Wild Acres Yurt on 36 acres bordering 800 acres of perserve with a 300 acre pond
This 20' yurt sits in a private location on our 36 acre hobby farm. We border the 800 acre Kelly Wildlife Sanctuary with trails and a 300 acre pond. The yurt has power, cold running water, A/C, induction cook top, freezer fridge, microwave, coffee maker, cookware, dishes, glasses, cutlery and silverware. It contains a queen sized bed, full sized futon, air mattress, table/chairs, and a wood stove. There is an enclosed private outdoor shower and the restroom is an outdoor port-o-potty. There is a fire pit with seating. Hot water can be heated on the cook top or small hot water heater. There is no indoor bathroom and the shower is outdoors. There is a small outside deck and and an outdoor fire pit with seating. There are some mowed walking trails on the property and we border the 800 acre Earl Kelly Wildlife Preserve with a 300 acre pond and hiking trails. We have goats and chickens which can be visited by guests by permission. We allow dogs but no aggressive breeds. All dogs must be approved ahead of time. Doggy daycare is available at our discretion. Guest can walk the 36 acres property and the adjacent 800 acres wildlife preserve. The yurt has its own private driveway and is in a private setting. Sounds from our animals and children may be heard from time to time while staying at the yurt. If walking the property you may see goat fencing in some areas. Please assume all fencing is electrified. We have a trail system that we mow but in wet seasons we can not mow all areas. The main trails leads right onto the Kelly Wildlife Preserve. It is a 15 to 20 min hike to the back side of the 300 acre Bog Pond where eagles soar and wildlife abounds. (If you are luck you just might see a moose..) You can paddle in from an inlet just down the road (1 beaver dam to portage) and on most days have amazing pond all to yourself. No kidding. The fishing is very good.

Great stay at a yurt on a remote property in Dresden Maine. Everything was as advertised, including a comfortable bed, kitchenette, outdoor shower with easy to use hot water, a fire pit, and even air conditioning on a very hot night when I arrived. Went for several walks on the property, which included goats. I did not have a chance to meet the property owners, whose house is down a separate driveway from the yurt, but they made this a very easy experience. I would stay here again. Thanks for a great weekend!
We had the loveliest stay. The amenities were wonderful as was the property itself. Appreciated the option for AC and there was even coffee available for our morning walking to the bog! Would absolutely recommend and stay again.
We absolutely loved it! In hindsight, we should have booked an extra day here. It was everything we had expected and more. We built a fire outside and hung out for a bit, just listening to the quiet night which was very much appreciated after all the traveling. The view of the stars was fantastic, and it was the most comfortable bed we slept on during our whole trip (4 different places). The wood stove kept us warm all night and it's too bad we had to leave for an engagement so early, it would have been great to stay longer. There are some really great places for a great beer and great food just down the way, and the hosts were fantastic, adressed every question we had and made the check in and out process super easy. Also their dog is adorable and so are the goats! Just a wonderful experience overall!
We were very pleased with the yurt. It was exactly like the pictures and description. We will be traveling to Maine again and we would stay here again.
What a fun stay - super clean Yurt and great communication. Family of four including two teenagers had a blast during short stay. Stove was ready for us to get a fire started to keep us warm. Yurt had everything we needed for an overnight along the way to Acadia.
We loved spending the weekend in the yurt during our trip to Maine! Beautiful interior framing and carpentry... so many thoughtful details. And the outdoor shower was a treat. Hope to be back soon.
My wife, pup, and I loved staying in James's yurt. It was well-equipped and near a lovely reservoir with great hiking and paddling. The yurt itself was a bit closer to the road than I expected, which made it feel a bit less private and increased the noise a bit, but overall it was a very enjoyable stay and we will gladly return if we are in the area again.
This was just what we needed. Well stocked kitchenette and bedding. Very pretty inside! We stayed one night and didnt get to walk around much because of the rain.
The yurt was well equipped and clean, the outdoor shower
was excellent. Nice quiet neighborhood. The "porta potty"
Could have been cleaner and better maintained.
Nice trails on the property.
We loved that this yurt property was an option to rent so close to the Good from the Woods event we attend annually at Oxbow Farmhouse Brewery in Newcastle. The bed was so comfortable! The yurt was cozy and had everything we needed for our little getaway. Good communication and easy check in. We will definitely book this with Jamie again!
This is a very cute and comfortable place to stay. Although the weather made our stay a bit soggy, we enjoyed our time in the yurt and a wet walk on the grounds. We had everything we needed for the weekend. We did not know until we got there that so much good food would be a close drive away, so we stocked up on groceries before arriving. Maybe next time we can enjoy the local digs!
Wish we could've found a way to swing our trip in order to stay here longer. Loved the outdoor shower and it was super easy to use. Wood stove was a huge plus with the colder temps at night. Took us an extra pass when we were looking for the drive initially but found it fairly easily using google maps vs apple maps. If we can get back here we definitely will
Our family enjoyed our time at this secluded yurt. The yurt itself was great and well stocked with extra bedding and cooking supplies. The outdoor shower was one of the nicest outdoor showers I have ever used! Cell signal was good here (especially considering how sporadic cell signal can be in this region). Our only recommendation is to have a few more printed instructions available in the yurt (how to refill the water tank, what to do with trash, etc.). Communication with owner was quick.
The wife and I enjoyed a quite weekend of kayaking and nature walks. The road to the Dresdan reservoir was inaccessible but we were able to find a boat launch not to far away. The only criticisms I would have is that the garbage was not emptied from the previous occupants and the grass could have been mowed in the immediate area around the yurt.
