita. So it was great that Nancy helped us book our transportation from the airport and & back. She had a lot of recommendations for us. We were a family of 4 adults (my sister, mom and stepdad + me). The town is small and easy to navigate. The food is great and the people are so nice.
The house was about a 12 minute walk down hill and maybe a 15+ minute walk back up…depending on how well you do with inclines. I liked that we were tucked away. The house is so cool. We loved how private and peaceful it is. Waking up and watching the sunrise from the front patio was epic. We hired a chef one evening from their binder of recommendations. It was so delicious and nice to have a quiet evening in. The only thing we weren’t use to was the bugs and lizards, but after a few days in we got use to it. We rented a golf cart for the week to get around. At first we were skeptical about the cart making it up the unpaved portion of the road. It was totally fine and fun carting around. Having a pool was so nice for the days we didn't want to be at the beach. Probably one of my favorite features is the upstairs outdoor bathroom. Overall the experience was great and Nancy was very helpful and quick to respond to questions. We enjoyed our stay so much we have already talked about coming back and potentially making this a regular destination.
We had a very relaxing stay in the owner’s beautiful home high up on a hill away from the hustle and bustle of the town. The house is lovely, just as pictured , even nicer. The owner very helpful and prompt in her replies. She arranged a cab to and from PV so we were safely delivered to the house. Excellent cleaning and pool service, beds very comfortable, felt very safe. There was always a cool breeze with a great view to enjoy. The dusty hill up and down was a good work out for us, all over 65 and we had no problems with it. Not recommended for someone with mobility issues though. Great new vegetable store and modern clean well stocked grocery store near the bottom of the hill. We really enjoyed the pool area sitting and reading, cooling off after a day in town or on this beach.
I would highly recommend this rental to anyone who wanted a quiet relaxing stay in Salulita, the best of both world’s the town has to offer.
The property was even better than expected. Cleaner came once while we were there to refresh it for us. The host was great, helped us with referrals and travel arrangements and just a pleasure to deal with. I definitely recommend.
We had an excellent time here. The property is beautiful, with views in all directions, and the grounds well maintained.
The pool area was a highlight for our 8 and 10 year olds, and a great way to unwind after exploring town and beyond.
The location worked well from us. The walk to town wasn't too bad, and the benefit of being away from the noisy nights in town, and the setting, made up for it. The house is located at the top of the hill, though, so the hike back up is al little steep, up a bumpy dirt road. Our kids did fine, and having the pool to jump into after the climb was a good incentive! There are a few shops and restaurants at the bottom of the hill.
The house itself is very charming. The three bedrooms are all upstairs, which worked well for our family. The main indoor bathroom is downstairs, with the second bathroom being outdoors, attached to the main bedroom upstairs. There is no laundry onsite.
The house was very clean when we arrived, and the housekeeper came once during the week to tidy things up. There were a few oddities that could use some repairs, but in the end, these just added to the charm once we settled in.
Overall, we loved the property and would stay again. A great alternative to the typical condos we've stayed in before.
We throughly enjoyed our stay. The home is interesting architecturally, and is wonderfully light and open. This is NOT your generic resort condo! We especially liked the variety of outdoor seating places where we could relax and chat or read amidst the gorgeous and well-maintained foliage. While we enjoyed our daily excursions into the crowded hubbub of town, we really preferred life in our house-on-a-hill So peaceful, punctuated with the pleasing sounds of roosters crowing and children playing on the schoolyard (vs the loud party music in town). Such a nice sanctuary! We rented a golf cart, mainly because the rutty dirt road down to the main street was challenging for my 91 year old Mom. While the town is easily accessible by foot, we did enjoy tooling around in our golf cart. On the food front -- we did a lot of cooking at home (the kitchen seemed a little understocked & could use an upgrade), and only discovered our 'favorite' place to eat toward the end of our stay -- that is, the barely marked 'restaurant' at the bottom of the hill (across the street and to the south) where we could get inexpensive and yummy 'home-cooked' breakfasts and lunches, all prepared by a delightful woman. Think carefully about what you want out of your Sayulita experience -- if you're looking for quietitude and beauty, & are the type of person who would appreciate a bathroom that included an outdoor shower and toilet, this place is a great option!
Not sure how to get any better than this. We were a family of six adults. This VRBO was peaceful, beautiful, comfortable and the host was great - super helpful with everything from arranging a cook for us to arranging our transportation. We recommend 100%.
Our family, two sons and their wives recently spent 10 days at this beautiful Casa!
Our host arranged taxi service, there and back to airport, which was great not to be concerned in finding the residence.
We had excellent housecleaning and pool management.
The home was absolutely gorgeous, and we enjoyed many meals there as it was well stocked with staples, paper products, towels, bedding, fans, rugs, ac, but really not required.
We spent a lot of time at the pool…..you feel like you are truly in a tropical jungle.
Would highly recommend………as in previous review….the climb up to the Casa is a little daunting, so anyone with limitations this would not work.
Perched on a hilltop, this place is a private slice of heaven
The pictures do not do this property justice! We stayed at this casa with 3 couples and it was absolutely perfect. The host is very communicative and friendly (thank you Nancy!). As well, the room arrangements are very nice (2 kings and 1 queen room); the master is absolutely stunning with an outdoor washroom and then each of the other bedrooms has their own private balcony and view and share a bathroom downstairs. There are three outdoor lounge areas to choose from (dining table, lounge area & pool) and one large indoor living room. The pool space gets all day sun and is private and much larger than it looks. The kitchen is small but very well equipped with a great blender, sharp knives and lots of dishes & glassware.
The casa is perched on a hill (makes for great views) and is out of the hustle and bustle of town. We loved waking up to the jungle sounds around us! It's about a 15-20 mins walk to town or the beach and we opted to primarily walk or occasionally Uber/taxi rather than rent golf carts. However, if you plan on making multiple trips to town each day, have children, or don't enjoy walking, a golf cart would be a good idea.
We would all highly recommend staying here :)
Had a great time, renting a cart from Riviera was a must for my recouping knee. Did lunches in town, dinners at the house while relaxing from the busy day.
We had an amazing time at the house and in Sayulita! The home was in the perfect location, away from the business of the town but an easy walk to downtown. Thanks so much for allowing us this experience, it was truly amazing!

Herasmo and I live in the Sayulita for the past 15 years. We came back to Mexico to raise our children after been in the states for many years. Sayulita was the perfect place to be and we expect to grow old on this community.
We started managing Casa Luciernaga on early 2018.
What makes this property unique
The house is located on a seclude are of town, you will enjoy the most amazing views of the cost line and the jungle. This is the perfect house for bird watching, 360 degrees view of the jungle, town coastline. The pool is at the back of the property surrounded by a beautiful lush garden, the most private spot of the house.
