Why they chose this property
This is the most unique location where you can sit in a chair on the lawn & watch the River go by a few feet away. Very relaxing! Mostly fishing groups enjoy Eagles Roost so they can use their rental boat to fish where they like. A map of the River will be provided for best fish spots. Fish-cleaning station plus BBQ for your fresh caught salmon or trout. Vacuum sealer & fish boxes available. Pretty secluded (at the end of the road). May see bear, moose, Eagles, or the resident porcupine. You are welcome to enjoy the sunroom which has 2 round glass tables & 12 plastic arm chairs. Great view of the Kenai River from all cabins & sunroom. Leave all your stress at home & come and relax at Eagle’s Roost Lodge. Have a great, memorable fishing trip with the guys! Cabins are rustic but everything is provided, sheets, pillows, blankets, towels, washcloths. All are bunk beds. No TV (you don’t come to Alaska to watch TV!:) Soldotna is 25 miles where you can get groceries (watch for wildlife). If you don’t bring fishing gear (most guys do) I have some rods that you can rent. The main cabin has full kitchen, the others have kitchenettes. The 49’er cabin has only 2 sets of bunk beds but will be welcome to use the Lodge kitchen. Your fishing area will be from Bing’s Landing (10 minutes downstream to Skilak Lake, 5 miles upstream). This large area is accessible only by boat or plane, so you have room to spread out, no elbow-to elbow fishing here! Be sure to check the Ak Dept Fish & Game regulations to buy your license & also for limits, closed areas, etc. A booklet will be in every cabin. You can also take a day for halibut fishing out of Seward or Homer. There are charters that begin in the late evening & end the next morning so you can get 2 limits per person for one price. You can also get ling cod, yellow eye & various other rock fish, maybe even an octopus (halibut’s favorite meal - excellent bait!:). Please see for more info or call (907) 953-1003 for info.
What makes this property unique
Location is the best feature, you are just a few feet from the Kenai River. It is very relaxing & peaceful. The next best feature is the rental boats (in their own little harbor) that you can take to any location within Bing’s Landing & Skilak Lake to your own favorite fishing spot. Eagle’s Roost is also excellent for retreats & have held many in my 20 years of ownership. There is a bathhouse that all cabins use; it has 2 toilets, 2 showers, 1 sink in the men’s room & 1 toilet, 1 shower, 1 sink in the ladies room. When no ladies are present, men have access to both rooms. Towels & washcloths are furnished. No toiletries. The boats are 18’ ‘River sleds’ that fish 4 comfortably with a driver. Red (sockeye) fishing is done from shore, rainbows & cohoe (silvers) from the boat. The Kenai River runs at about 7 mph. You must be very cognizant of the overhanging trees & branches on the shore, safety at all times! Life jackets, nets & fish whackers will be in boats. You will have 1 tank of gas per day included in the $200. per shift, either from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or from 3:00 to 10:00 p.m. No drinking/drugs allowed on boats! A safe, fun vacation is foremost! No smoking in cabins & no drugs on the property. There is 3 acres, plenty of room for motor homes & camper’s. You will have access to electric, otherwise it is dry camping. There are free dump/water facilities at Fred Meyer’s store in Soldotna. Please see all rates on webpage or call 907-953-1003 for any questions not covered here. Don’t forget cameras! Dress in layers & bring rain gear, waders & bug dope. Soft-sole wading boots are not allowed on the Kenai - they transport foreign matters not indigenous to our area which we are trying to keep natural & pristine. I have waders for rent, but best to bring your own. My purpose is to hopefully insure that you have a wonderful time with memories that will last a life-time. Please give Eagle’s Roost Lodge a try; no frills, just for serious fishermen!
