What a blessing this house is. The yard. The house. The views. Couldn't ask for more if you have to be away from home for an extended amount of time. The owners and management are awesome and easy to work with. Hope to be here again next year!
My husband and I rented the house for a central location for our family to celebrate Christmas together. With two kids already living in Glenwood Springs, this location was perfect! Close enough to hot springs, hiking and skiing! We had a 9” snow dump during our stay which made for a beautiful white Christmas. There was a leak in the dining room as a result of the snow melting but was an easy clean up and should be easy for owners to repair. The upstairs bedrooms and bathroom was dubbed “the hobbit hole” by our adult kids and we really loved the quaintness of it all. We come to Colorado all year long and would highly recommend staying here!
Properly equipped with all necessities including cooking hardware, just no grill. Good hot water and washer/dryer. A little older home but offers every need!

Hunting trip in Rifle
My husband and I were happy to find a place close where we could stay for our hunting trip. We had a kitchen to come back and cook in, a place to come back to take a shower after we were outside all day long. The house is charming and Victorian, yes. Old and rustic, yes, but cleanliness was not up to par. The rug in the living room was dirty, there were ring stains on the table in the living room of I don’t know what, dried food on one of the arms on the chair in the living room, the floors throughout the house were filthy as well as hair all over the bathroom floor upstairs and downstairs. Underneath the sink in the kitchen was a disgusting mess. The refrigerator was not completely clean but not completely dirty either. Opening the blind in the kitchen I noticed a huge spiderweb, dust everywhere in the windows. If you are paying somebody to clean that place I don’t know what they’re doing. You are either fibbing about the place being cleaned or they are stealing your money. Also we had to provide our own batteries for the remote control for the television in the living room because the batteries were dead. I’m actually glad that we had some AAA batteries with us for our headlamps that we hunt with otherwise we would not have been able to watch TV. I understand that I could have tried to get a hold of you regarding batteries but felt that that was pretty petty so I decided not to do that and I’m leaving it in my review. Also with it being chillier at night we would’ve maybe liked to of had a fire but there were two logs to put in the fireplace so couldn’t do that.
As far as I am concerned, the woman who owns this property is a business owner. If I had looked at the reviews from previous people who stayed at her property I would have never booked this place. Her rebuttal to the review from the “anonymous” gentleman, or lady, was extremely unprofessional and defensive. Technically, although you go through VRBO, you are still a business owner. There is a reason why there is a review process for people who stay at this property or any property. Regardless if they like it or not it is still constructive criticism. You cannot please everyone, but you can certainly try. You did not try with that person. You got nasty. Again, you are a business owner and you should take those reviews as constructive criticism. I did notice that you have two properties in rifle. We will not be booking with you ever again. Thank you, regardless.
We had a great home base with easy access to Rifle Mountain Park to go rock climbing. The hosts were responsive to our requests and very accommodating!
We really enjoyed our stay. Everything exceeded expectations. The property was clean and fully stocked and the host was responsive and easy to reach. Made for a great home base to work remotely for a few weeks.
The house was clean and cute on the inside. The outside/roof needs a bit of work. It is well furnished and has the essentials for home cooking.
Something to note is the cooling is only available through a swamp/evaporative cooler pump on the second floor, which won’t help cooling downstairs much. It is so loud (even on Low) we decided not to use it at night. I am not complaining about it, we just preferred to keep the doors and windows open (only a few windows actually open though, so limited air flow). It was fine with us, although some people may feel unsafe sleeping with front and back door open. The temperature upstairs was definitely in the 80° at night if you decide not to use the noisy cooler unit.
The WIFI worked very well, we were able to work and stream videos without a single issue. The massive bean bag made for comfy book reading sessions.
The location is great for outdoor activities, easy access to state parks. Grocery and convenience stores are also super close.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in Rifle! The description says this place is peaceful and zen and it truly is.; even our pups immediately relaxed when we arrived. A prior review complained about the swamp cooler however, we had no issues with the setup during our stay despite local temperatures reaching 100 degrees. The location is ideal. The neighborhood is nice and quiet, locals were very friendly, there are incredible views from the home, and easy access to shops and restaurants. It may sound strange, but a walk through Rose Hill Cemetery a few blocks away is highly recommended. It's incredibly beautiful with some amazing history. We had to contact the property manager regarding our need to check out early due to an emergency back home and she responded within seconds and was incredibly kind and gracious. Check in was equally easy. Our only recommendation for this property would be to give a little TLC to the front yard so travelers have a relaxing outdoor space to sit out and enjoy a sunset; however, we would absolutely stay here again!!! Thank you for sharing your Victorian gem with us!!
Renting process was simple . Owner communicated well . Seemed very sweet . Only was there to sleep at night ,we wish we could have stayed and enjoyed this cute Victorian home . We will definitely look to rent from the owners again if and when we are in the area again. Rifle is a beautiful area surround by gorgeous mountains .
Frustrations finally getting access code prior to traveling, not hearing back from the manager or owner for days. Had to call VRBO to get hold of either. Home was described as "Zen" feel "Victorian House" and actually an old run-down foreboding and unapproachable looking house on the outside. Cooling promised through Swamp Cooler, which worked fine but only on second floor where it is located. Smoke alarm battery cherping piercingly and incessantly woke us up and had to be dealt with in the middle of the night, of course after trying for a long time listening to figure out which alarm it was. Then, in the AM prior to check-out a repairman arrives, without our having been notified. Located in coarse looking neighborhood in center of a town replete with the most disorienting, confusing traffic circles ever. The only redeeming feature for us was the living room and the TV. All this for close to $400 for a night. The night before, we'd stayed in a much smaller place in rural Utah for almost half the price.

Wow anonymous (but I know who your are "GW" ) you were so nice in direct communication to me, I'm surprised that your jokes and easy going nature was just a facade. 1. Check in instruction were given to you on the 21st, that's 5 days before your arrival. 2. The house looks exactly as it does in the pictures. It's an old victorian and not a 5 star hotel, if you wanted that you should have booked one. 3. If there was a problem with the smoke detectors we would have been more than happy to come out and deal with it, you never contacted us so how are we supposed to remedy that- use some common sense! If you have a problem call us and we will deal with it. Don't complain about it after. 4. You knew the price when booking and if that price was too much for you, you should not have booked with us, it's not like we surprised you with the price and of course something bigger in a popular spot in Colorado is going to cost more than rural Utah. Lastly the confusing traffic circles are called roundabouts and we actually didn't construct them personally, this is something the city did but thanks for reflecting your view of the local roads and putting it in our review as part of your low rating. Sorry everyday things are confusing to you. Luckily everyone else has liked the home and your review was an insult after being so nice in your direct communication. So glad you will never book with us again, 2 faced people are the worst. All of this could have been taken care of with a phone call but you took the coward's way and left a review "anonymously" but thanks to VRBO letting me know the dates of stay I know who this is. Thank you for trying to drop our ratings and get people not to stay.
Pulling up at night, the barren yard and unkept walk made the place seem a little frightful to enter, but it was nice enough inside. It’s an older structure with quirks, and some charm. It was clean, albeit with some lingering smells; perfumey.
The part of the driveway we could see at night needed a high clearance vehicle, so we parked on the street. The drive way has entrances on two different streets, we realized in the am. It would be nice to have known this from the entering instructions.
The surrounding mountains are amazing and there are some shops and restaurants within a few blocks.
We needed an overnight stay on our road trip and this place worked out nicely.
The views from this property were incredible! The house sits up on a hill above the town, so we looked out on all the surrounding mountains and gorgeous sunsets and sunrises during our stay. The home is perfect for a family stay; we had space for dinners and game nights, the tv was easy to operate, and there’s plenty of room for everyone to have their own space in the house. It’s also located near Glenwood Springs, which was perfect for a day trip into town. Definitely recommend!!
When we pulled up - little scary yard and outside of house but very nice inside Everything we needed. Might want to leave info about tv/cable for next person but manager got right back to us about it
