We've stayed here a few times now. This place isn't fancy, but it has everything you need, no wifi but has very good mobile access (skinny/spark), The views from the front bedroom at dawn are world class. We'll be staying here again.

Lovely peaceful location, fire was welcome during the cold nights. Watching the waves from the front porch, fishing from further along the beach and visiting the rockpools in front of the property were highlights for our whānau.

Loved the house. Loads of firewood, an excellent fireplace and all round, very comfortable. Unfortunately the TV didn't work and we didnt know about the logging trucks, but regardless, our stay was most enjoyable. We would highly recommend the place to anyone looking for a remote, peaceful stay.

Mataikona is a close drive to Castlepoint. The hill road is just how the host describes slow driving allows taking in the views.This house is a perfect location for a quiet get away. we went in winter but got our two days with no rain. The fireplace was awesome, almost too hot!
