Great eclipse weekend
We stayed here for a long weekend with family and friends to watch the solar eclipse pass through Vermont. Andy was great at communicating ahead of time, sending information about the house and the area, and also let us stay late on our final day so we could view the eclipse from the yard. There were plenty of toys and games for our kids and the adults especially enjoyed the well appointed kitchen and the firepit. Before we left our group was already talking about planning another visit to this property.

Great ski trip and location
We stayed as a family and the property worked out wonderful. Communication with the owner was excellent. I do think it should be recommended that whoever rents the property should make sure they have a 4 wheel drive since the road to the house was dirt and had some challenging muddy days to get to the house.

Week long comfort
I have been renting this house for several years in the winter now. It is so well equipped for families and friends which is a tremendous load off of a week or weekend. The owners work hard to keep the property in great shape. If you are looking for a great house in the valley go for it.

Perfect for family and friends
We had a wonderful time at Andy and Kim's place - plenty of amenities and space to spread out. We were family and friends getting together for an annual ski outing and location was perfect. We were easily able to all sit around the dining room table, complete with an extra dining table so no having to spread out in separate spaces or eat in shifts. Having two dishwashers and a fully stocked/functional kitchen meant cooking and clean up were easy. The extra space in the garage/barn was great for those wanting a space away from the larger group in the house. And we were able to take advantage of getting some short snowshoe walks around the house and property too!

Fantastic Fall in Vermont
The property is beautiful and perfect for a relaxing getaway with the family. We loved the house, the serenity of the outdoor spaces, and how it was pretty much 'turn-key' with all of the amenities/provisions given. Andy is a wonderful host who goes above and beyond to make sure you have what you need and that everything is as good as can be with your stay. Communication was absolutely top notch and the small towns nearby are charming with plenty of great things to do for everyone. We will definitely return!

About the host

We live in metro-West Boston. We met at Georgetown University and have been married for 30 years. Kim is a history teacher and Andy an attorney. We have 3 kids who have grown up at this property who are now all young adults. We have been in the Boston area for nearly 20 years and in Fayston for 18 years now. We hope to retire to Acorn Ridge in Vermont.

Why they chose this property

We have close friends that moved to the area and introduced the Mad River Valley to us. We love the fact that it is a great 4 season area with lots to do year round. We fell in love with the house and the property and have invested significant sweat equity into the property over the years adding the pond, wrap around porch, pergola and garage. The house is beautiful--it feels warm and cozy when just two people are there but can easily fit our extended family or friends.

What makes this property unique

Sit in the sunroom by the fireplace and watch the snow fall or birds visit the feeders. In warm weather, relax on the covered porch or the large stone patio. Kayak and swim in the pond. Enjoy the gardens--pick apples, pears, blueberries and blackberries. Watch the staggering night display of stars in the Vermont sky. Build a bonfire or light the propane fire pit and relax with friends and family. Cuddle up under hand made quilts and down comforters in winter. Relax in the sauna with heat and steam after a busy day. Make memories here with friends and family.
