This quaint house had character but was nicely updated. Fidgets and sink needed some repairs, but it was the end of the season. Beds were comfortable and it worked well for two couples and a child.

Great Location

We had three adults and two children under 6 and the house was perfect. Location was great - just a short walk to the beach and into town. Owner was very quick to respond to any questions.

A perfect beach getaway

Overall, the beach bungalow is a fantastic place and I recommend it to others! I’ll be happy to stay there again if I find myself in south haven in the future. It’s got everything you need and is steps away from the beach. It was a great place to have fun, unplug, and relax.

We all enjoyed the location of the house, it was walkable to the beach and downtown, so wonderful! The screened in porch was our favorite hangout- we loved watching and greeting the people who walked by.. we also loved hanging out on the comfortable large couch… it was the perfect size house for our family and friends! The house was nicely decorated and the kitchen had everything we needed…there was a binder with helpful information about anything we needed locally!I would recommend you stay here.. we enjoyed every minute!nice and

South Haven with the Family

We had a great time, all as promised. 2 blocks from the overlook of the lake, 4 blocks to get to South Beach, about 6 blocks to downtown. Great house for the 10 of us. We hope to return. Thanks Amy!

Holiday weekend was perfect!

This house is wonderful! It is within walking distance to both the beach and downtown and the owners let us borrow the beach wagon, which really helped. They provided all that was necessary and we had enough room inside and out for the 9 of us. It was clean, well decorated and had new heating/air and appliances. Thank you for letting us stay at your place!

Excellent location!

Very comfortable home that is walking distance to the beach. Kitchen has supplies for cooking. Washer and dryer upstairs are so convenient. Each bathroom has a tub which made it easier to bathe little kids. Water toys in the garage were wonderful. Beds were soft and comfortable. Kitchen table was large enough to fit us all. Will highly recommend to others!

Disappointing!

Please read Pat M.’s review of July 17th. We found similar conditions during our 8/1-8/8 stay … which means that the owner did little to resolve any of the issues after Pat M.’s review was posted. In addition, we found the couch stained and dirty, filthy windowsills, a broken window latch in the kitchen held together with masking tape, a broken bathroom fan, a bedroom smoke detector hanging by wires from the ceiling and without a battery, completely demolished upstairs bathroom window blinds and a large kitchen floor vent filled with a spider web so large it was horrific. We did not feel comfortable at all letting our grandson crawl on the floor. Plus, there was only one key for the entire house. In our case we DID contact the owner who offered us a full refund if we wanted to leave – a completely unworkable remedy as this was our family vacation, we live across the country and South Haven was fully booked. The next day the owner brought flowers and wine and came over to clean. She also sent her handyman over on Tuesday for some of the other repairs. But the communication and visits required to even partially remedy the situation – not to mention our ongoing questioning of the cleanliness of the home – disrupted and put a damper on our one-week vacation. I understand the quirks and quaintness of an older beach home, but the disrepair and poor equipping of this one felt incommensurate with the cost – which was much pricier than listed due to high-season rates.

This review is unacceptable and not representative of our cottage at all! Jean, I immediately offered you a full refund because your demanding and rude texts (received less than an hour after you checking in) were inappropriate and I knew you would not be happy no matter what. I am sorry that offended you, I was trying to make you happy and was willing to lose the rental income. I came the next day to clean the vent you complained about and it took me less than 20 seconds. The rest of the house was spotless. The rest of the complaints you list are not factual and a complete exaggeration. If you are reading this as a future renter, please know that the two negative reviews I received this summer do not represent how hundreds of other renters have felt. The only valid complaint is that when the weather is extremely above average hot (like it was for several weeks this summer) the upstairs does not cool as well as the downstairs. We have already called a Heating and Cooling company to see about adding a separate cooling unit for the upstairs. We stay at the cottage at least one week a summer in order to make sure things are up to standard and that we would be happy if we rented it. It is an adorable, clean beach rental and we are proud owners!

Beach Getaway

The Beach House was a perfect getaway for us! Location is excellent- very close to the beach and walking distance from downtown. We loved the screened in porch for morning coffee and evening relaxation time. Highly recommend!

Great location, renovated but still old in some ways

The location of this house is perfect - two blocks to the stairs to the beach, easy walk to downtown. I thought, from the photos, the house was recently renovated or maybe even new. It is not. It was renovated at some time, but the floors are slanted and the fixtures show wear. All of that was fine, I just expecting something newer. The house decor is cute. The furniture is comfortable, though there are not enough seats for the number of guests it can accommodate. The dining table only has benches. The stove needs to be lighted with a lighter, and the dishwasher is small. There is no real yard, so cookouts would be on the driveway. Having said that, we had a great time! Just think of it as an older South Haven house - it was like many others we have stayed in.

Perfect for our 2 families

The space was clean and well maintained. We had 2 families stay there with 5 kids under 7 and the layout was perfect for it. One family of 4 took the downstairs bedrooms and family of 5 upstairs. The kids toys was a welcomed bonus for our Littles, and the common area was big enough we didn't feel crowded on a rainy day. We walked to town and the beach every day and even a couple of the kids could walk it without riding in a wagon. I would recommend this house to families, and would stay here again 100%.
