We had the best time at the cabin! We swam, took adventurous walks, went fishing, and ended the night with a relaxing bonfire.
The cabin was comfortable and very clean.
Both Matt and Mitch were fabulous hosts.
My family and I will definitely be back!
Our family enjoyed spending a few days and nights at the cottage. The house was just the right amount of space and the property is absolutely beautiful. The kids had a great time exploring, hiking, and fishing. Short drive to Starved Rock, Matthiessen State Park, Wildcat canyon, etc. I would recommend this property to anyone who enjoys the outdoors!
It was a really nice location, with a cabin vibe. Loved the communication with the hosts whenever we had a question. The only thing we were sad about was the pool not being open, but they had creek access near by, which was a blast.?
Overall it's a 8/10 only because the internet is barely usable( no fault of the Property) as they are out in BFE, the listing should make this clear. My wife had online video zoom College classes to attend and we had to travel for better internet to our Nephews House in Ohio,Illinois.. Updating the online photos would also help as the photos are obviously older..
Thoroughly enjoyed the stay! The location is perfect. We had plenty of room to hike and enjoy the property. The hosts were wonderful and they assisted with any and all inquiries. Will definitely be back!
Had a really nice time in this cabin. Great location, near the state parks, and lots of space in the cabin. Good amenities and nice walking and hiking on the grounds. Lovely place. Great hosts.
We really enjoyed our time. Plenty of space! 11 year old twins enjoyed using pool and swing on the porch area was their favorite. Would definitely return!!
This was the perfect cabin for a mini vacation with my family. We had access to a giant pool, a great fishing pond, and the luxury of nature and relaxation! We will definitely stay again.
Checking out the area around Starved Rock State Park
We had a really good time checking out the state parks, lock and dams, etc. The property was nice with a fishing lake and some swinging bridges. Matthew was a great host.
The cabin was clean and comfortable and the walking trails were well maintained. Matt was a great host who always made sure we had what we needed. I am already planning a return visit.
The cabin.- It is cozy and fun and it was perfect for us. My teen daughter loved hanging out in the loft. The kitchenette is spacious and it has all the basic things you may need to prepare meals. Bonus point for the full-size fridge.
The property.- Very big and very pretty. We enjoyed walking the trails and watching some small fish and crayfish at the creek. This place is perfect for stargazing when the sky is clear.
The host.- Matt was a great host. He made sure we had everything we needed to have a great time.
My husband and I were looking to get away from the city with our 5 y/o grandson. Though nippy weather in March, we layered up and really enjoyed walking around the grounds, crossing the bridges, playing in the creek and walking trails. Sitting by the fire pit every night was wonderful and the stars were amazing. Matt was so welcoming and helpful. We really enjoyed unplugging from everything and being out in nature. My grandson did not want to leave to come home!!
It's a great place. Kids love running around and playing in the creek, which is really more of a stream. Matt and Mitch are very accommodating. We are currently thinking of coming back in the summer when the pool and the paddleboats will be open/available.
We could stay in our privacy. My family and friend's could relax with no one's bothering. Surounded good nature. Property is clean and well maintained but 2nd floor carpet is not that clean since people are wearing a shoes on a floor. Others are clean. Well maintained, manager is kind and helpful. We did not like tap water seems not have water softener. Otherwise all my family enjoyed staying this place.
Three friends and myself stayed here for our most recent deer hunting trip. The house was clean, spacious, and has a nice outdoor area with tables and a fire pit. Matt was more than accommodating to all of our needs and really went out of his way to make sure we were happy. We plan on staying here again.
What a great place to spend a few quiet and relaxing days! The house was very comfortable - had everything we needed (especially coffee!). Matt was a wonderful host - even brought wood for us to make an outdoor fire. Nice place to go for a walk in the woods to see and hear nature. We will definitely be back!
Matthew was a great host. He was very responsive and shared information about their cleaning procedures that helped put our minds at ease. We really enjoyed our time disconnecting and getting away from the city.

Why they chose this property
All our rental spaces are located at Pilgrim Park, a secluded and forested valley located just a few minutes off of Interstate 80. The park has over 100 acres of upland forest with a few hiking trails, two creeks running through the site and a small pound that provides ample fishing. Our location makes day trips to Starved Rock and Mattheissen state parks simple and easy. We are also close to the Hennepin Canal State Parkway which provides plenty of fishing oppotunities as well as a bike path appropriate for nearly all ages that extends for dozens of miles.
