Fabulous location for skiing. Very helpful host.
A party of 17 adults and teenagers spent a fab half term at the chalet. We used both the apartments and it worked perfectly. Everything was provided that you could wish for including a Nespresso coffee maker with the small capsules (take your own capsules), the only thing we took which I’d recommend and we used were toilet roll and bin bags. The sauna was a welcome treat. We didn’t use the steam room. Odile the host was very patient with all my questions since booking and very helpful during our stay, access is via a key box. recycling rubbish bins are located close to the chalet. If you are staying for the skiing you can hire lockers and equipment from Reves D’Hivers which is located right at the bottom of the main ski lift Floria. They are very helpful and speak good English. There are other shops of course but we reserved online before going to ensure the amount of lockers we needed. Buses are frequent and they stop very close to the chalet but as we had lockers and the walk was no problem we did not use them. The chalet is located on the hillside with fantastic views of the slopes and it is a short walk down a slight hill to the lift/stairs to the slopes. Very doable even for smaller children.
Only one of the bedrooms has an on-suite bathroom (bath and shower and toilet) but there are plenty of showers and toilets for everyone and there is plenty of hot water. The double beds are all king size and very comfortable. With regards to skiing there are plenty of nice slopes for all abilities in Chinaillon, although we had a ski pass for the whole area the snow was not very good outside of Chinaillon (it wasn’t very good in a lot of resorts this year 2020 apparently) being higher Chinaillon served us very well indeed. As with any ski resort the restaurants are expensive, €20 for burger and chips. a small round of drinks €50. The supermarket is also expensive so if you can take food I would advise doing so. Our only problem was with ski passes and this particular year if you ordered them on line and had them delivered to the UK they didn’t work when you arrived. This happened with all of us and some other friends, we ordered independently of each other so it wasn’t just one order that was wrong. The queue for the passes wasn’t long so we could have easily bought passes at the resort. I’d thoroughly recommend booking this home with Odile and we’d definitely book again if the opportunity presented itself. Thank you Odile for sharing your home.
