Comfortable property in an historical setting

Very peaceful surroundings (spacious grounds, river and forest) in a quiet hamlet. The property has a long and interesting history with much original material still to be seen. We had a pleasant stay in a comfortable and spacious house.

The 'WOW' Factor

This property is amazing. It is an old priory dating back to the 12th century. The grounds are beautiful with a river, large gardens, pool and chickens, goats and geese roaming around. It is extremely peaceful. The pool is large and very warm. The village of Nouaillé-Maupertuis is 5 minutes drive away and has a fabulous abbey, a boulangerie, a co-op and a great restaurant/bar. You can take country walks to the village and south to the village of Nieuil-l'Espoir, which is also lovely. The accommodation itself has some querks but I would recommend staying here as it is definitely one of a kind.

Un week-end très agréable

Nous avons loué ce prieure pour un week-end en famille La maison en pierre comporte tout le.Charme de l’ancien avec de belles cheminées et de belles dalles au sol dans un bel endroit calme et verdoyant Le salon est vaste et accueillant ( ( le canapé mériterait d’être remplacé) La cuisine est très bien équipée et le propriétaire y avait même laissé les disettes pour la cafetière percolateur en renvàche le réfrigérateur méritait d’être mieux nettoyé Tout le linge est propre et de bonne et belle qualité En revanche l’accès à la chambre en mezzanine par une échelle assez raide est quelque peu scabreux Très bel espace extérieur ( mobilier d’extérieur vieillot mais nous y avons agréablement déjeuné L’espace tennis piscine est très beau mais nous y avons été dérangé par le chien du propriétaire qui ( bien qu’en apparammant pas agressif ni méchant ) venait en permanence tourner autour des adultes et enfants en bas âge !! Le propriétaire est très discret et a bien préservé notre intimité mais son chien aurait bien mérité de d’imiter son maître Mis à part cet inconvénient nous avons bien apprécié l’endroit et y avons passé un très bon week-end plutôt ensoleillé

Amazing property and grounds

We fell in love with this old Priory as soon as we arrived. It was extremely peaceful. The grounds were extensive with the river running through the grounds. We particularly liked the little chapel & hope that if we return this will have been restored. Our gite was very clean & comfortable. Gilles was a good helpful host. We will go back.

Un grand dépaysement

A l'écart des routes et du bruit, près de Nouaillé-Maupertuis, s'élève un ancien prieuré médiéval plein de charme dont une partie a été transformée en gîte au milieu d'un vaste parc. Quatre pièces en enfilade meublées de façon atypique et chaleureuse : un séjour-salle à manger, une première chambre, une cuisine assez bien équipée (quelques manques toutefois) avec, en bout, une salle de bain et des toilettes, une deuxième chambre plus vaste. La literie est excellente, le chauffage est efficace; on se sent très vite comme chez soi. A recommander à tous les voyageurs qui préfèrent l'originalité au conformisme.

Superbe propriété très jolie avec son immense terrain, seul petit bémol c’est qu’il n’y a personne pour nous accueillir ce qui laisse place à plusieurs questions vacantes. Je recommande bien sûr cet endroit pour y passer un agréable séjour loin de la ville
