Many of our guests stay to do a classic Colorado duo - taking in a concert at the world famous Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater while enjoying the mountains. Just a 15 minute drive away, Red Rocks is a MUST if you love live music. Set in an incredible natural amphitheater cut into red stone cliffs on three sides and a view of the Denver skyline in the distance, many a magical night of music takes place at Red Rocks . Some of the best bands around choose to do Redrocks even though it's a more intimate venue, because the experience is just that special for performers and concert goers alike!
Newly built in 2018, the home is a custom marvel, featuring custom log and stone work and a huge wrap around deck with an outdoor covered lounge area and hot tub. The great room is spacious and surrounded by windows and glass doors to give the effect of being outside while being in. The reclaimed wood dining table can be expanded to seat 10. A grand piano and double sided fireplace add charm and coziness to your stay. Like the living room, the adjoining dining room and kitchen have huge windows offering views of the lake or views of the creek and horse property next door. The vaulted family room upstairs features incredible views, a ping-pong table, Xbox and television and a pull out sectional sofa.
For those who enjoy fishing, our catch and release trout fishing truly is something special. The majority of your fish will be rainbows, with occasional fish as large as 24". There are trophy brown trout in the mix as well. In summer fish readily rise to large dry flies, and fish can always be caught stripping a bead head wooly bugger. If you spin fish we ask that you convert small spoons and spinners to single hook barbless, which we have on hand for you to use. Please do not use bait. The fishing can be incredible, and it's a fantastic place to teach a your children how to fish, as success rates are often high.
If you enjoy watching wildlife, the hot tub, swing chair and rocking chairs are our favorite places to sit in the sun and take in the local fauna. Deer frequent the yard, waterfowl are abundant, song birds and hummingbirds abound, and elk, foxes, coyotes, bear, moose and an eagle are occasionally spotted.
Horseback riding at Bear Mountain Stables is just a short walk from the home, and some of the best white water rafting in Colorado is just 35 minutes away on Clear Creek. We recommend Clear Creek Rafting Company. You can also float tube at the South Platte below Decker's for a leisurely but fun and free outing (we have tubes you can borrow, bring a cooler with some lunch and bevs of choice!).
There are also exceptional hiking opportunities literally at you doorstop in the Beaver Ranch Open Space, or for the more adventurous, you can hike the Continental Divide near Bailey. Beaver Ranch also features disk golf you can walk to as well as zip lining. You can also disk golf at the nationally acclaimed Phantom Falls Disk Golf Course in Pine (reservations only).
The area also offers exceptional stream fly fishing at famous locales including the South Platte in Cheeseman Canyon and at Deckers, the private waters of Boxwood Gulch or Long Meadow Ranch, or a little further down the road, the Dream Stream, 11 Mile Canyon or the Blue River.
Local haunts that are GREAT to visit include the famous Bucksnort, a turn of the century bar and restaurant on the way to Pine, charming historic downtown Evergreen with its board walk and Evergreen Lake, and some good restaurants such Snowpack Taphouse, Brooks Place and Ebony and Vine in Conifer.
If you're a golfer, the Evergreen Golf Course is beautiful, though elk in the fairway are par for the course. Of course, if relaxing is more your style, The Tall Grass Spa in Evergreen is wonderful, and popular waterside restaurants like Willow Creek and Creekside Cellars invite.
Winter and Christmas stays offer ice skating, ice fishing, fly fishing and ice hockey. The home is decked out for Christmas and is as cozy as can be!
If you desire to take in a little city life during your stay, beyond Redrocks, Denver is a short hop away. Broncos Stadium is only 40 minutes away, and Coors Field just a few minutes further. Likewise, Denver's famed walking street, 16th Street Mall, is only about a half an hour drive. The Denver Center for Performing Arts, Denver Art Museum and The Museum of Contemporary Art and the Denver Aquarium are all about a 35 to 40 minute drive. We are near it all yet away from it all at the same time!
You'd be hard pressed to find a property offering what ours does, and we are glad to offer it. We trust you'll love the lake and mountain experience, the beauty of the area and of the home, and the fun-filled activity right at your doorstep!
***Please note: This property is for family and friends to gather in beautiful surroundings. Please be conscientious of our neighbors. Review the rules section for further details. Also, the owner sometimes stays in a guest house that is on the property. We are very mindful of giving guests complete privacy and run of the grounds, though you will occasionally have a car come down the laneway and pass the house to park in the carriage house garage.***
