SPECTACULAR VIEWS - Glen Lake, Lake MI, Sleeping Bear Point, Glen Arbor getaway
Spacious and secluded cabin located just outside Glen Arbor on a ridge top overlooking Big Glen Lake in it's entirety, the Narrows Bridge, Sleeping Bear Point and Lake Michigan. VIEWS VIEWS VIEWS...enjoy the nature and lake views that surround you from the large walk around deck, and un-obstructed 180-degree views from almost every room in the house!
This home is perfect if you are looking for an escape to relax and recharge, a place to gather and connect with family and friends, or a “home base” to enjoy the many attractions and outdoor adventures Leelanau county and northern Michigan has to offer.
As you enter the home, you are greeted by a large lower level mud room with plenty of “out-of-the-way” storage for your belongings, and a half bath. Head up the stairway to the large open main level living and your breath is likely to be taken away by the views over Glen Lake, Sleeping Bear Point and Lake Michigan. The cabin boasts a traditional A-frame style, with a comfortable modern lodge feel. The open living area features a large vaulted ceiling with floor to ceiling windows and a natural stone fireplace, open concept kitchen, and dining area. The kitchen is updated (2019) with new appliances and a large kitchen island for gathering around.
The primary bedroom suite, with large primary bath and walk-in shower along with the two guest bedrooms and another full bath are also on the main level. A dedicated laundry space is available for guest use. A loft area continues with amazing views of the lake and is set up with a new 65-inch smart TV, ample seating for movie or game night, and a small work space.
A short ~ 7-minute drive to downtown Glen Arbor (most of this is getting down from the ridge top that affords you the beautiful views and quiet serenity). The village of Glen Arbor offers shopping, dining, bicycle and kayak rental. Jump on the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Heritage trail at the Crystal River trail head just 5-minutes drive “down the hill” from the cabin and enjoy miles of scenic bicycle riding and access to secluded beaches. Reach the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore attractions (e.g. Pierce Stocking Drive, Dune Climb) within a 15-minute drive and leave the tourists behind as you return to your quiet retreat. Explore all that Leelanau county and the peninsula has to offer - - beaches, trails and conservancy lands to hike or bike, historical farms and farmers markets, fishing, and shopping and dining in the quant towns of Leland, Northport and Suttons Bay. Boat rentals are available on Lake Leelanau and Big Glen lake where you can enjoy the pristine clear waters on a pontoon or ski boat. If food and wine is your thing, you have easy access to the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail and Traverse City. Enjoy the scenic winding countryside drive to reach many of these destinations. A vacation guide with recommendations will be provided after booking.
Special note to future guests: The private drive to reach the cabin and seasonal short-cut to town include some unpaved hilly roads.

About the host

Our profile photo is from the overlook on Alligator Hill (via snow shoes in the Winter!). We love to explore and enjoy many outdoor adventures. Our dogs, Max (deceased) & Bogey (6) have joined us on many adventures. We have hiked all over the area, enjoyed the beaches, rivers to kayak, lakes to boat / swim, the bike trails, farmers markets, restaurants, breweries, wineries, and more and love to share suggestions with our guests. Just ask!
Why they chose this property
We had not spent much time in the area prior to purchasing this home. We love cozy cabins and when we saw the view from this one we just had to go see it. Every time we visit we get to experience the views from a different perspective, rain or shine, cloudy or sunny, morning or night, it always amazes and brings a sort of calm you don't find anywhere else.
What makes this property unique
The cabin is nicely secluded and nestled in a wooded area, yet so close to so many things. It serves as a perfect relaxing and fun gathering space with family and friends, as well as a "hub" to get out and enjoy nature and all that Northern (lower peninsula) Michigan has to offer!
