Upon arrival our initial reaction was somewhat disturbing in that the cabins appear to be part of what can be described as a less than maintained small RV park. However the owner was very friendly and accommodating and our cabin very clean and as described.
One issue while walking my small dog on a lease I was as approached by an unleased Great Dane type dog and as our dog is very cautionary around larger dogs I tried to pick my dog up. Before doing so the larger dog was at my feet and immediately atop my dog having her pinned down with its opened mouth around her neck. I yelled for the owner but had to shoved the larger dog off to the side and pickup my dog. Luckily my dog did not incur and bits.

We loved our little cabin for the 3 nights we stayed! Paul the host was very kind and helpful. Perfect location for day trips to Custer, wind cave, jewel cave, mt Rushmore. It’s hard to find a place that fits a family of 5, our kids loved the loft.
Highly recommend
it was very good and close to everything we wanted to do.
It was smooth and good

Nice apartment
The cabin was nice; however, the setting was misleading in the pictures. It was less than roomy outdoors and not picturesque. We never could find the fire pit
Loft was tough for old folks, and neighborhood was commercial, but the central location to major sights made up for it. Paul (host) was great and his tomatos were outstanding!
The loved the space. My kids loved the upstairs bunk style beds. The kitchenette was perfect for our family and all the little details like coffee maker, toaster and refrigerator. I loved that we could bring our dog to this location. One thing that bother me. The curb appeal was lacking. The grounds had trash laying around and the roads were in horrible shape. We didn’t spend a lot of time at our cabin. We traveled back and forth to the tourist locations in and around Custer. Please fix up the curb appeal. It does matter.
Loft was steep and short (height). No washer or dryer. This is on the edge of a camper site not in wilderness. I might have missed this in the listing.
Great location, close to everything we wanted to see. Only downside: we didn't plan enough time to stay!

Excellent cabin. It had everything we could have needed like dishes, cleaning supplies, privacy, enough space to play with our dog outside, nearby trails, close to town and nearby attractions and more. We will definitely be returning in the future and would definitely recommend to anyone going to Custer, SD.
We were spending a few days exploring Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park. This place was perfect for what we needed; a place to sleep, shower, and make our meals. The kids loved the upstairs loft area. Property was quiet and not too far from town. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for an updated, clean, and no-frills place to stay near Custer; if we ever return to the area for future trips, I would not hesitate to stay here again!
This cabin was the perfect for our long days out hiking and exploring. The kitchen is very roomy and allowed us plenty of space to prepared the majority of our meals. The cabin was a great refuge in the evenings; the beds were comfortable and the water heater was outstanding!
I felt like there have been some recent upgrades in the cabin or it was completely new, I couldn't tell for sure. But it was very clean and had enough room for the 5 of us to sleep. It just lacked a few items that would have given it the 5 star rating. The first was the lack of any toiletries in the bathroom other than hand soap. I guess in my VRBO experience, I'm used to having the basics of a bath bar and some shampoo to use. I assumed wrong. The other incomplete area was the kitchen. The unit is advertised as a "5 person" place, but there were only 4 place settings and 4 areas around the table. Other "basic items" that would have been nice is salt/pepper, a whisk, and a turner for cooking.
The area the properties are located in is not the most scenic. Fuel tanks fill the area behind the property and most of the campers appears to be long term tenants because of the appearance of their "yards".
BUT, if you're looking for a QUIET (completely away from any road noise which was awesome) and CLEAN place, this is it!
Great place to stay just a couple miles out of town. Very quiet and peaceful.
