Our Favorite Home Away From Home

This was our 5th year staying as a group of family and friends and again will not be our last. The place continues to be so inviting, clean, and comfortable and has the most relaxing views that I look forward to every year. We have more than enough space to spread out, and to gather by the fire table each evening on the deck. The house has everything anyone could need and especially in the kitchen to make great large meals. And we can never say enough about Anna the Property Manager. She is always so helpful when needed and we can always count on her being a text away to answer any questions. We are already booked for 2026 and will be counting down the days!
Hummingbirds are in abundance out of the dining window and on the deck (pro tip: don't wear red if sitting outside)
Great hiking around the property

Great Home for a Family Reunion

This was a wonderful location for our family reunion. The accommodations were comfortable for everyone from Grandma and Grandpa, to the teenagers, down to the 1 year old baby. We loved the various living spaces for people to spread out. The acreage surrounding the house is gorgeous! This was exactly what we wanted, and we would stay here again.

Amazing property

We were all so impressed with the house and property. It was fully stocked with everything and absolutely beautiful. The house felt very spacious. We had 25 adults and it didn’t even feel like it! The fire pit outside is great and the fire on the patio is amazing also!! We can’t wait to stay here again for family reunions. I would say the only thing the house is missing is a hot tub!

Great site for family reunion

We had a fantastic stay overall. The upstairs was a little hot the first evening, but the weather cooled off for the remainder of our time and we had a blast. The cabin fit our lat large family well and we enjoyed our stay. The pool cues were not very good, but everything else was great! We had plenty of room to set up yard games, enjoyed roasting hot dogs ands s'more's in the fire pit. Loved watching deer wander through the area and hummingbirds snack outside the windows. It was a great family vacation spot.

Great Wedding Location!

For folks looking for an intimate wedding experience this location is great. We slept ~25ish people and had multiple beds to spare. The wedding site does require driving for elderly guests. The road up is a little dusty so it's ideal to drive up, but multiple folks walked up so it's doable if people aren't super concerned.

Wedding in the mountains

We rented this cabin for our small mid-April wedding made up of 16 people total and the space was perfect. We had plenty of rooms and the cabin is so big that it never felt crowded, even after caterers and photographers showed up. Everything was exactly as described and more. Anna went above and beyond to ensure that we were updated on the local weather conditions so we could plan for the ceremony. Because of the muddy conditions, we weren't able to use the ceremony site, instead we married in front of the fire pit in the backyard and it was gorgeous. Due to the location, we were worried that it would be difficult for everyone to find, but with Anna's detailed pictures it was easy to find; no one had any issue. This cabin made our dream wedding come to fruition. We highly recommend the space!

Wedding weekend celebration

Beautiful property with lots to do in the surrounding area. We were up here for our wedding! Bad weather and unforeseen circumstances resulted in us having to pivot our plans for a ceremony at the ceremony site, but the location has plenty of options for backup plans for a ceremony. We ended up doing the ceremony on the porch near the gas fire pit and it worked out amazing! During our stay there was an emergency fire resulting in down power lines. As a result we had no power for a day, but the house is more than equipped for this. The property manager was very responsive and let us know where all the back up water and flashlights were. Each floor also had a fireplace and the house is equipped with more than enough firewood. Despite the unforeseen complications due to Mother Nature our group had a great time! Would definitely come back to this place.

Beautiful, secluded property

We stayed here for a week in August during a family reunion. We had 27 people including 15 children. It was spacious and comfortable enough for all of us, it had plenty of room for all our food (3 refrigerators), and we really enjoyed being here. The weather felt nice enough to be outside, and it was quiet and secluded. There are neighbors but you don’t really hear or see them. We enjoyed watching the deer, hummingbirds, and chipmunks that show up around the property. There is even a small tree house in the woods where the kids enjoyed playing. If you plan to come with small children, be advised: The pictures are a little deceiving; the area is not as flat as the pictures make it look. There are steep drop offs and the house is on a hill. You pretty much have to supervise the children the whole time they are outside. Also, maybe it was in the listing, but if not, there is no air conditioner. The temperature is much lower in the mountains so it was cold at night and in the early mornings. But the afternoons can get pretty warm. It wasn’t unbearable, but outside was sometimes cooler than inside.

Most magical wedding cabin ever!!

My now husband and I chose this cabin for our intimate wedding with our immediate family and closest friends, and could not be more happy with our stay!! We had 22 people staying in the cabin for 5 days, and had 38 total at the wedding, and there was plenty of room for everyone! The ceremony site was out of this world with colors and completely stunning - it even rained a day or two before the wedding day and was perfectly fine getting up there luckily! We took three cars back and forth to get everyone up to the ceremony site on wedding day. The house is STOCKED with more than we thought - toilet paper, towels to shower with, so much coffee! etc., and had tons to use in the kitchen as well. The wifi was good enough to receive text messages, but phone calls were pretty spotty. For a wedding weekend, we were totally okay with that - but a work trip probably would be tough! The only "downfall" if you want to call it that, is the night of the wedding the septic tank over filled and we had to call the property manager to take care of it. They came out super quick even being late at night, and completely fixed the problem along with cleaning the basement for us! Outstanding service and we're so grateful this didn't interrupt our wedding fun! We highly recommend this cabin for your intimate wedding or just a family fun weekend! So much to explore and just amazing views in the backyard, we are so happy with everything!!

One Lodge to Rule Them All

Location offered the seclusion we were looking for. We had a big crew and the rooms worked well to accommodate all the families and the age ranges. The water for the facility is supplied by spring that slowly keeps the 3k gallon tanks filled. We never had an issue with supply although we were mindful and creative with how we consumed water. The only thing that didn't work the best was the kitchen faucet. We think some mineral deposit hindered the flow which made for a slow dish washing experience. The manager did offer to send the maintenance man to look at it but we declined as it did not concern us enough to bother the maintenance man to come when it could be addressed later. Anna, the property manager, was clear on communication and prompt when we had a question. Some of our party thought that the listing could have been more detailed about the contents of the kitchen in terms of pots and pans. The lodge was well stocked with toilet paper and towels. Plenty of fridge and freezer space. There are two fridges/freezers down below on the lowest level ( plus a whole 'nother kitchen ). The kids enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor fireplaces. The owners provide plenty of wood for both. As the owner will say if you decide to come here, be prepared for the driveway. I liked it. Most of us had 2x4 vehicles and we made it just fine but we had favorable weather conditions during our stay. Basically a great place.

This was the perfect place for us to host our wedding. It comfortably fit all of out party members (around 14 people). The wedding site was gorgeous and we had the most perfect wedding. I highly recomend this cabin if you are looking to host a small wedding or a family reunion. Please take their advice for 4wd vehicles seriously because the driveways are steep but so so worth it.The host and owners and quick to respond with any concerns or questions. The cabin has many accommodations for all your needs, as well as plenty of fridge space!

About the host

Hosted by Tyler and Amelia Pearce

Host profile image
We have lived in Colorado Springs since 2012 and are raising our 6 children in the beautiful Cheyenne Mountain area. As of 2019, our children range from 15 years old to 1 year old. Neither of us are native to Colorado, my wife is from Minnesota and I hail from Arizona. We are thrilled to be able to settle in Colorado, and call it home.

Why they chose this property

We love the beautiful, private setting. You truly feel that you have the mountains to yourselves when staying at this property. Southwest Colorado is a perfect place for our family cabin because it is centrally located as a gathering place for our extended family in Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. We purchased this property because it would be a getaway large enough to accommodate our family in the future as our children grow and start families of their own. The San Juan Mountains are our favorite mountain range in Colorado. We love the isolation and beauty of the San Juans, and the close accessibility to all the amazing variety that the West has to offer. Towering mountain peaks (Telluride, Lizard Head Pass), canyons (Moab), ancient native American ruins (Mesa Verde), breathtaking rivers (Dolores), skiing and countless festivals (Telluride, Durango) are all a short drive away, and you can enjoy it all far from the chaos of the front range and other major cities.
