Aside from the mess-up of dates on my reservation, we loved the house and proximity to everywhere we needed to go. We will definitely look to stay at this property again when in Eau Claire.
We loved our stay. Nicely decorated house. Walking distant to downtown restaurants. Great communication and check in process. E-bike rentals at the Local Store right down the block was a fun experience.
The Galloway House was so cute! Stayed there for a friend's bachelorette and it was the perfect location to be in walking distance to everything in Eau Claire. It was decorated nicely, very clean, and the communication with the owners was great. Would definitely recommend.
If you want to be within walking distance or downtown!
It was so nice to be within walking distance of downtown EC.. restaurants, shopping, bars, and farmers market/parks! The place was very cutely decorated and comfortable! We really enjoyed are time together there!
We wanted to celebrate the Holiday with my 89 year old Mother, and this place was a lovely respite from the big family gatherings. Beautifully appointed.
My friends and I stayed for a girls weekend and it was absolutely perfect. This home is incredibly charming and beautiful. The location is prime as there are restaurants, shops right down the street. The host was very helpful and responsive. Would definitely stay again!
This was our second stay. It works great for us and our older daughter and boyfriend visiting our younger daughter at school. House is very clean and homey. Bathroom is tight, but adds to the character. I would always choose this location over two hotel rooms.
Eclecticly decorated 2 bedroom. Visually appealing decor. Loved all the different lamps. Plenty of space in the house. Relatively clean. Bed comfortable. Central air was nice. Kitchen seemed well stocked. We did not cook anything. Getting to parking is confusing, so be sure to ask for the parking instructions.
My husband, daughter, daughters boyfriend, and I were in town to visit our younger daughter at UWEC. The location was great for us as we could walk to most of our destinations. The house was cozy, comfy, and very clean. It had everything we needed for a long weekend. The bathroom is small, but it was not an issue for us. We Will be back when our daughter graduates next year. Thanks for a great stay!!
This house is impeccably clean. Decorated really nicely. The perfect size for my mom and I to have a weekend bike/golf trip. The location is amazing. Eau Claire is such a cool downtown and we walked all over and this house is in the perfect spot. Across form the bike trail, down the street from an ice cream shop and the rest of downtown. I would definitely stay here again. I really don’t care for old houses because I just always think they will feel dirty and musty but this place is neither. Really awesome place.
Loved our stay at Galloway House! The flat was comfy, cozy (loved the fireplace!), and the decor was excellent. This owner, or whoever chose rugs, light fixtures, and furniture paid attention to the details. The beds were top level, it was awesome to have a kitchen, actually whole house while traveling. The house is very conveniently located, w/ in a couple blocks of downtown, where there are numerous coffee shops, restaurants, ice cream shops, & a fantastic local bookstore. Went for walks, bridge to bridge, every day. Actual neighborhood is ok, nothing to necessarily brag about. But I would take the convenience of the location. Would definitely stay here again!
This place was great for a quick getaway! Close to restaurants and shops, but set in a quiet neighborhood. House was very clean. Had a wonderful time exploring Eau Claire and staying in this home.

Horrible Oder
This is an old house built in the late 1800’s. Upon opening the door, we were hit with a dank, musty, moldy smell that permeated the entire house. This house has OLD windows so we dared open only one for fear of breaking it or not being able to get it closed again. We could not get rid of this oder. I woke up every morning with burning lungs and feeling sick. I didn’t think we could get a refund so we toughed it out until the last night when we couldn’t take it any more and found other accommodations. Upon notifying the owner or property manager of the situation, she was defensive and refused to refund any part of what we spent for this house.
It’s a shame because a lot of care has been taken to decorate and furnish this home. It really is cute and you can walk to town and the river in about 10-15 minutes. It was clean and the kitchen fully stocked with plates, utensils, etc.
The other negatives:
1. We were supposed to receive information the morning of our check in on how to check into the house. I had to call at 6 PM to get this information. I guess they forgot.
2. There is no dishwasher in the kitchen.
3. There is no garbage disposal in the kitchen sink.
4. I don’t know how safe this neighborhood is because on the last day that we were there, a weird guy was sleeping or passed out on the front lawn of the house and one of the neighbors called the police to get rid of him. This is something you don’t want to see on vacation.
The neighbors had a wrecked car and a lots of trash and junk in their yards, so that is the view from the kitchen window, although there is a partial fence that hid some of it.
If the owner addresses and corrects the moldy smell, the house would be fine. I love old houses. I have stayed in many old hotels and B&B’s and have never experienced this.
We very much enjoyed our stay here. The location was great for exploring Eau Claire and super walkable. The space was so well done. I haven’t stayed at a vacation rental with such nice decor and we enjoyed spending down time there.
