We had a great time on our stay, beautiful view, quiet area, fish were biting, kitchen had plenty of room to work in, furniture was comfy, unfortunately it rained alot during out stay, but we still enjoyed our stay
We had the most amazing stay at the charming vintage cottage! We already miss the amazing views of Big spirit lake. The yard was gorgeous and our kids had a blast playing yard games. The cabin had every item you could think of from tinfoil to spices to pots and pans. Anytime we needed something it was there! The beds were so comfortable after long days of exploring the nearby communities and amenities. The host left us a personal note with Recommendations of activities in the area based on our kids ages. To top it all off, we were greeted with a plate of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. Words can't even express how Perfect our stay was. I recommend everyone who reads this should stay at the charming vintage cottage! On the other hand I hope it isn't sold out when we book again for next year!
There is so much to like about this property. You need to understand this is a cottage on the lake. It's not a 5 star hotel. We have stayed all over Okoboji, this was our fav place. Everything was very organized, clean beds, living room, etc. The owners communicated the entire stay. I even left a couple items and they offered to mail them to me! There is internet in the cabin and internet TV for the rainy days. We had a campfire each night outside. The space by the lake is huge with a big deck and plenty of chairs in front of the water. Also had a hammock and big sectional outside. The neighbors were both awesome and super nice to us.The location is exactly what we were looking for. We wanted to get away from the town but also be close enough to get anything we needed (12-15 minute drive to grocery store). There is a bait shop about 5 minutes north towards Loon Lake, we stopped there every morning. Spillway Drive in for Ice Cream was 12 minutes. The cottage is in a private set of houses on a private road. There is ample parking for up to 4 vehicles in front of the cottage. You are on the north shore of Big Spirit. The water is crystal clear, we brought a boat but didn't need/use it. We caught SO many fish from the dock...bass, crappie, perch, bluegill, walleye, catfish, drums. The kids were busy all day. You can get in the water and swim anytime as it's super safe and clear.Overall our stay couldn't have been better. We will be back!!

Cozy, Vintage Cabin Getaway
Loved the cabin itself but felt there could have been better or more supplies considering we had registered as 5 guests for 4 nights. We ran out of dish soap, paper towels, toilet tissue. And there were no dish rags or wash cloths, only dish towels & hand towels/bath towels. That is fine if we know ahead of time so we are prepared & can bring our own but the description said soaps & paper goods supplied as well as towels or linens. Not trying to be picky or rude, just thought you should know. It would also be nice to have a place to hang clothes or a better storage area in the bedroom off of the deck. The bed was very cozy & comfy! Appreciated having fans! Living room furniture very comfy & conducive to family game nights! Also, there was no hammock which I was really looking forward to as was represented in the photo! Had 2-3 lovely bonfires in the fire pit & enjoyed yummy s’mores one night! Beautiful lake view! Thank you for everything! We had a great family vacation making the most of every moment!
Super cute cottage on the North end of Spirit Lake. The deck is larger than it looks with a gorgeous view. We loved walking out on the dock in the evening and sitting on the bench. Plenty of outdoor seating and the hammock was a hit. The beds were comfy and if you're planning on cooking, the kitchen was stocked with everything you'd need (pots, pans, knives, utensils, etc.). The area is super quiet at night. Great family trip with my parents who are in their 70's.
