About this property

Kona Magic Sands Condo

Studio located directly across the street from Magic Sands beach with renovated kitchen and bathroom. The bedroom is separated from the living/dining area by a wall with an arched opening. You will notice the small touches honoring the sea turtle throughout the unit which is why we call it Hale Honu or House of the Turtle. (THIS IS A NON-SMOKING UNIT IN A NON-SMOKING PROPERTY. FINE IS $150 PER OCCURENCE)

Your parking spot is conveniently a few steps from the front door. The complex is a small quaint 10 unit complex and is located directly across the street from Magic Sands Beach (Also known as Disappearing Sands Beach). This is a great swimming beach when it is calm. When there are waves it is only good for experienced swimmers. Early morning is best time to swim and see turtles at this beach. The complex also has a washer/dryer which accept smart phone payment through a convenient app with instructions in laundry area. Washer and Dryer are $2 per load.

The kitchen was recently remodeled and has brand new custom made Khaya (African Mahogany) cabinets. The bathroom was also remodeled with a nice size walk in shower with a shower head or body sprays.

There is periods between usually November and March in which the beach may have less sand than normal due to large swells that take the sand from the beach. Once the ocean clams down the sand gets redeposited on the beach over the course of a week or so. There is no way to predict what the status of the beach sand will be. When swimming at this beach or any beach in Hawaii you should listen to the lifeguards. When there is little or no sand the beach is much more dangerous.

There is a large front lawn off the lanai and you can watch the sunset from the lanai. You can see the water from the Lanai but cannot see the beach as we have Hibiscus hedges to provide privacy as the beach can get busy and the hedges provide privacy from people walking and driving by.

The unit accommodates a MAXIMUM OF 2 GUESTS ONLY. THERE IS ONE QUEEN BED ONLY AND SOFA IS NOT A SLEEPER. THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING There are two ceiling fans. This is a licensed Short-Term Vacation rental STVR-19-360605.

Everything was exactly as stated. Location across the street from Magic Sands is wonderful.. even with no sand at the time, it is still a great little spot to jump in the ocean. The place has everything we needed for cooking meals, etc. A great assortment of beach/snorkel gear added to the appeal. Could happily stay for months!

A great place for a couple to enjoy the beach! Always entertaining people watching and swimming (conditions dependent) across the street at Magic Sands. Bed was comfortable and kitchen was supplied with all that we needed to cook simple dinners. We are happy without AC, just being warm and using fans to keep comfortable was perfect for us. Short drive up the road to downtown Kailua-Kona. Short drive south to Kahalu’u Beach park for excellent snorkeling. All around good time!

My fiancé and I absolutely loved this place. It was a perfect place for a couple. We have been to the big Island 3 other times and this was our favorite so far. Clean. Quiet. Across the street from magic sands beach. Fully loaded kitchen with anything you need. Lanai had water view, could hear waves, yet hidden with the surrounding garden so was private. Robert was awesome…helpful and accommodating to our flight times. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

This place is a 1 minute walk to the beach, we loved hanging out there whenever we could. The place has everything you need for the beach (towels, boogie board, floaties, chairs, umbrella, cooler). Great Comfortable Active Place

Directly across from Magic sands beach you could hear the waves at night. Very nice. The beach became swimmable for us amatuers when the sand came back Mid March. I swam with the turtles, Locals always swam. Truely great location not just due to the Magic Sands beach but the great snorkeling and surfing at Kahalu'u just a mile south and the Kona Trolley runs from North Kona (Target) down to the Keauhou Shopping center - even to the airport by jumping bus lines. We mostly went without a car. Very walkable area. Just a very fun and comfortable place to be.

Beach Condo worked for us!

Fantastic White Sands Beach Location! We really enjoyed our stay here in Kona, our first time to the big island! With easy access to the beach, this condo has a great kitchen, and almost everything we needed, except beach towels. For Owner's Eyes: There are also a few deferred maintenance items that should be addressed, as well. 1- patio door handle needs tightening 2- bathroom sink draining very slowly 3- fan/light controllers may need new batteries (work intermittently) 4- beach umbrella spine hinge found broken 5- snorkel to mask strap holder found missing on the large mask All of the above did not deminish THE GREAT TIME WE Had!!! Aloha Claudette, Glad you had a good time. Thank you for taking the time to let me know what you noticed. My fault for not letting you know the beach towels are in the tall cabinet in the bathroom. I forgot to mention that with the property info. Sorry about the beach umbrella I did not know it was broken and appreciate you letting me know so we can replace that for the next guest. Sorry about the experience with the mask. Unfortunately, the snorkel gear does take a beating and that stuff was purchased in November 2021 so is a little over a year old and I probbaly need to leave couple extra snorkel holder clips as those are the things that tend to break off a lot. Just what I hoped for!

This was a really great place to stay and I cannot speak highly enough of the experience. Robert was a gracious host and very helpful with fast responses for any questions. The condo itself is lovely and very tasteful. The quality of all the materials, from the linens to cookware to snorkel gear, was better than I expected, but that goes to show the care in which Robert has put into his place. I love this location and would absolutely stay here again. I particularly enjoyed having breakfast on the lanai and listening to the birds singing and surf pounding. For those who may be concerned about no air conditioning, I would suggest that not having AC helps with acclimating to the weather and humidity. We left the fans on the whole time and it was fine. Thank you for the courtesy and use of your beautiful home!

A great spot for some time away

The condo was exactly what I needed to live pretty simply in Kona for a couple weeks. The kitchen had all of the appliances I needed to cook a lot for myself and the airflow from the ocean kept the place nice and cool all day. There was an awesome beach and restaurant right across the street for when I wanted to get out too. The ocean was like a real life sound machine the nights I slept with the doors open which was pretty cool. Robert was extremely responsive and even checked in via text part way through the stay.

We live in San Diego and love going to Kona every chance we get. There is always something new to explore. We only recently began vacation renting our condo as it was previously a long term rental. So we renovated the bathroom and kitchen areas and hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

I love the Ocean so I love the location of our condo and I hope you will enjoy it also. It is nice to be able to just walk across the street and go for a swim, play some volleyball on the beach or just sit in a beach chair and have a drink. Once daylight surrenders to evening there is a great sunset to enjoy along with the sounds of the beach.
