Everything was wonderful! We especially loved sitting in the gazebo listening to the rain...the birds...the geckos...and all of the other wildlife sounds. We also enjoyed eating and juicing the citrus fruits! It was absolute paradise!
Richard was welcoming, He was traveling at the time himself but took time out of his travels to communicate with us. Nice off grid place very private great for a couple that want privacy. We plan to return!
It is a wonderful, private oasis 25 minites from the Hilo airport. The check-in process was easy and communication with the owners was spot on. I did not take advantage of the kitchen, but it looked like it had everything that would be needed. I will definitely try to stay here on my next visit.
We are returning customers. My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this cute little place! We very much loved the garden with fruit trees and ornamental plants! Can see the hard work they have put in. The house was spotless, cozy, and had everything we needed. A truly wonderful host who made us feel so welcome. Check-in was a breeze. We would love to stay here again. Highly highly recommend!
Absolutely the best experience for a truly relaxing stay. The grounds were amazing. Filled with flowers and fruit trees and the cottage itself was a delight to come home to after a day of exploring the Keaau and the city of Hilo. Well appointed with everything needed for a three night stay. Loved taking a shower outdoors! Would definitely recommend.
Wow! We absolutely loved our stay here. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. The cottage is very well stocked with all you need to cook if you wish including extras of day to day supplies. It is very peaceful and comfy with multiple areas to kick back and relax. The orchard is so fun to explore and all the sounds of nature were fun to listen to day and night. The geckos are super cute. Dick is a great owner who is communicative and friendly! Will definitely be returning!!!
This place is certainly unique. The cottage is surrounded by plants in a huge lot. I oh can hear the birds sing throughout the day and evening. We enjoyed the hot shower. Initially we could not find coffee, after asking for it, the landlord came early next morning and brought us coffee. We really appreciate how much thoughts the landlord put into designing and maintaining this lovely oasis. We highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a unique experience!
This was the best place I have ever stayed. The pristine beauty paired with the accommodations in an ideal locale made for an absolutely perfect and memorable stay in every way
We only stayed there a brief time, but its a cute place with lots of lovely fruit trees. The outdoor kitchen was nice and stocked. Lots of cute little lizzards outside. Even though the place doesn't have air conditioning it was comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the outside shower was amazing.
Owner and her friend Ellie were very helpful to me as I spent a week on the Big Island with my son for his wedding. The property was amazing with all the fruit trees and peaceful space.
This was our first trip to The Big Island and we stayed the first part of the week in Hilo. This cottage was absolutely amazing and was better than expected! The sounds at night were soothing, we had lizard visitors, the rain was just lovely! We couldn’t have asked for a better atmosphere!
Merlyn was most welcoming! We were staying here for the month of February 2026 and with our interactions back-and-forth we just couldn’t help but love her!! We loved our vacation rental, with highlights being the outdoor shower, an extremely comfortable bed, all the beautiful fruit we could eat on the property and having outdoor living room with two comfortable chairs with stools, and of course, my favorite -the hammock. She was a wealth of information as well. We stayed mostly in our indoor/ outdoor Hilo sweet vacation rental, and did had spent four nights in Kona. There is nothing better than laying in that comfortable bed and listening to the rain fall on the steel roof, it was so relaxing and comforting.Merlyn, if you ever decide to leave, let us know would be happy to stay at your house!! you’re always welcome to visit ours as well in Michigan. Hugs to you! This is off grid in Hawaii Paradise Park and we also met many lovely people. I can say more, but it was all good.!!
We LOVED our 2 night stay here. It was so relaxing and exactly what was described. It was a bit of nature, fruit trees and peace. We had excellent communication with the hosts. The outdoor shower was pretty cool. We really can’t say enough good about it. Will 100% stay here again when returning to Hilo side of the island.

Beautiful property with lots of fruit trees, natural scenery, sounds of peace and quiet. Hostess is amazing and would strongly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet getaway. Loved the outdoor kitchen and outdoor shower. If you’re near Hilo - stay here!
It was beyond our expectations. Everything you might need was conveniently located in our “place”. Communication was easy. It was very clean. The bed was super comfortable. It was designed perfectly. We loved getting to visit with the sweet geckos every morning. The fruit orchard was fun to walk through and see the variety of fruits grown there. We were very happy with our accommodations. I highly recommend this place!
