A quiet cabin in a wooded area near the Deschutes River in the southern end of Sunriver. With 4 bedrooms and 2 baths, a large dining table, and a fully equipped kitchen, it's a perfect family retreat for all ages. This space is a mix of the old and the new, with updated, comfortable beds combined with the charm of the 1970s. The cabin is located close to the river loop path, which is a beautiful path for walking, running, biking, and x-country skiing along the Deschutes River.
DCCA #1707. NEW! 10 SHARC passes are now included with this rental. This gives you access to the sledding hill, indoor and outdoor pools, and hot tub at the SHARC location, which is a 5 minute drive away.
This vacation home has been in our family since the late 80s.It has seen countless family Christmases, class trips, Spring breaks, and summer vacations. Although we occasionally let close friends use it, it has mostly been a family-only retreat. When we decided to make it available as a vacation rental, we put a lot of work into freshening it up with new paint and bedding, prioritizing comfort and convenience with families in mind. Our vacation home is never going to be as fancy and upscale as many of the newer Sunriver homes. But it is clean and cozy and a wonderful place to relax with friends and family.
Our location is absolutely fantastic. We are off Meadow Road, not far from Sunriver Resort. The Village is a 5 minute drive, a leisurely 30 minute stroll along the paths, or a short bike ride. The house is on a shady big lot with lots of trees. That shade combined with thick insulation keeps it warm and cozy in the winter but nice and cool in the summer.
The rooms: * Upstairs Cal King bedroom with a workspace (wireless Internet access included!) * Upstairs Queen platform bedroom * Upstairs full bath * Downstairs Queen bed * Downstairs Bunk bed room with toys, books, and changing table * Split downstairs full bath with full-sized washer and dryer * Great room, combination dining room/living room with large dining table and chairs, a convertible queen-sized futon, a wood-burning stove, and a wide-screen tv with a Roku stick * Full-sized kitchen fully equipped with stove, microwave, dishwasher, toaster oven, blender, and a new refrigerator. We also have a rotating collection of dry food such as soup, flour, spices, and pancake mix. We periodically check it to make sure the food hasn't expired, and we don't replenish it between guests, but you are welcome to use what you find and leave anything you buy but don't use
As parents of small children, we have created the type of space that we needed when traveling with them, making our vacation home both kid and adult friendly. One of the bedrooms has a bunk bed, toy storage (with toys), kids books, and a changing table. We also have the following kid friendly accessories that can be used or left tucked away when not needed:
* a high chair attachment, * a booster seat, * a supply of plates, cups, and cutlery for small kids, * attachments for gates at the top/bottom of the stairs * safety plugs for outlets * cabinet safety latches
There are snow shoes and cross country skis, boots, and poles available that can be used right off the back porch in the winter when there is snow, or on Mt Bachelor, a short drive away.
The outdoor closets also contain 3 adult bikes and 3 kid bikes. Additional bikes can be rented inexpensively in the Sunriver Village as needed.
Guests have access to the entire property except for a locked owner's closet upstairs and an outdoor closet off the back deck.
Note: We have a motion detection camera pointed at the driveway. This camera is mostly for detecting snow in the winter so we know when to call for snow removal services. However, we may occasionally also review it for security purposes.

The Sunriver place was an excellent house for our family gathering. All the cupboards were labeled enabling us to make the holiday meals quickly. The place was very clean, and we appreciated being able to utilize all the amenities.
We had 3 families stay in July 2024. 5 kids ranging from 8 to 5 months, and their parents. The house was clean and comfortable. The hosts were notified of a need for a new frying pan and literally had one instacarted to the house. They were very responsive. The days we stayed the weather was high 90s, to 100. The house stayed comfortable with leaving windows open at night and fans on, and then closing everything up in the morning. There wasn’t a dyer need for ac and like I said it was 100 or high 90s.
Overall we had a great trip and the house was perfect for our group.
Just as described. Well stocked. Great location for biking especially. Away from the crowds. No need for A/C; the house stays remarkably cool if you follow the suggestions in the welcome book.
We came with our 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren, ages 6 months to 6 years. Our son and family stayed at a nearby cabin, so it was a great family reunion. We felt at home. Totally. Everything we needed was there. Bikes and helmets, baby equipment (highchair, baby bath, stepstools, gates), toys and books for all ages. Kris was very responsive and hospitable but we really didn't need anything. Sunriver is a fun place. We hiked, biked and swam. In short it was perfect.
We had a wonderful extended family get-together in Sunriver. The host, Kristina, was very helpful and communicated well with us.
The house had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The location was great. We would definitely stay at Deschutes House again!
We had the best time. The children really enjoyed the toys and games and bikes and all the trails. The cabin is so cute and quietly mussels into the forest it’s just spectacular would rate 5 out of 5 every time and will most definitely be staying here again.
Thank you Kris for being so hospitable.
The house was exactly as described in the listing. Perfect for our family of four with two kids under 6. There were toys and games and even step stools for the sinks. It’s a short walk to the bike paths and a 10 minute scooter trip to the river from there. The house was clean and well kept and the beds were comfortable for all!
Just stayed at this Sunriver home for six days. Had friends meet there. What a great place. Quiet location, comfortable home. Kris was very responsive when i had questions. I’m planning to return in the spring. Fantastic place for biking, exploring. Loved it.
Great location to everything Sun River! Owner was nice and communicated well as needed. It is an older home, but that is in the description, so no surprises. Lots of space for a family or two and great bikes and cold weather things to keep one busy. Wifi and Roku worked great.
