The cabin was a peaceful oasis right on the river! They had a fire pit to relax at night and a swing by a picnic table to enjoy my morning coffee and watch the sunrise. Great location, close to holland but far enough out to get peace and quiet.
My husband and I wanted to have a place to stay where we could fish the river from our rental. This place did not disappoint! As it states in the listing, it is semi-rustic. No fancy amenities, just the very basics. We loved it! Julie was a great host. She is very friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to staying here again next Spring or Summer.
Such a great stay, host was very sweet, she even gave us some fire started for a wonderful riverside fire. The cabin has all the basics you need to get by. No more than 3 people can sleep comfortably. Futon in the living room was not comfortable, but bed was fantastic for my daughter and I.
You can easily get to saugatuck, Holland….. Hiking, canoeing, Delicious restaurants, restaurants, and lots of activities, including putt putt.
The cabin was just right for my husband and me. He was able to fish and I was able to check out the historic bridge nearby, go for walks and watch the river. There is a train that passes through infrequently. We did not find that to be a problem. I recommend the cabin to anyone who wants to get away from it all and wants to be close enough to get to beaches and towns on Lake Michigan. Any kayakers would be really pleased with this location.
Julie was a phenomenal host. The wife and I was looking for some peace and quiet and we found every bit of it in this little cabin. Julie supplies are the basic essentials needed to get through a camping trip. The scenery was perfect.
We really liked this place. The view of the river is breathtaking, the host was friendly, and the weather was great. The place was clean and comfortable.
Great view and scenery just feet from the river.
Described as a camping cabin, the pictures show a toilet and shower. What the pictures don't show is that the toilet and kichen refrigerator and stove are separted only by a shower curtain. There are no walls, no doors and no handwashig sink. We were expecting a minimalistic camping cabin. We did not expect to share a kitchen and bathroom with no physical partition.

Lovely location, beautiful view, good spot for fishing, relaxing, good little set up for cooking out and enjoying a fire. The bad part is trying to get to the water the walk ways are bad use extreme caution. However, the cabin overall was nice as a short little getaway but the water backs up quickly in the sink, the toilet doesn’t flush properly, the hot water is extremely limited, soft spots in floor makes you have to use caution when walking.
Julie is a great host! Very responsive and helpful. She even went above and beyond to locate a light jacket that was accidentally left behind and mailed it to us! Cabin is basic and rustic, as accurately described in the listing. Perched directly on the riverbank with nice water views and a cozy fire pit complete with split wood to burn. We spent most of our time (other than sleeping) outdoors, eating our meals at the picnic table or in the Adirondack chairs overlooking the river. Also rented kayaks from Julie’s business next door. They drove us upstream to launch the kayaks and we paddled/floated 9 miles downriver back to the cabin. A peaceful and serene trip…no sign of people, boats or structures for hours, just the wild and scenic river. Also enjoyed walking across the New Richmond swing bridge and exploring the riverside boardwalk. All in all, it was a relaxing and memorable visit.
This little cabin was perfect for my wife and I to get a chance to reconnect. We enjoyed the peace and quiet at the cabin and the short drive into Holland for an amazing dinner.
This cabin is exactly as listed - and is perfect for a weekend away. Quiet and such a beautiful view on the river. Julie was quick to respond to any questions. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to camp and explore the SW Michigan area!
Absolutely awesome! Super private, and quiet! Perfect river in front of the cottage for paddle boarding, kayaking, or canoeing! Our host, Julie was amazing and super professional! Can’t wait to stay there again! Highly recommend!!

Location was very quiet and peaceful. On a dead-end street. So virtually no passing car traffic. Cabin was stocked more than anticipated.
It was a small cabin with minimal amenities that was sufficient as a home base. Previous reviews mentioned an abundance of noise, we did not encounter any noise issues and it was very peaceful.
This is a nice property to stay at. It is an aging property but still worth the stay. If you’re looking for the Ritz Carleton this is not for you. Great get away with the spouse. 4 people would be tight.
The cottage was quaint, several spots in the floors very weak. No toaster as listed. Poison ivy ALL over, embankment is covered and it's all around the house. Kayak and glamping rental did not interfere with stay but owner has an outbuilding for storage and was there often. Enjoyed the wildlife, birds, squirrels and bats.
We came for a quiet and relaxing mid week trip. Definitely quiet and the walking parks nearby are nice. Directly in front of the shack is a garage that was used everyday by the owners who have a camping and canoe place on the same property. No AC but space heaters if it gets cold and there were only a couple paper plates so bring your necessities for eating. Overall it worked and we loved that they welcomed our dog, just a bit pricey for the actual condition of the inside of the shack.
