Great place to stay for your time in the bay area. Short drive to the east bay and SF are a nice feature of the location. Beautiful neighborhood in the hills. Warren was very accommodating and prompt to answer any questions we had. Excellent host, excellent property. You get to enjoy the incredible view of the SF, the port of Oakland, the bay bridge, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, etc. 5/5 stars, would definitely stay again.
This is a wonderful location to access Oakland, Marin, and San Francisco. The neighborhood is wonderful with many views from the property and walking through the neighborhood. Warren is so easy to reach and is very responsive to any questions you might have. The cute little town of Rockridge is only a 20 minute walk away, and of course very accessible by car. So many great independent stores and wonderful restaurant scene.
The host was a great host. The apartment is a great apartment and in a nice location close to restaurants, grocery stores, and highways, and most important my brothers house that I was cleaning out. The only thing was the 28 steps to go up and down from the apartment to the street, they gave me a workout, but that was okay. Thanks for making my stay a pleasure. Evan
Great location, property & host but some drawbacks
This VRBO has great potential but missed the mark for us in a few ways, which ultimately prevented us from being able to give more than 3 stars:
1. Ant infestation in the kitchen area which was spotted on day 1 without any food being present (ants were also later spotted in the bedrooms)
2. Only 1 hand towel and 1 wash cloth was provided for a 5 day stay for 4 people;
3. No washer or dryer in unit (a massive drawback for any longer term stay such as ours)
Host was great and had no issues whatsoever with communication.

Sorry to hear you didn’t fully enjoyed your stay, especially about the “no washer and dryer” as its clearly stated on VROB’s website this item was not included. Housekeeping sometimes forget to replace essential items such as towels, that’s a reason I personally emailed you after your first night here to make sure everything is in order and unfortunately you didn’t reply or addressed the towel or other issues including washer and dryer even after we communicated so many times. Thanks for being so kind while you were here, you are definitely a two 👍👍 thumbs up guest.
We really liked this place, though it wouldn't be for everyone. For us, the plusses greatly outweighed the negatives. Those relatively minor negatives would be the 30 steps down from the street; no dishwasher; no A/C (usually not needed). The plusses: fabulous views; great neighborhood for walking and very convenient for getting around; excellent outdoor space; very responsive, accommodating host.
Property is conveniently located off the major Highway and has a wonderful view off of the Bay Area.
We were very comfortable and loved everything about it.
Came here to visit family. This location is great. We are very comfortable here. Nice quiet and safe neighborhood. The place is clean and secluded. We have stayed here several times.
This is a great garden suite in the hills of Rockridge! The unit is spacious and comfortable, and well-appointed for the stay. The outdoor space is lovely, and as many other reviews indicate, the view is incredible. The only possible area of improvement that I can think of is the fact that we did see a few ants, but we were careful to seal up and not leave out any food, so it wasn't really an issue. Warren was a communicative and helpful host, so if you're in the area, this a great place to stay!
We had an excellent stay and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The location was beautiful and the rooms were clean and bright. We will definitely stay again in the future.
Thank you for your hospitality!
Convenient location for our east bay excursions. Lovely outdoor garden space and glimpse views of SF and the Bay. Owner was very nice and easy to connect with.
Warren's property is just fantastic. The view is truly incredible, and the size/space of the unit is more than worth the cost. For our 18 month old son, there was plenty of space for him to run around, plenty of things for him to see in the garden, that even when it rained we didn't feel cramped. The main bedroom even has two small laundry/linen walk-in closets, one of which we used for my son's travel crib. Couldn't have asked for a better stay. Looking forward to our next visit!
5 star review for 5 star place. A friend and I rented "Million Dollar View" for a long weekend to attend a wedding. The house was exactly what we had hoped for! Ideal location (all wedding activities occurred within a 5 mile radius), very clean and spacious quarters (every room was large!), stunning views (accurately called million dollar view), and a luxurious patio to enjoy the perfect weather. We had excellent and timely communications with Warren. Thank you for helping make the wedding weekend such a success!
Stayed for a week. The views are exactly as promised & the garden lovely - made what was a spacious 2 bedroom suite feel even larger. The host went out of his way to touch base, answer requests and offered suggestions about things to see and do. Would definitely choose to stay there again.
This was the perfect property for my family of 3. We couldn’t have been happier. It was very clean and had stunning views and a beautiful patio. Everything was even better than pictured! The neighborhood was also nice and walkable. Warren was an amazing host! Highly recommend.
We had an excellent stay in this wonderful "garden suite". The pictures and description are right on, and as others have said, Warren is an outstanding host. The 2 bedrooms were perfect for our family of 4, and the location can't be beat. Beautiful neighborhood, spectacular views, and close to everything (we went to SF, Oakland, Berkeley, Orinda, Walnut Creek - all easy). The only minor things to note were a slight smell of stale cigarette smoke (opening windows solved the problem most days), and it would have been ideal to have a washer/dryer and a dishwasher in the unit, but we knew about the appliances going in, so no surprises there. Overall, we would definitely stay here again.
We really enjoyed our stay. Beds were comfortable.

I have live here in the Greater Bay Area for over 60 years and traveled the world and I have yet able to find a better place other then here I call "home sweet home" a little history about this home. . On October 20, 1991 the worst urban wildfire in Bay Area history struck the Oakland/Berkeley Hills. . 3200 home was burned to the ground and this home was one of them. 1994 I have the opportunity to buy the from the previous owner who just didn't have the heart or energy to rebuild his burned home, I chose to buy the lot because of the awesome view of the Bay, you can see the Golden Gate Bridge, Oakland/San Francisco and San Rafael Bridges and not to mention the year around beautiful weather . . Since I was a home builder for many years, I and my engineer friend designed and rebuild this home and I have live in this "home sweet home" since 1996, the lower level suite was occupied by my children are now married. Recently I have remodeled the suite and added a kitchen, sound proof the suite and now ready to welcome you. . .
Why they chose this property
I know a thing or two about real estate and hotel rental market since I am a local guy for 60+ years in this area. This 2 bedroom suite offer you a home setting with absolute privacy and most of hotel amenities for 1/3 of the price when compares to San Francisco hotel or inns. This suite is located to major transportation hub. A mile walk or Uber to Rockridge BART train station which will connect you to downtown SF and to SFO airport . . You can also Ferry Boat ride to San Francisco, world famous Alcatraz Island, Angel Island, Sausalito.
What makes this property unique
Nearby is Trader Joes. Whole Foods, Berkeley Bowl, UC Berkeley, many fun restaurant such as Zachary's Chicago Pizza, Cactus Taqueria, Crepervine, tons of other great places to eat and drink. U.C. Berkeley Campus, miles and miles of hiking trails at Tilden Park. And only an hour drive to Napa wine tasting, less then an hour drive to SF Premium Outlets in Livermore. .
