Between La Rochelle and Saintes, and 30 minutes from the beaches, your country house will allow you to spend your days by the pool, or relax in your private garden in the peace of the fields and woods, with sometimes the privilege of the spectacle of 'a family of deer passing nearby.
Its central location in the Charente Maritime department will facilitate your visits to Saintes (15 mins), Rochefort (20 mins), La Rochelle and Royan (45 mins) and of course the islands of Oléron (35 mins), Ré and Aix (50mn).
You can taste the specialties of the Region in the numerous gourmet restaurants of the neighboring municipalities.
Your Cottage is ideally situated for hikes or fishing trips on the banks of the Charente (1.5 km).
Your hosts, hardly present on the site, live in the main house of the 18th century of this magnificent domain.
The 6000 m2 of the property and the layout of the buildings guarantee your privacy and tranquility.
A terrace welcomes you with barbecue, dining table and lounge chair in front of your cottage.
You enter the house through the terrace and you are in the living room with open kitchen (4 gas hotplates, electric oven, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, coffee maker, kettle, French and international TV channels, stereo )

Excellent location and amenities. Gite is very well positioned and the large pool is a delight.

The Gite is ideal for a visit to the beautiful Charente Maritime region, ideally located between La Rochelle and Bordeaux, plus all the surrounding wine and Cognac growing region. Lovely place for a peaceful gateaway, with everything you need close by. Highly recommended - Most importantly, the host Christian is very welcoming and explained everything to us about the Gite and the region.

Ideal location, wonderful pool and grounds - but needs wifi

The property is well-kept, in stunning grounds and with a fantastic pool. We were prepared for the "miller's ladder" to the bedroom, and brought our own bedding/towels. As a holiday gite, it was great in all respects but for two things: the weather was wonderfully hot but if it had been rainy, the 'armchairs' in the living area were not very comfortable if sat more than an hour. We had noted that in 2023 wifi availability had been queried and the owner wrote on the site page that he was investigating installing wifi. As the property notes for 2024 actually state "internet: available in the house - wifi", we were very disappointed to find that the wifi was still only available by sitting by the pool close to the owner's house. As the temperature was in the high 30s, with a wind (preventing use of the parasol), we were unable to use the wifi other than in the early morning and later evening. This was very frustrating. We experienced a bereavement during the week and our necessary contact with home was curtailed by lack of wifi and the limited 4g reception in the gite.

je ne comprends pas ce commentaire . Ce site est en location depuis des années sans avoir eu ce type de commentaire notamment sur la propreté. L'information des marchés de la zone a été donnée le jour de l'arrivée pour chaque jour de la semaine , et de plus elle figure dans le book avec toutes les informations sur les restaurants, les commerces et autres informations , j'ai passé 30 mn à relire avec vous le book pour etre précis ? Comme indiqué dans le descriptif sur abritel le wifi ne fonctionne qu'au niveau de la piscine et pas à l'intérieur du gite. Pour la couverture radio, Free ne fonctionne pas, comme indiqué lors de votre arrivée . Par contre la couverture SFR/Bouygues et Orange est excellente en 4G/5G. Donc je ne comprends vraiment pas votre avis .

Piscine et extérieurs très agréables, mais ...

Piscine et extérieurs très agréables. Hôte très gentil, avenant et qui donne beaucoup d’informations à l’arrivée, avec un livret d’accueil très travaillé et très détaillé. Quelques bémols néanmoins. Nous sommes sûrement arrivés au mauvais moment, après des jours de pluie, et le gîte sentait fort l’humidité. La première nuit s'est faite dans des draps humides, nous avons du allumer les radiateurs pour assécher un peu les pièces. La propreté était à parfaire, beaucoup de toiles d’araignées et de poussière sur la décoration de cette ancienne grange retapée et les joints rouges dans la douche auraient mérité un décrassage. L’échelle de meunier pour monter à la chambre est très raide. Elle est effectivement notée dans la description mais on ne s’attend pas forcément à ça… une photo serait plus parlante. Le linge de maison n’est pas fourni ou en supplément, ce qui n’est pas précisé dans l’annonce. La déconnexion est assurée (voire forcée) … à peine la 3G chez Bouygues dans les alentours et au gîte. Le Wifi est uniquement possible vers la piscine et non pas dans le gîte. Et enfin, des vélos sont effectivement fournis mais pas vraiment en état pour faire des kilomètres… amener ses propres vélos si vous souhaitez beaucoup rouler.

J'avoue que je suis surpris par vos commentaires , car en 5 ans de locations aucun locataire ne m'a alerté: - cette année les locations ont débutés en juin sans interruption, et personne n'a fait état de cette humidité, y compris les locataires de la semaine précédente? ( Vos draps stockés 8 jours dans votre voiture la semaine précédente dans un climat pluvieux est peut être une source d'explication ?). - il est bien précisé dans l'annonce escalier traditionnel droit de meunier et j'ai , depuis plusieurs années , des personnes d'un certain âge + 80 ans , comme locataire et ceci ne semble pas poser de problème puisqu'il revienne régulièrement. - le wifi comme précisé dans l'annonce est disponible autour de la piscine et dans le parc avec un débit > à 25 Gbit/s (fibre) mais pas dans le gite . Une étude de faisabilité en indoor est en cours. - Le linge de Maison et la préparation du lit est une option pour 30 € , je vous l'avais proposé 8 jours avant votre arrivée et vous avez décliné. - pour les vélos , comme précisé dans l'annonce pour avoir des vélos assistés électriquement il faut faire appel à des prestataires locaux et ce n'est pas prévu évidemment dans la location. - merci de m'avoir alerté pour le ménage je ferai le point avec la personne en charge de cette prestation pour recadrer le sujet. Je pense que la déception relative de votre séjour est nettement influencée, et s'est compréhensible, par la météo catastrophique que vous avez subi pendant l'intégralité de votre séjour, alors que vous veniez chercher le soleil et la chaleur. Mais je vous le confirme ceci est exceptionnel en Charente Maritime, ou d'habitude les locataires se plaignent de la chaleur, et je suis désolé pour vous surtout qu'après votre départ nous avons retrouvé la température habituelle > à 30 °. En espérant que cette expérience malheureuse ne vous empêchera pas de refaire une tentative sous le soleil de Charente qui reste la 3ième zone le plus ensoleillé de France en nbre de jours.

Beau séjour très ensoleillé

La description de la location est parfaite. Les propriétaires sont charmants et disponibles. L'environnement est superbe et calme. Petites améliorations à penser : grandeur et fraiseur pour le frigo et changer le canapé 😉. Venez dans ce petit coin de paradis !

Super verblijf in de zonnige Charente!

We waren te gast bij een heel goeie gastheer die heel wat info gaf over de gite en de streek. Het zwembad is top! Vanuit Geay kan je alle kanten uit: richting van de eilanden( o.a. île de Ré en Oleron) , la Rochelle... Maar ook de andere kant uit richting Saintes en Cognac..alsook de prachtige kusten in de buurt van Royan. In de gîte hadden we alles wat nodig was om een comfortabele vakantieweek door te maken. Ook het grote terrein is een meerwaarde om van de rust te genieten! Dank aan de gastheer voor dit aangename verblijf! Een aanrader!

Un endroit paradisiaque où se ressourcer

Le gîte est très bien équipé, il y a tout et plus encore ! Très confortable, décoré avec goût, on se sent chez soi. La piscine et le jardin sont grands et beaux, à l'abri de la cohue touristique. Il faut faire un peu de route pour les visites mais le calme est tellement appréciable que ça vaut largement le coup. Les propriétaires sont discrets et charmants.

Quiet Hideaway

We enjoyed our stay in this charming, quite place. The house is cozy and small, but well equipped. The beautiful garden is huge and offers total privacy (including the heated pool). Many thanks to our always friendly and helpful host Christian!
