Because we are immersed in a vibrant ecosystem, you will experience the authentic sounds of the island. You will likely hear free-roaming roosters, tropical birds, and frogs at night. The house is set far back from the road behind a natural vegetation buffer, ensuring excellent privacy and a wonderful "treehouse" feel.

House Rules & Disclosures:
* Maximum Stay: 7 nights.

*BBQ Policy: You must use the provided cast iron skillet on the gas propane BBQ. A $150.00 cleaning fee will be charged if food is cooked directly on the grill grates without the skillet.

* Hawaii Wildlife & Gecko Disclosure: Embracing the Tropics—Our treehouse is located in a lush, natural environment near Hilo & Volcano. You will likely encounter local geckos during your stay. In Hawaii, geckos are a celebrated and welcome part of the local ecosystem. Geckos are beneficial to Hawaii homes primarily because they act as natural, free pest control by eating common household bugs like cockroaches, ants, spiders, and mosquitoes. They are completely safe, clean, and viewed as harmless roommates and cultural symbols of good luck and protection!

* Resident Cats & Property Wildlife:
* Resident Cats (Nala & Torte): We maintain a managed feeding station on-site for my two friendly, fully socialized resident cats as well as a small feral colony which most likely you will not encounter.
* Cat House Rules: Nala & Torte are strictly outdoor cats. Please keep doors securely closed to prevent them from slipping inside. You may see them roaming the property—they love hanging out and sleeping on the deck! Please be kind to them, but do not feed them or allow them inside the rental house at any time.
* Treats & Feeding: The cats are on a strict, healthy diet. Please do not feed them human food or table scraps. If you would like to give them approved treats, just reach out.
* Important Safety: Please do not lock the cats inside the rental or any downstairs enclosed areas when you close up.
* Local Wildlife: You may also see wild chickens and roosters roaming the property. For everyone's safety, please do not feed or disturb any of the local animals.
* Property Security: For guest safety and property protection, exterior security cameras are active on the grounds only. They are located at the property entrance/driveway, the front door/steps, the cat station (staff only), and the back propane shed (staff only). There are no cameras inside the home.

* Registration: STVR-19-365359 / NUCR-20-1838

This is a beautiful home on an even more beautiful property. Private and quiet. The king size bed in the loft was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. Two black sand beaches within 10 to 20 minute drive and well located for various sites at this end of the island. We would definitely stay here again.

Mom and Son trip

We spent 2 nights here after our 6 night stay in Kona. The property is beautiful and we enjoyed going to Paradise Cliffs. We wished we had booked 3 nights.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the tree house. The property was delightful, and had what we needed. It felt exactly like a home cabin up north, but also completely Hawai’i.The grounds are beautiful, the ambience is relaxing, and the frogs produce a wonderful song all night. Combined with the sound of the ocean, the setting is quite serene. While no property is perfect, I would like to see the lighting improved, such as night lights, but one can’t have everything. Mahalo nui loa!

Thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback however, I do have to let you know that we have night lights in every single bedroom including the bathroom. All you had to do is reach out and ask. Sometimes previous renters unplug them or they turn the switch down because they don’t like the light but we do have a nightlight in every room again thank you for the feedback. Take care.

The most beautiful place to stay on the whole East coast! And not a bad price either.Was our family's favorite spot out of all the various VRBOs and resorts that we stayed at on the big island. The others may have been luxurious, spotless, and spacious, but the tree house gave amazing big island vibes that were unmatched anywhere else. You won't be showering outdoors in the open jungle at any of the resorts, that's just one of the many perks of staying here.Kaleo's restaurant just up the road was excellent as well, live music and classic Hawaiian eats, easy to get to from the house.Friendly chickens and cats to welcome you and wake you in the morning. The only slightly negative thing I can think of is a lack of house-wide icy cold air conditioning (only individual room units), but that is just part of the island jungle experience in my opinion. Just open all the windows at night and listen to the frogs for a good night sleep. Highly recommended!! Five stars!!

Aloha, thank you so much for your beautiful review. You guys were wonderful guests as well and we are truly grateful. Thank you for being nice to our kitties. We love cat people also I just wanted to address the AC situation so we don’t just have individual units in the bedrooms. We have two individual portable units, one in the loft and one in the queen bedroom the full bedroom does not have an AC unit the main entrance and kitchen den area. We have a 24,000 BTU Mini Split I’m not sure if you just missed it. I was wondering why you didn’t use any AC during your stay as we have smart devices to help conserve energy. Anyhow, I wish you would’ve reached out and I would’ve let you know. Happy Easter weekend and thank you again. We hope you’ll visit us sometime again in the future Mahalo Nui Loa.

Check-in and check-out were perfect. The beds and furniture were super comfortable. It was truly a tropical oasis to enjoy our time between visiting the volcano and the falls in Hilo. The cats made the stay even sweeter as they perched themselves on the lanai. Christina was a very attentive host and gave us lots of good ideas. We enjoyed walking to the cliffs at both sunrise and dusk for our zen with the waves crashing on the cliffs. It was such a nice change from the more touristy side of Kona. Christina has placed wonderful tools to keep the place cool with portable air conditioners and fans. We did find these tools struggling to keep it cool enough for us crazy mainlanders, but overall, we loved our stay and would highly recommend this beautiful place to others.

Beautiful grounds and so much detail and care was put into the interior. Most comfortable beds. AC in each room. TV with each bed (though you will enjoy the grounds and area more than TV!). Gorgeous wood everywhere. Can't say enough about beauty of this home. Host was so helpful and responsive. Kitties are charming, our kids just loved them. Host reiterated not to feed them anything, even their own food as they know how to use their feeders even though Torte pretends not to! Minutes walk from Paradise cliffs where we saw whales! The lanai is absolutely stunning with 2 seating areas for tranquil breakfasts and evenings. Couch is so comfy and large enough for the 4 of us with streaming available for evening movie nights. laundry was helpful, no dishwasher which wasn't an issue for us. Would absolutely stay here again and recommend. A tropical oasis!

The home was clean and beds were comfortable. The house was warm and air conditioning shuts off every couple of hours all night long. Which makes for a lot of waking up through the night. The house was also an arm after leaving for the day. Cats are super cute but sleep all on the furniture on the lanai. If you don’t mind won’t be an issue. I am allergic to cats so made the in almost unusable. Getting drinking water was an issue and barely any left in the fridge upon arrival. Otherwise is in a great walkable neighborhood and really close to the ocean cliffs.

Aloha thank you for the review. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the right match for me or the guest. They received a huge discount and I didn’t ever charge for AC. I wish they would’ve communicated that they didn’t plan on leaving the house and wanted to sit in the house with AC running 24 seven. Electricity is highest in the nation next to San Diego.They didn’t follow the house rules and policies. Its high summer so we are asked by the electric company to help conserve energy and they never did that. In fact they were only one couple and they had the AC running in every single bedroom ran it all through the night even when they were gone for the day, When it’s 67-68* at night the AC is going to turn off. Just have to remember you are on an island. This is not a big city. In addition, they were not nice to my kitties & They certainly were not nice to me. I could tell from the tone in her voice that she was not happy the minute that they arrived so this is my first not so great review; however, the feeling was mutual. We strive really hard to make our guests happy and sometimes people just come from big cities and they have high demands. The take away from this is for any future guest looking to book my property please make sure that you read the house rules and policies before booking. We do ask that you conserve energy as this is a tropical island and we don’t want to have a power outage during high summer. Open up the windows get some fresh air late at night when it’s already cool outside if you don’t like security cameras, then this is not for you please keep in mind that most hotels and restaurants all have security cameras. We run the same exact way. If you’re not an active person and don’t wanna do anything except stay in the house and run-the AC all day long then I recommend renting a hotel. If you don’t like cats or roosters or birds or nature, then I recommend staying at a fancy resort on the Kona side. Thank you for your business and review Mahalo.

We stayed two nights and wish it had been more. I can't remember a time when I was able to relax so completely. The house was clean and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The grounds were park like and beautifully tended. We will be back!
