Overall, we had a very nice stay here. Owners were responsive and easy to work with. As other reviewers mention, the house does need a little TLC, but it is spacious, has a nice private/wooded lot, and is well located -- the town of East Hampton (for shopping, groceries, dining) is just a few minutes away. The pool is nicely heated and very pleasant.
Melissa was a perfect guest, I'm delighted that she and her family had a good time.

Great location but house needs TLC
Let me start with what went great. The house is very spacious, in a quiet location and has a lovely pool. When my sister and I first arrived to the house, the owner was super responsive to our questions and handled anything that wasn't ready. He even let us order a few missing items from Bed Bath and Beyond and sent me a venmo for the cost. I should highlight due to Covid, things are just not normal and everything has taken longer than expected. However, as our time went on there, we realized what poor condition the house was in so I asked the owner for a discount, this did not go over well and will likely be reflected in his review of me. I am fine with this, I rent my own home and have glowing reviews, one bad one isn't a big deal. I would rather be honest so people know what they are paying for. There is a laundry list of things that needed to be fixed or replaced that include; running toilets, a major ant problem, a construction site off the back of the house, lightbulbs out, landscaper came once in 5 weeks, no real place for more than 3 people to watch tv, no wine glasses, no vacuum, no iron. Due to lack of cleaning products, it was hard to keep the house clean, we ended up purchasing swiffer wet wipes, new sponges and a cleaning spray. My sister and I were on our hands and knees using a dustbuster to vacuum. At one point, the pool guy came and said (totally unprompted, I have proof) "everything at this house is broken." It just felt like no one had put a penny into the place in years, the outdoor shower is broken, the grill has a pipe out, the rails around the deck are wobbly, there was an old broken pool skimmer on the lawn when we got there, and more things. I come from a place of peace, I truly do. Like I said, I rent my own home and take such pride in it, I always joke that my home is cleaner and nicer for guests than it is for me because that is what's important to me. I am just highlighting these things because I know the owner is not going to like what I have to say here.
I will just say that while this house is very rundown it has such great potential. We stayed about 5 weeks to escape the craziness of the city and we really had a great time despite what I described above. We will always look back at this time as a true blessing in a crazy world!

This was deeply disappointing. Christine and her party arrived having been given a major discount and then spent the first two weeks telling me how great everything was. At that stage, she was behind on her payments, so I had to ask her four times to make the final payment. At this stage, she threatened me in a text (I have proof) that she would write a bad review if I did not not give her a further discount. Finally, the cleaners told me that they had never seen a house left in a dirtier condition and the shed was absolutely full of their garbage. I had bent over backwards for these people but they turned out to be rather nasty.

total disappointment + waste of money
We are a busy family living in the city with young children and we needed a relaxing getaway. Frankly, we had a bewilderingly negative experience here. In retrospect I should have heeded the negative review from last summer.
Before our check-in, we emailed the host a list of questions like, "does your home have floaties for the pool?", "do you recommend any local grocery stores", etc. He wrote back a polite but perfunctory email saying that he couldn't answer our questions, as it was more of an investment property than a second home.
The day before check-in, the host confirmed it was OK for us to arrive early (one of the few positives we experienced). He also mentioned that there was a problem with the pool filter but said it was no big deal and that while someone would be working on it, we would still be able to swim while he did so.
Upon arrival, we saw that the pool filter was, in fact, a big deal -the pool was filthy, and there was a giant muddy ditch around the pool. During our 6-day stay, we never did get into the pool because while the filter issue was fixed and the ditch was filled in about halfway through our stay, the pool heater never worked and the water remained freezing. We are easy-going, conflict averse people, and this whole experience left us drained and frustrated. The home, while spacious, was very... lived-in. Though the host claimed it was not a second family home, there were family photographs all over and growth charts for I assume his children drawn in pencil on the walls. Obviously, we didn't care, except... why were we told it wasn't a second home? It was just strange.
Everything would have been mostly overlooked had the host been contrite and acknowledged our aggravation. Instead, he gaslit us about the severity of the pool issues, led us to believe that he would compensate us for the days we were unable to access the pool, (didn't happen), repeatedly mentioned he was on vacation out of the country, and generally gave off the vibe that he couldn't be bothered. He also found it necessary to mention the weather was "a washout", (it rained a few days) the implication being that we wouldn't be using the pool anyway. Obviously, this is irrelevant, as we rented and paid for a home with a heated pool. He also implied that we were paying market price or even getting a steal at $1k/night, which is not only insulting but irrelevant. I can say with 100% honesty we would have much rather spent $0 and avoided this entire affair.
The house is spacious and well organized. We enjoyed the pool, deck/grill, and playing in the yard. The owner was responsive.

Great location, house needs some updating
Great location and a great time. The house is roomy with 3500 sq ft. It’s. Close to town and not far from main beach. The owner is friendly, responsive and easy to deal with. The house does require some work, nothing major but the outside deck has floor boards that you need to wear shoes. Master shower drains slowly, around the pool the tiles are cracking and washer machine was very old. At end it’s a decent stay but a little pricey but I guess that is the Hamptons. It’s a true rental property as things are old or beat up by all their renters. None of this changes our enjoyment of being out the city and having a great time.
We wanted to be within driving distance of our home in NJ, at a house with a pool as we have little children. The house was great, very clean and spacious. We loved the pool and were able to fully relax in the midst of this crazy COVID world. The owner was exceptionally communicative and helpful. Thank you!

Nora and her family are lovely people, we would have them back any time.
The location of this home is great: totally secluded and peaceful, yet very convenient to shops, restaurants, and beaches. The home owner was very attentive and quick to reply to all queries. The house is a comfortable size with a huge master suite. The only drawback that should be pointed out is that the home needs a little TLC. A fresh coat of paint, re-stain the deck, fix some of the uneven pavers around the pool, and trim some overgrown bushes. The bedrooms upstairs are also a bit small, but totally fine for kids. The positives about this house completely outweigh anything else. Just my honest feedback. Would I rent here again? YES!

Jesse and his family were a pleasure, we hope to see them again.
We rented the property for two weeks in July and had an amazing time and experience in East Hampton. The pool was great and is very nice when heated. The master bedroom is phenomenal and very modern. The property itself is very clean and very nice. We really enjoyed it here and had a great time. The house is very close to the town and the beach.

It was such a pleasure having you and your family, see you soon I hope.
Overall we had a pleasant stay. It was not without issues though. The only towels provided were a mismatched bunch of worn ones stacked on the kitchen counter with someone’s underwear stuck to them. Several dishes had stuck on food. The dryer was packed with damp towels and bedding. All of the cloth furniture was stained. We ended up putting sheets over the couch to be comfortable enough to sit in it. The other couch smelled so badly of pet urine we couldn’t sit in it. There was no soap in the house so we had to run to the market just to be able to wash our hands. Many of the lamps didn’t work or bulbs were blown out. It did have a great collection of children’s books and the pool was nice and heated.

I am pleased that you enjoyed the stay and your concerns are valid. The prior renter destroyed the house and we could not get it back into shape in time.
