About this property
Unwind in a Real, Cute, Comfortable Bach in Takamatua
Old French Road will provide a lovely getaway. It is comfortable and homely whilst retaining its original bach character with wooden floors, mix and match furniture and knick knacks noone is quite ready to throw out. Its sunny position overlooked by an old walnut tree and surrounded by roses, grape vines and natives is a lovely spot to grab a book and some time with friends and family.
Less than 2 minutes away the water to paddle in (when its not mudflats), the stream to do white-baiting and just a little further away a jetty to jump from. Within a short 3km drive you can enjoy the cafes, restaurants, galleries and boutique shops of Akaroa.
Whether it be a summer of sunshine enjoying BBQs outside on the deck or tucked up warm and cosy in front of the open fire (or heat pump) after sunset in winter, this bach will let you get away from it all.
There is a deck with seating and dining table out the back which is great for catching the early sun and a chair & couch set up on the front deck, perfect for sipping a wine or gin in. The shower pressure is great after a new hot water cylinder has been put in, so you are good to go.

Great notes by the host which helped us navigate the area. The house, beds, amenities of the Bach were all really good, ensuring a relaxing stay with our Labrador.
A lovely holiday home in the beautiful Banks Peninsula. Our host was welcoming with lots of information. Thanks for the paddle boards which we used and had a fabulous break.
Loved this beautiful wee kiwi gem :) We couldn’t even call it a bach it was a lovely welcoming home. It had everything we could need, lovely set out rooms and enough room for us to all enjoy our time. The kids unplugged and loved the games and the dogs loved it and going for walks along the beach roads. Lizzie was a great host and communicated promptly, we will absolutely be coming back in the future. So close to Christchurch yet far enough away we feel like we had a week break over 2 lovely days Thank you again

Thanks for that practical review. Am glad you had a nice break thanks for staying!
We loved staying at the bach - we had just finished the Banks Track so needed a place to relax and unwind. Fantastic property and close to Akaroa for shopping and supplies.
Everything was perfect. This bach had everything you needed. Both the front and back decks were a great extension to the house. Very tidy an clean. Bonus been able to take our family dog. We would definitely love to rent again

About the host
Hosted by Lizzie Parker
Im a NZer that lives rurally, 10km from Darfield with a few cows. I love heading out to Takamatua and chilling out with a book. Lovely neighbours to have a wine with.
Why they chose this property
It was an opportunistic purchase as Takamatua had a good feel about it - not in the busy hustle of Akaroa but still had a holiday feel and enough walks around for the dogs. It is a really cute bungalow that needed some TLC - the previous owner had set it up beautifully and it just needed a touch up.
What makes this property unique
Parking for the boat; kennel for the dog, only one street back from the water (tidal), and on the flat.
