Family getaway
We loved our week here! It was spacious and comfortable. Our folks are in their seventies and stayed in the bedrooms on the main level. The kids and teenagers slept downstairs. The layout was great!

Excellent Host
Debbie is a fantastic host. She goes above and beyond getting you prepped and keeping you informed for the stay. The cabin was very nice and bigger than I anticipated. We had 5 adults a 6 year old and our dogs and never felt crowded. The house was modern and was capable of interfacing with everyone’s various entertainment systems that we brought. The internet was sufficient to have everyone’s phones connected while also allowing streaming and playing games on Xbox. There was plenty of comfortable seating in every room. The fireplace was a big hit and feeding the squirrels was my granddaughter’s favorite morning activity. Due to the weather we didn’t get much of an opportunity to enjoy the available outdoor amenities however; we look forward to using them on a future trip. Some of the entertainment equipment such as the pool table / ping pong table is a little older and worn but that didn’t impact our experience as everyone still had a blast being horrible at both. The inside of the cabin was immaculate and everything was high quality. The outside has some components that are a work in progress and I am sure once completed they will be excellent as well. My only negative comment (and this wasn’t enough of an issue for me not to book again or recommend to friends and family) is the driveway. It’s a little scary the first time or two you use it and easy to miss the first time you pull up. Overall we had a great trip and enjoyed the cabin thoroughly.

Pine Perfection
Our family could not have been more pleased with our visit to the Wandering Elk cabin! The accommodations were perfect for our group of eight. Everyone was very comfortable. This home truly has everything you might need for cooking or entertaining! The kitchen table fit our family plus two guests for our Thanksgiving dinner. The back patio was a real hit with all the bird watching, squirrel feeding, Javalina spotting and elk/deer looking. We didn't see any elk or deer from the porch, but many were seen out on the road. We truly anticipate returning to this perfect spot in the pines of Pine, AZ. Thanks to Debbie for being such a fabulous and accommodating host.

Elk for days!!!
Could not have asked for a better property for our 2 families. The Wondering Elk cabin did not disappoint. We saw elk at the cabin everyday and the kids were able to sit on the patio and enjoy them. One of the most amazing experiences of our lives. If you ever get the chance, you have to try this place out, especially if you love wildlife. The accommodations were amazing and having the cracking of the fire at night was extremely peaceful. Finally, Debbie was the best host we have ever encountered!!! It was hard to write this as we would love to keep this place to ourselves. Honestly, if you are thinking about it, just hit book.

Weekend at the Cabin
What an amazing cabin. Everything as advertised and more. There was more than enough room for the whole family and tons of wildlife to watch from the many windows. No complaints here and we are looking forward to booking for next year!!

About the host

Host profile image
Hello! My name is Debbie, my partner is Dave, and we absolutely love this cabin and the whole Pine community. We have a home in Chandler, and we often block several days between guests to stay at the cabin. It's as much our home as our Chandler house, and we love sharing it.

I had two dreams for many years; one was to live in the woods, and one was to own a vacation rental. With this cabin, I've realized both dreams! I love the feeling when you are on the back deck that you are in your own personal forest, with elk, deer, javelina, squirrels, and birds coming to visit. I even saw a little gray fox one night.

We bought the house in the summer of 2019, enjoyed it ourselves for a year, and then started renting right in the middle of the COVID pandemic. I knew families weren't able to take vacations, people had been cooped up for months, so we decided to open our home and share it with people who badly needed to get outdoors and enjoy four seasons and the pine trees.

I try to get to know my guests a little before they arrive, find out what they love to do, learn about any special occasions or celebrations, and answer questions. You may get a phone call from me; I'll make it quick, I promise! I just want to have that human connection, and let you know that my number one goal is for you to have a wonderful stay.

Enjoy your visit to The Wandering Elk Cabin!

Why they chose this property

Since we live in the Valley but love the woods, Pine is a quick and easy getaway. Before buying this cabin, we rented other places in Pine. We learned what made a great vacation rental, and what made one not-so-great, and applied that to making ours the best we could make it. We love the charm of Pine, the people who live around us, and the beauty of nature.

What makes this property unique

You'll feel the love when you walk into the Wandering Elk Cabin. The first thing you'll notice is the huge chalet windows looking out to the ponderosa pines and juniper trees. Then you will notice how spotlessly clean and uncluttered it is, while still giving you that homey cabin feeling.

Next, you'll walk downstairs and see the comfortable sectional sofa, the ping pong table over the pool table, the comfy beds, the wet bar, the 65" Roku TV, and French doors going out to a covered patio and tree-filled backyard. You'll find outdoor games, a hidden picnic table, and Adirondack chairs circling a propane fire-pit.

Once back upstairs, you'll walk up another staircase to the Master bedroom loft. You'll step out the French doors to yet another deck, where some of the best star-gazing is found. The loft is stocked with more games, books, and a big reading chair and ottoman. When you are ready to sleep, you'll relax in the king-size Nova-Form bed with soft sheets and lots of pillows.

You'll never want to leave.
