About this property

► Pet stays must be approved BEFORE you book.
► Dog owners, please scroll down for details how to request a pet stay.
Welcome to your new, favorite cabin in the Smokies! Swaying Pines--now in its 23rd year as a family vacation getaway--is only a 5 minute drive to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. And the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Gatlinburg entrance is only 6.5 miles away.
You'll be right around the corner (about 200 feet) from a community catch-and-release 5 acre fishing lake. Since it's private property, you won't need a fishing license. Just pack your poles and try your best angling skills on the bass, catfish, sunfish and grass carp. Or if you're not into fishing, take a peaceful morning walk by the water and watch the resident ducks and seasonal geese.
What can you expect outdoors at this cabin?
► Paved driveway and parking for 2-3 vehicles
► 5 steps up to the deck
► Small yard with horseshoe pits (non-regulation)
► Large deck with outdoor dining and seat cushions
► Nordic hot tub (4-5 person) with cover lift bar
► Charcoal grill
► Outdoor lighting (well-lit driveway and deck)
► Schlage keyless entry with your own, unique key code
Once inside, you'll see the living/dining area and just beyond that the kitchen. Right off the kitchen is the master bedroom with king bed, bathroom and laundry. The second floor has a full bed at the top of the stairs in the loft and a queen bed in the bedroom. The second floor bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a tiled stall shower. Here's what you'll find in both bedrooms:
► King bed: Novaform ComfortGrande Plus, Advanced Gel Memory Foam for temperature regulation and medium firmness
► Queen bed: Novaform 3" memory foam plush topper on commercial coil-spring mattress. This bed is ideal if you like a bit softer, pillow-top mattress.
► Plush pillows and quality linens (we replace our pillows every 12-18 months)
► Ceiling fan
► Desk, chair and desk lamp
► Dresser or armoire for clothing storage
► Extra large mirrored closet
► Luggage rack
► Wooden hangers
► 55" Insignia smart TV with Spectrum cable in master bedroom
► 46" Sharp smart TV with Spectrum cable in queen bedroom.
The kitchen is well-equipped with quality cookware, glass bakeware, half-sheet baking pans, pizza pan, wood cutting board and knife block, grilling utensils, etc. Swaying Pines has plenty of small appliances, too:
► Cuisinart waffle maker
► Ninja smoothie blender
► Crockpot
► Toaster
► Keurig
► Drip coffeemaker
► Electric kettle
► Icemaker (in freezer)
Finally, the living space. We've stayed in a few hotels and vacation rentals over the years and discovered it's hard to find really comfortable furniture. That why we invested in quality reclining furniture (the sofa is electric). The dining table and chairs are over 20 years old but they're solid and sit comfortably. We even have some chair pads on them for a little extra cush :). We have blackout blinds at the windows and louvered door blinds for added privacy. There's a variety of good lighting (accent, task and ambient).
There is a single Ring security floodcam that lights up the driveway as you pull in. The video field is trimmed to record only the driveway and the 5 stairs leading up to the cabin. This camera allows us to monitor inclement weather at the cabin and have a record of when our housekeeping, pest control or any other service providers have been there. We don't actively monitor this camera but may do so occasionally if something requires our attention.
We want you to have an amazing vacation and make sure Swaying Pines is a good fit for your needs. Please let us know if you have any questions prior to booking!

About the host
Hosted by Jen Monschke & co-host Amy Greener

Hi I'm Amy Greener and along with my husband Rick, we own and self-manage our 3 cabins in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, plus a few more for our neighbors. Our goal is to give you the best vacation rental experience ever. We hope to retire someday but for now, this is our family business and it keeps us busy!
Why they chose this property
Lots of people ask us why we chose this area to buy a vacation rental, when there are so many beautiful properties in our home state of Michigan. Honestly, it boiled down to two big factors: money and weather. With three young children, we didn't have much money to work with. We were looking specifically for a modest, fixer-upper. And Michigan gets mighty cold after October, so we headed south for our cabin search. We stumbled across Swaying Pines and new immediately it had real potential. It was painted blue outside and sad looking inside, but with time and sweat equity it's become a favorite with guests. We love the Smokies, the history of the area and it's welcoming people. We've made many friends and acquaintances here over the years, and you can't help but feel that wonderful southern charm and hospitality wherever you go.
What makes this property unique
Swaying Pines is a hidden gem...only 5 minutes from either Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. We especially enjoy the short drive to either town when it's really busy, like holidays. The 6 acre lake is privately owned so you don't need to buy a fishing license. It's so relaxing to take a walk around the corner to the lake and drop a line...or just make a loop around the lake for some exercise. The horseshoes are lots of fun, too. It has been a joy for us to gradually update and upgrade the cabin and hear comments from guests who remember it having a blue exterior, dial up internet or the old jacuzzi in the main bath. Humble beginnings, for sure :)
