Upon arrival the house was a mess due to not being cleaned for our stay. I messaged the host who informed that the cleaner had a personal issue to sort out and that it would be done the following day. The next day came and went with no cleaning as well as the host just stopping all correspondence with me. We ended up having to leave early and further attempts to sort this issue with the host have just been ignored.
Ideal location close to everything you need. Equiped with all the necessary. Beds were super comfortable and bonus that there was a washer and drier. Only downside was the lawns were quite long, the rubbish bin was full and the shower head may need replacing as the water was just dribbling out. Other than that would probably stay here again.
Older home close to town, clean, comfortable, well provisioned. Access details were not forthcoming until after checkin time, which was a bit stressful as we had travelled a considerable distance to Whakatane, other than that, a great place to relax, and enjoy the area. Have stayed before, will stay again.
5 minutes to restaurants, shops..very quiet location, a short walk to beautiful seaside park. We didn't find childrens playground...but huge lawns onsite for kids to runaround
Great location, handy to town centre but nice quiet street. Lovely character home with many original features (the green bath is spectacular), the kitchen especially reminded me of how old time baches used to be. Well appointed and comfortable. Ani was great and easy to communicate with. Everything super clean and homely. Big thumbs up.
We absolutely loved this whare. It was homely, comfortable, was perfect for our weekend & is close to everything. I have gone so far as to saving your number in my phone Ani as I know we will be coming back again in summer to enjoy the deck area with whānau.
Ngā mihi.
It’s a cute little house with a great big deck in back - proximity to central shopping area, ocean and wananga was excellent. Kitchen is tiny but doable. We had everything we needed and had a happy and relaxed stay. Addition of another mirror would be my only suggestion.

This is a refurbished very old style house. My guess around the 1940s. It is so old the toilet looks like it was added as an afterthought to the back of the house.Other than that it was comfortable enough. But don't expect to be able to prepare any complicated meals. There was almost no kitchen bench space. But with all that we really did enjoy our stay there.

A great place to stay
An awesome place to stay, walking distance to everything. If you are going to book, make sure you get access details the day before as we were stranded trying to contact anyone to get into the property. Even Book a bach had trouble contacting the owner to get access info, which resulted in us being stranded outside the property for quite some time, exhausted after a long trip. The stay itself was awesome, as was the property, but soured due to the lack of communication from the owner.

Great location but rough around the edges
This place is super close to everything you need in Whakatane with the shops, wharf and playgrounds a 2 minute walk away and a waterfall pretty much across the street. It has great appliances, comfy beds, two heat pumps and a smart tv. However we did find this place a little rough and in some desperate need of TLC. We know it’s an old place but the broken windows in the back door and the back bedroom were a little surprising (we’ve since found on other booking sites that this was brought to the owners attention back in November 2023!). This is not safe for families or those staying on their own. The other surprise was the cut/exposed wires sticking out in some rooms and then there’s the hot water. It’s more like a trickle and could take 5 minutes to fill the sink to wash the dishes. The kitchen was a little left to be desired in that it’s the original kitchen and no surprises there is no photos of that in the listing. Asbestos is in the garage so avoid at all costs. It’s a sheet of fibrolite lying on the ground and should not be lying around at all.
We had a lovely stay in this bach once we got inside. It had a nice, relaxed atmosphere and everything we needed for a great stay. Unfortunately, when we arrived the host hadn't updated the information for getting into the property and we spent alot of time trying to follow incorrect instructions before ringing book a back to try and get the contact details of the owner who asked us to wait to 40 minutes until someone could come and let us in and finish cleaning the rooms. Make sure you double check you have the correct check in instructions before you leave! Otherwise it was a great spot for an awesome family holiday and I would totally reccommend it!
