It retains its historic charm while providing modern conveniences to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. The house is filled with sunlight during the day, and the original hardwood floors, painted woodwork, exposed brick and lighting create a warm and cozy retreat at night. The large kitchen and the dining room provide great spaces for cooking & dining, playing board games or simply spending quality time together. The living area and front porch overlook the Cuyahoga River and Towpath Trail providing a great place to relax while enjoying a morning cup of coffee or an evening a glass of wine. The kitchen has been remodeled as of January/February 2025 and includes induction cooktop, built-in convection oven/microwave and many other conveniences. Photos will be posted in late February as renovations are completed.

6010 Canal Street is situated in the middle of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and a perfect base for your getaway. It has direct access to the Towpath Trail, Buckeye Trail and Cuyahoga River. Hall (Civil War museum and concert hall), Peninsula Art Academy or Peninsula Public Library (for books and dvds).

Within a 10-mile radius, you have access to over 125 miles of hiking trails, the Towpath Trail, two downhill ski areas, numerous sledding and cross country skiing areas, mountain bike trails, bike paths, kayaking & fishing, the CVSR historic railroad, CVNP visitor center, historic Hale Farm & Village, Blossom Outdoor Music Center, Porthouse and Weathervane Theaters, numerous waterfalls, a historic covered bridge, farmers' markets, wineries, micro-breweries, great casual and fine dining restaurants, public golf courses, trampoline park, and many more attractions.

Akron (15 miles) and Cleveland (25 miles) are within easy access from both scenic and highway routes giving you easy access to the area’s sporting venues, museums, cultural and arts districts, zoos, Summit and Cuyahoga Counties Metro Park systems, many excellent dining opportunities and shopping districts, and so much more! Both Cleveland-Hopkins and Canton-Akron Airports are within a 30-minute drive.

The essentials are provided to make your stay comfortable, and convenient including down comforters, cooking and dining essentials, board games and puzzles, laundry facilities and appliances, linens, gas grill, trail and park maps/information, sleds, etc. We are happy to offer suggestions and help you plan your activities during your stay. Great house/great locationThis was our second stay in this house over the years. We came to the area to ride the bike trails so it is the perfect fit. Literally right on the Erie Canal towpath. Check in process is seamless and communication with the owner is great. The house was spotlessly clean and has every thing you could need.Highly recommend

Great location!

We came to the area to explore the national park on our bikes. This house is very conveniently located adjacent to the trail. We biked onto the trail everyday right from the house. We could ride for miles north and south of Peninsula. The town itself is quaint and has some shops, restaurants and the train depot. We made our meals in the kitchen or on the grill and the house was very comfortable.

Absolutely wonderful! It was very convenient and we could walk to a lot of places. The porch was quiet and serene. The host was very thoughtful! He even left us a bottle of wine. I really enjoyed the coffee shop across the street. The perfect place for our girls hiking getaway!!

Great location

So nice to walk to the train, have the tow path right out front for biking, and have a few restaurants in walking distance. The home is just as described. We enjoyed several trails at Cuyahoga NP and one rainy afternoon at the Rock & Roll Hall of fame, a 40 minute drive north which ended up being a highlight of our getaway.

Lovely Town and Location

We came to Peninsula to visit with family and to enjoy hiking trails and all this area has to offer. Paul was very accommodating and hospitable. He gave us many recommendations for restaurants in the area and he left some wine and fruit for us in the kitchen. His home is lovely and well equipped with all the essentials. We would love to visit again!

Ideal Location

Central to Cleveland and Canton for Hall of Fames. Plenty of golf courses within 30 minutes or less. Suited our needs. The wine and fruit basket were very thoughtful and appreciated. Used 2nd floor bedroom because the water system in basement was a little noisy for sleeping.

Return to Home Memories.

My Grandfather's farm was in heart of the National Park. My daughters and I enjoyed visiting Oak Hill the site of his farm. The hike around the pond brought back memories of gathering hickory nuts and picking blackberries on the farm. The entire area that was home to me so many years ago. Lunch in downtown Peninsula hiking the trails. Our stay was comfortable friendly and full or memories.

Excellent location!

We found the house to be clean and roomy and very comfortable! When we weren't out and about, we spent time on the secluded front porch, playing cards in the kitchen, and morning coffee in the living room! Within walking distance from this house is a train depot, bike rental, 2 restaurants, and the tow path with canal locks. The host generously had a basket of fruit and wine awaiting our arrival and many suggestions for fun activities!!!

Great location for visiting CVNP

Our family of 4 enjoyed spending a few days exploring CVNP. The house was conveniently located right off the Towpath and within walking distance of the 2 restaurants in town. We enjoyed biking the Towpath, kayaking and hiking during our days. And spent the evenings in the cozy living room catching up on family movie nights. Paul was very helpful providing info on the trails and local area in advance so we could plan our trip. There was even a basket of fresh fruit when we arrived!
