Slow down, settle in, and enjoy Cedar Key the way it was meant to be enjoyed. Hook, Wine & Sinker Cottage is a cozy island hideaway tucked into a quiet residential circle, surrounded by live oaks, palms, birdsong, and water views. Perched on a shell mound with access to the water, this is the kind of place where mornings start with Cedar Key Coffee on the deck, afternoons are spent kayaking through the islands, and evenings end with a glass of wine while the sky turns pink over the Gulf.
The wraparound deck is one of the stars of the home, with beautiful views of the water, gorgeous sunsets, and a front-row seat to Cedar Key’s wildlife. Keep an eye out for osprey, egrets, pelicans, cardinals, chickadees, and the many other birds that make this quiet corner of the island feel so special.
Inside, the cottage is full of character. Warm wood walls, local artwork, coastal details, and comfortable furnishings give the home an easy, lived-in island feel. The living room has new smart TVs, a Bose stereo system, cushy recliners for afternoon naps, games for laid-back nights in, and a queen sleeper sofa that converts the space into a comfortable second sleeping area. Privacy partitions and darkening shades help make the living room feel more like a true second bedroom when needed.
The upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and a cozy cottage feel, making the home a great fit for a couple, small family, or up to four guests. With two bathrooms, a full-size washer and dryer, and plenty of thoughtful extras, the cottage is set up for both short getaways and longer stays. Please note the bedroom upstairs accessed is via a spiral staircase.
The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook at home, including cookware, dishes, spices, and the little things that make vacation meals easier. Make breakfast before heading out on the water, pack a picnic for the islands, or cook up your fresh catch after a day of fishing.
The office area includes a color printer, making it easy to work remotely, print a boarding pass, or take care of the occasional real-world task before getting back to island time.
Outdoors, the fun is built right in. Kayaks are provided so you can launch from the property and explore the surrounding waters and nearby islands. Bikes are also available for cruising around town, visiting Cemetery Point Park, heading to Dock Street, or pedaling over for lunch, shops, drinks, and live music.
And location matters here. Hook, Wine & Sinker is within walking distance of Low Key Hideaway Tiki Bar, a favorite local stop for cocktails, sunsets, and casual island vibes. Try their famous Bloody Mary, and don’t miss the variety of food trucks while you’re there.
Cedar Key itself is one of Florida’s true Old Florida towns. Long before it became a quiet getaway, the Cedar Keys were used by First Peoples as coastal fish camps, and the surrounding islands are now part of the Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge protects 13 islands and is known for its incredible birdlife, including pelicans, egrets, ibis, cormorants, and roseate spoonbills. Nearby Shell Mound, part of the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge area, adds another layer of local history and is a favorite spot for walking, nature, and quiet exploring.
