Please Read: Animals and Insects We have an outdoor cat, Mittens. No animals are ever allowed inside the guest house and it is allergen free. But Mittens will come over and say hi outside during your visit. Also, we have three miniature horses in a fenced pasture several hundred feet down the hill from the guest house. If exposure to these animals is not to your liking, please do not book this guest house.
Also, Hawaii is a tropical climate, and this guest house is at ground level in a natural setting surrounded by fields and woods. Animals and insects abound in this ecosystem year-round. At this guest house you will encounter animals and insects. There will be singing birds, mongoose, gecko lizards, and insects around the exterior of the house. You may even find a gecko lizard or insects inside the house during your stay. We as hosts do all we can to minimize geckos and insects in the interior, including maintaining all screens and weather stripping on the doors and using a monthly pest control service. Nevertheless, it is possible that a gecko lizard will dart in an open door. While geckos are harmless, they may be difficult or impossible to catch once in the house. It is also likely that you will find some insects inside the house during your stay. The most common type to get in are millipedes, which are black or red in color and 1" long. They can get through the smallest cracks around the bottom of the sliding screen doors. They do not bite and will not hurt you but are a nuisance on the floor. They are slow moving and easy to sweep up and remove.
Please consider this ecological setting before booking. Because this natural ecosystem is part of the setting for this guest house, and we want to be clear about this before you book, no refunds or cancellations will be given for animals and insects.
Please note: Hawaii State and County transient accommodation taxes and general excise sales taxes are added by VRBO when you book. Taxes are subject to change without notice.
Please note: long-term stay cleaning service. If staying for 3 weeks or longer, an additional cleaning service is required during your stay at a rate of $52 per hour. The cleaning time may be one that is mutually acceptable, and you will need to reimburse the hosts directly for this service by cash or check.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

The house was clean and all we had to do was bring in our luggage. The kitchen was fully equipped and had a beautiful view of Captain Cook monument. The hot tub felt wonder after a day of kayaking or hiking. And Mittens the cat was fun to have around.
Everything about our stay was perfect. It had all of the amenities we needed and more. Waking up every morning to a symphony of birds, the faint sounds of waves crashing and a bedside view of the ocean was truly magical. The shower was amazing and we enjoyed the surplus of beach toys. Mittens was a bonus. What a sweet kitty!
House is amazing. View Is spectacular overlooking Captain Cook monument with amazing sunset. The house was super clean and very organized. Beds and bedding were great. I highly recommend this house.
Amazing property. Cannot describe in words . You have stay there to experience it. Meditative peaceful great ocean views. Tammy and Joe are great hosts . Highly recommend staying here .
The guest house was clean and comfortable and nicely appointed. If you like to cook, the large kitchen has everything you might want. We especially enjoyed the location - both for the views and quiet (away from the hubbub of Kailua-Kona) and for the proximity to Kealakekua Bay.
Pictures didn’t do this property justice! The views were amazing. The house was spotless and the best stocked house I have ever stayed in. It was perfect having the hot tub and grill to relax each night. Mittens, the cat, was so sweet visiting each day.
A fabulous property in a great location. Exceptional hosts. We appreciated all of the recommendations they provided. Enjoyed our stay and highly recommend.
We had a great stay. Beautiful property, beautiful view, gracious hosts, super clean, easy walk down to the bay, every amenity as described. The gardens are gorgeous. We also loved the mini ponies.
This property is quiet, beautiful, wonderful view, wonderful owners, has everything you could think of needing, and brought me great relaxation and wonderful memories!
Beautiful stay..grounds, house exactly as described. Host went above and beyond. Only down side: we are spoiled ..will be hard to find a spot that has it all from now on. Just lovely!
Everything about our stay was wonderful. Our hosts made a great effort to provide all the amenities that would make our stay easy and enjoyable.
We thoroughly enjoyed the secluded location, the birdsong, and the geckos and other wildlife that visited from time to time.
The location was also convenient for trips north to the beach and south to the volcanos.
Should we make it back to the big island, we would happily stay at this same property.
Tammy and Joe have created the perfect Big Island getaway. Everything — interiors and exteriors, furniture — was so inviting, ultra-clean and comfortable. The kitchen (and its contents/equipment) is a dream, as is the barbecue area. We didn’t want to leave, and most certainly will book back soon. Mahalo nui loa!
This was a beautiful property both inside and out. The hosts had thought of everything from chocolate covered macadamia nuts to lovely facial products. The kitchen had everything you could desire, and the sunsets were stunning.
I would definitely stay here again.
Amazing stay, beautiful property, lovely hosts! Cannot beat the nearly 180 degree ocean view! We went on runs down to the nearby beach, said hello to the mini horses, and watched boats down in the bay. Would stay again in a heartbeat! Thank you to Tammy and Joe!
Joe and Tammy are great hosts. The house feels brand new with great sweeping views of the bay. Situated on 17.5 acres private from the main house. Plenty of room to spread out and would be a perfect escape for two couples. Would definitely come back!
Well designed, comfortable home that helps relax and take in the amazing views. There are thoughtful extras throughout adding to the experience. The owners were a pleasure to deal with. We thoroughly enjoyed our days there & hope to stay again in the future.
