About the host
Hosted by Jeff
We are a Florida family who loves these mountains & has regularly played in this area of WNC since the late 80’s, through raising our family. We still vacation here with our adult children, now adding new grandchildren! Thrilling to share it with our next generation! Our love for this area motivated us to own a property and to make it a comfortable home and relaxing getaway- we so enjoy sharing all we love with our guests! Our skill sets bring you: a beautiful, personally maintained, tastefully decorated, tranquil/relaxing, organized & well stocked “feels like home” place while enjoying a carefree vacation! Just bring your clothes, food for the frig and your personal toiletries… and a mindset to play and relax!
Why they chose this property
We have enjoyed vacations in this area of the NC mountains beginning with our honeymoon in the 80's, continuing over 38 years, as we raised our children and often gathered with extended family, also vacationing here. Some family & friends reside in nearby towns . We are active, with a love of the outdoors. This area offers a great climate, scenery and wide range of activities to suit us well. As Florida residents, we spend a lot of time at the beach, or enjoying freshwater rivers, but love the season changes here- esp summertime in the cool, green, shade and cool, crisp colorful fall days our own place in the mountains. We desired the Cashiers area because of the altitude and close proximity to Highlands, but especially due to the creek frontage and access to Lake Glenville. The many waterfalls and nearby hikes, such as Whiteside Mountain, Panthertown, Gorges State Park and Whitewater Falls were places we repeatedly return to. The home is cozy enough for two, or expansive enough for a family or several couples, (even with a few kids) to get away from it all and embrace time together amidst a beautiful and fun filled backdrop. There is something to do in every season, and the climate allows.
What makes this property unique
The house is located on Cedar Creek only a couple hundred yards from State Road 107 and Lake Glenville where we have private gated access to a Cedar Point Park with a pavilion, restrooms and parking. Boating recreation is a huge draw for this location and of all kinds are welcome here, from fishing to pontoons, to kayak and canoeing. Motorboats pull tubers and paddleboarders are welcome. There is a marina which rents vessels, if that is a desire. But even a simple walk to sit and enjoy the water from the shore is a wonderful treat. As is a stroll down to the creek to throw a line in and see if you can net a bass or brook trout! Our view is to the west, so sunset picnics and views are sweet, or sunset swims, from our community area gazebo by the lake. The creek behind the house is also fun to visit and splash in with the kids. The house is private enough to enjoy the mountains and feel "away from it all", yet is not so remote that you can't meet your immediate needs. Cashiers is a 10-15 min drive with all you need- gas station, restaurants and a full grocery with pharmacy, Ingles. There is a small local brewery and coffee shop, extensive hardware store, gift boutiques etc, as well. It is a charming area which caters to visitors in this area. Highlands is a 30 min uphill drive and has many options for services and entertainment as well. Sapphire Valley is beyond Cashiers and all of these areas are renowned for golf resorts if that is an appeal.
