About the host
Hosted by Cheryl Massey
My husband Randy Massey & myself were born & raised in
Burlington, N. C. He went to Western High School & I went to Williams High School in Burlington. He graduated IN 1972 & I met him in after I graduated in 1973 while i was attending a Ceramics class at his mothers shop. Randy’s father, Daniel Massey, was in the concrete business & Randy worked in the business. I worked full time & attended Alamance Community College majoring in business. Randy & I were married in May of 1975 & we both eventually worked for Alamance Ready Mix Concrete in the family business. Mr. Massey had been a builder in his past & along with my husband Randy & his brothers, No Coconuts Cabana was built for Randy’s Mom, Peggy Tingen Massey & the family in 1992. Daniel built many EI houses. Our family always loved going to the beach house to go fishing & hanging out at the beach with our children & the grandparents. It was a weekend destination! The porch was always the spot for coffee & conversation it seemed!
After Randy’s father & mother passed away, we decided to give the house a face lift in 2016, which was needed! We begin the major transformation by adding a pool, closing in an open deck upstairs, which is now a dining room and adding the bunk room downstairs along with a bath. Along with engineers, & our builders, Jim Bo Register, John, Harvey & myself, No Coconuts Cabana became a reality. I spent a total
of 2 years working there with the construction crew & pool installers, Jim Register and Danny Taylor. I have a memory picture book in the home for all to enjoy looking back at what our house was like before it was remodeled. We want everyone that has the opportunity to stay there to enjoy & appreciate all the love & work that went into making No Coconuts Cabana what it is today! We also want our guest to make lots of memories and create the stories like we did over the years. Regards, Cheryl Massey

Why they chose this property
This property is in an ideal area of Emerald Isle & has a quiet family neighborhood. We have wonderful neighbors that help us look after our property & lots of them live there full time.
It is great being close to grocery stores & shopping. Also, as I mentioned earlier, it’s easy to get on & off the island! There is a walking and bike track designated just for walking & bicycling. It goes the full length of Emerald Isle and such a great asset to our island fun.
When we decided to remodel our home, we knew that we wanted it to be a 5 star property that our visitors would want to visit time after time.

What makes this property unique
What made us fall in love with our home is that it was built by my father in law, Daniel Massey along with his sons & we have so many wonderful memories of sitting on the front porch drinking coffee in the mornings with my mother in law, friends & family. Plus lots of steak dinners at night! They were the best!!
We will never forget the story that our dear family friend, Janet, told about a duck loose in the mechanical room & it wasn’t a real duck, but a heating & air duct😂😂😂.
Also my mother in law, Peggy Massey, was telling us one morning while drinking coffee, that there was a cloud over towards the waterway that never moved. We looked over that way and begin laughing! Really it was the top of the water tower to the left of our house & if you are sitting on our front porch, it could look like a cloud😂😂😂. So check it out when you are sitting on the front screened porch & yes that cloud never moves😂😂.
My father in law, Daniel Massey, loved to sit in a chair under the house enjoying the cool breezes & a cold beer! He had lots of stories to share and we recall them even today. By the time the stories were over, many beers had flowed!!! Those fishing stories could be as long as the fish that were supposedly caught! We love the memories, but miss the family members greatly that gave us those memories.
