Check-out instructions

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items and remove leftover food and drinks
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Please remove all items from fridge. Please wash all dishes.
Turn off fans and ensure all windows and skylights are closed. In summer months turn off swamp cooler. During winter months set the thermostat to 45 degrees before departing.
Make sure fireplace is completely out and door is closed. Gather used bedding and towels and place in downstairs bathtub.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Supervise children closely. The railing on the loft and stairs have wide gaps between posts and will not protect children from falls.
Minimize water use. Our water is from a cistern that must be filled with water from off-site and hauled to the property.
Make sure to leave any of our belongings at the house when you leave. The carpet is light, so please remove your shoes while indoors.

About the host

Hosted by Ali Snowden

Host profile image
I am originally from California. I moved to the area to become a wilderness guide in 2020. I fell in love with the land and community and decided to make this place my home. My favorite part of being a host is getting to share this beautiful place and meet people from around the world.

Why they chose this property

This place is extraordinary! The town itself is split between high desert featuring sage, juniper and cottonwoods and mountains featuring ponderosa pines, scrub oak and aspens. In 20 minutes you can be high up in The Platas mountains or in the cliff dwellings in Sand Canyon or Mesa Verde.

We also want to acknowledge the land that Mancos, CO is situated upon is the ancestral land and territory of the Nuuchiu (Ute) people who were forcibly removed by the United States Government. We also acknowledge that this land is connected to the communal and ceremonial spaces of the Jicarilla Abache (Apache), Pueblos of New Mexico, Hopi Sinom (Hopi), and Diné (Navajo) Nations. It is important to acknowledge this setting because the narratives of the lands in this region have long been told from dominant perspectives, without full recognition of the original land stewards who continue to inhabit and connect with this land. Thank you for your attention and respect in acknowledging this important legacy.

What makes this property unique

The property was originally built and owned by a local artist. Many of his prints are featured in the cabin and his artistry and quirk are still featured throughout the property.
