Live in this beautiful North Shore classic while enjoying the Holidays with family and friends. Get away to the winter wonderland or bask in the cool breezes of summertime fun at the big lake! This incomparable shoreline has walkable ledgerock overlooks and a rocky (with agates) beach grotto. There is even a unique series of stones for wading out into the lake on hot summer days.
The home is fully remodeled with all the modern amenities and a centralized north shore location (e.g. easy access to Duluth, Spirit Mountain, Two Harbors, snowmobile trails, Lutsen and Grand Marais).
Beds for 7 guests. The couch may accommodate an 8th. There is a full sized mattress and accoutrement in our “Pilot Knob” for an eighth (young adult or an adventurous couple of “kids”). Another spot for a 9th and 10th or so, could hold an air bed or a few sleeping bags (none of which are provided) on the floor. If you want to cram ‘em in, ya can.
If you need more housing for your group, we have a really nice, new log home. It’s just up the hill, a mile or so away, and comfortably sleeps 6. https://www.vrbo.com/1549060?unitId=2108814

NOTE: Lake County requires that we rent this home for 30 days or more at a time. If you were hoping to rent for shorter period of time, get in touch with us as we may be able to coordinate some pricing arrangement that makes 30 days make sense to your party. In general, we have to set terms here on VRBO but they are all negotiable. We are receiving requests for 30+ day rentals of this home. If you are considering some time here in 2021, be sure to move on it quickly. At 30+ days per rental, there are very limited rental availabilities.

The house was just as described online. We did have one small issue that was quickly taken care of by our host Chad. It was a wonderful place to spend the summer and get out of the heat & humidity of the South. The views were spectacular and I especially enjoyed watching the bald eagles fishing. We even had a juvenile bald eagle which made the highest peak of the house his evening perch. It was convenient to all that the North Shore area has to offer and we enjoyed our daily hikes. Several family members joined us while we were there and they all enjoyed the peaceful beauty. I can't recommend this property enough. Thank you Chad for taking such good care of us and letting us enjoy your beautiful home.
We will forever remember this house as saving the COVID summer of 2020 for our family. After our kids’ overnight camps were cancelled we booked five weeks up at the north shore with our three kids (age 7, 10 and 12) as well as our nanny for parts of the week.
We were able to take advantage of all that the north shore offers from beaches to hikes to bike rides to famous pies and treats at the local candy store and smoke fish. Close enough to Duluth for trips into town but also close to the natural gems of the north shore like Goosberry Falls, Split Rock Lighthouse and sugarloaf cove.
The house is big enough for our family to be comfortable but still be together. Both adults had to work many of the days and the fiber optic WiFi was great (and working from the tower looking over Lake Superior is amazing too). Kitchen was large and has everything we needed and we used the outdoor grill often.
Our own personal lake/beach access was amazing. Despite the water being cold our kids swam and played in the rocks nearly every day. Hot tub was a nice warm up after the chilly lake. We also had a number of bonfires (though bug spray is recommended).
The property owners were very respectful when any work was needed or they were coming for maintenance. We could always reach them quickly via VRBO app if we needed anything (which was not often).
The five weeks flew by but will remain in our family’s memory for much longer.

It was wonderful having you all here. Hearing the kids laughing while playing in the water was absolutely rejuvenating. You were just our second guests and we will take any and all suggestions to heart. Our hope is to keep making our lake place better and better for folks such as yourselves hoping to make North Shore memories here. Thanks for being part of saving this great old property. Sincerely, Chad and the rest of the crew.
What an amazing place. We were so lucky and blessed to get to spend a month here. Watching the ever-changing lake from the "tower" room, cooking in the big kitchen, rock picking on our own private beach, dipping our feet in the cold water on the hot days, checking in on the growing minnows, relaxing on the big lawn, watching the ongoing battles between the bald eagles and the seagulls (as well as a few movies on the nice big tv), walking to the candy shop, knife river, and big beach...we even saw multiple rainbows -- could there be any better sign that this is a magical place?
The property is well-placed to get to Duluth, Two Harbors, and all of the north shore parks and trails. Wi-fi is excellent and we had no issues with it. The neighborhood is quiet and the property is private, there are partial views of neighboring homes, but only through trees at a distance. The yard is big enough for a good game of hide and seek or capture the flag.
The ground-floor bedroom is great for people who may have difficulty with stairs, and the master bedroom suite is delightful. The tower room up a set of spiral stairs is a great place to work (if you must) or pretend to be a lighthouse keeper, and a little nook next to it can be a fun nest/fort for kids.
Chad was super responsive and communicative, checking in before they'd come to work on the lawn, bringing things we needed, etc.
Notes for future guests: one in our party needed earplugs because the seagulls can get loud in the early morning hours; the lake is cold, but hopefully you know that if you're coming here!

Thanks Cathy. It was our pleasure to host you folks. As you know, you were our first guests. With folks like you staying here and sharing your insights, we hope to keep improving. Stay safe out there. Chad.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this semi-private location on the shore of Lake Superior, with easy access to Duluth and Two Harbors. Our host, Chad, was responsive to our every need! The home provides every comfort and convenience. Spacious enough for family gatherings with separate areas for retreat and solitude. This would be my first choice for a return to the twin ports ;-)
This house exceeded our expectations. Amazing location and view of the lake in a quiet neighborhood. We had a few friends and family visit during our stay, and had plenty of room for everyone. The internet was excellent for those days work was necessary. Loved we could bring our dogs. The owners care very much for this property and were a pleasure in our interactions. Highly recommend!
We returned for the second summer in a row, and again the property did not disappoint. The lake was the center of most of our activities, but we also hiked and rode bikes and played games. Beds were comfy, kitchen had everything we needed, and when we needed to work or watch movies the wifi was up to the job :)
